From globeandmail.com: Police hunt three men after bear killed, strung up:

Police in the mountainous town of Golden, B.C., are on the hunt for three men after a dead bear was found hanging from a foot bridge as an apparent prank.

So while authorities don't know how the bear died, surveillance footage captured from a municipal closed-circuit video camera shows three men stringing the bear up ...

"It looks like it was a prank in very bad taste. The bear was dragged and hung over the edge of a foot bridge near [the outskirts of] Golden," she said last night.

No arrests had been made as of last night, and police were appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Linda Niemi, a local resident who owns the Bear Corner Bed & Bale just outside of town, said she was distraught to learn of the bear's fate.

"I was horrified. I can't even imagine someone would think to do something like this," said Ms. Niemi, who has lived in Golden, near the Alberta line, her whole life. She said the area isn't known to have a bear problem, and residents know how to handle the situation if they are ever approached by one.

"They would never do anything like this. Golden is not like that," Ms. Niemi said.

Well, apparently Golden is like that. Unfortunately evil is everywhere a human being can touch... I believe it is in poor taste to even classify the horrible act as any kind of "prank".  Please see my news posts & blogs for links to other stories, petitions & issues surrounding bears.
