   Vote For Endangered Bird Conservation

The Zoo Boise Conservation Fund is holding a contest that could help ABC and its partner group ECOAN expand the Abra Patricia Bird Reserve in northern Peru. You can vote in this contest that could lead to an additional 489 acres of cloud forest habitat being protected.

The Abra Patricia reserve is a critical site for three globally endangered bird species, the Long-whiskered Owlet (above), Ochre-fronted Antpitta, and Royal Sunangel. Several songbirds that breed in North America, such as the beautiful Blackburnian Warbler (left), also use these forests during the winter. Other migratory species include the Broad-winged Hawk, Swainson's Thrush, and Alder Flycatcher. In total, 29 neotropical migrant species use the area, of which 13 are of conservation concern.

To help, visit the The Zoo Boise Conservation Fund and vote for Abra Patricia as your favorite conservation project. Six projects are in the running, and the three with the most votes will each receive $20,000. Voting will be open until 5:00 pm Mountain Time on Saturday, October 27th, so hurry and vote now!
