Help Save the Lives of Hundreds of Thousands of Baby Seals

The Canadian seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on Earth. More than one million baby seals have been killed for their fur during the past four years. You can help stop this atrocity.

The days are now numbered for over 275,000 Baby Seals in Canada. The EU Commission will be making their final decision as to whether or not to ban seal product trade once and for all. The deadline for you to make a difference in this world event is now just days away.

Many people still do not realize that Canadian fishermen brutally kill hundreds of thousands of baby seals every year, just for their fur. They are set to slaughter 275,000 this year alone.

Within weeks, Canada's beautiful harp seal nursery will be transformed into a scene of bloody carnage. The Canadian government will allow 275,000 seals—almost all of them babies as young as 12 days old—to be killed for their fur this year.

But there is new hope for the seals. Right now, the European Commission is considering proposing legislation that would ban seal product trade in the European Union—a move many believe could spell the end of commercial seal hunting globally.
One important way that you can help is by signing our petition calling on European legislators to ban the seal product trade.

Please do not wait until the 11th hour to take action. Rather go now and sign the on-line petition. Then take action to pass it along with inspiration to your friends.

Your continued support is needed. Please follow the link to take fast action by sending an action email to the House in support of Global Warming and Environmental Defense.

Tell the House to Act on Global Warming

Quick Update:

In his final State of the Union address, President Bush once again failed to offer any meaningful steps on the most serious environmental threat facing the planet today -- global warming.

That's unfortunate, but it will not stop efforts to pass national global warming legislation this year.

The focus is now on the U.S. House, where key leaders have promised to vote on climate legislation this year. We must hold them to their word.

With this in mind, the Environmental Defense Action Fund (the lobbying arm of environmental defense) has developed a short guide of 10 of the most influential global warming movers and shakers in the House. These representatives are making key decisions -- for better or for worse -- on global warming legislation.

See who's who on global warming in the U.S. House.

They are doing everything we can to reach out to these and dozens of other House members to build support for the strongest global warming bill possible. And they will continue to press for floor action in the Senate.

That is why the Operation Climate Vote campaign has been re-launched and is being aggressively lobbied in Congress to pass legislation this year.

Your continued support is needed.

Check out the list of 10 House members to watch. Then make sure to take action and encourage your friends and family members to support our campaign.
