Sustainable Homes has won a coveted Green Apple Environment Award in the national campaign to find
Britain’s greenest organisations.
They competed against more than 500 other nominations and will be presented their award at a ceremony in
the House of Commons on 14 November 2011
As a result of this success Sustainable Homes will be representing the UK in the European Business
Awards for the Environment, later this year. Their work will also be published in a leading international
journal on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can learn from their experience.
Sustainable Homes are the leading trainer on sustainable housing issues in the UK including building and
retrofitting homes to low carbon. They also manage the Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT)
a best practise group for housing organisations.
Dave Sheridan, Chief Executive Officer of the Apollo Group, a principal sponsor of SHIFT, commented:
“The Apollo Group is proud to be associated with the work of Sustainable Homes as it strives to reduce
carbon emissions across the sector and help alleviate fuel poverty. This award is a great reflection of the
work carried out by Andrew and the team.”
On being told of winning the award Andrew Eagles Managing Director of Sustainable Homes, stated “This
is great recognition of all those companies that have worked with us, from our SHIFT members and
partners to Government and the WWF-UK. The Sustainable Homes team are really honoured. It has given
us a boost in our work to reduce the environmental impacts of UK organisations”.
