Jane Burgermeister was a journalist in Austria. When the bird flu pandemic was reported on, she reported the news warning people to be vaccinated. Eventually, she uncovered evidence that suggested that this "pandemic" was false and an attempt by WHO (world health organization) & the UN to scare into and/or force people to get the vaccine. She reported her findings to the FBI.
After that in an attempt to keep her quiet, the Austrian govt. has filed various false charges against her. This is after she was fired from her job.
She is due to go to court on August 12 in Austria where she could be facing years of incarceration.
Please write, post  or whatever you must to support and protest this atrocity!!!

As the war against (or between) the drug "lords" crosses onto American soil...where are OUR troops??? They are in another country fighting for other people!!
I know many people would disagree with me but, here is MY humble opinion...we should leave a set amount of troops over in the Middle East to teach those adults (who wish to learn) to use a weopon & to defend themselves.
Then we should bring the majority of our troops home to defend OUR country!!
As someone who dealt with domestic violence, I personally know that eventually I had to get a back bone & stand up & defend myself. If the civilians in the Middle East would learn to stop taking the abuse & to stand up for themselves then they would be proud of themselves & see that they are NOT victims but survivors.
I have great empathy for their horrible situation but what will happen when our citizens become "expendable assets"? Who will be here to protect us???

I arrived at the address where someone had requested a taxi. I honked but nobody came out.

I honked again, nothing. So I walked to the door and knocked. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice.

I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened.

A small woman in her 90's stood before me.

She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years.

All the furniture was covered with sheets..

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters.

In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, and then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.

'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated'..

'Oh, you're such a good boy', she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked,

'Could you drive through downtown?' 'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly. 'Oh, I don't mind,' she said.

'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice'.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued.

'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city.

She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighbourhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds.

She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now.'

We drove in silence to the address she had given me.

It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up.

They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' she asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing,' I said. 'You have to make a living,' she answered. 'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.

Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought.

For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk.

What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?

What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We are conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments -

but great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

You won't get any big surprise in 10 days if you send this to a lot of people,

but you might help to make the world a little kinder and more compassionate by sending it on.

Thank you, my friend...

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Dear Friends and Family:

I am writing you this letter to let you know that I will be participating in the 2009 Alzheimer’s Associations Memory Walk. This is my second year participating in this event. An event I feel so strongly about.

In my professional role as a certified Nursing ssistant for almost 14 years, I worked mainly with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Patients and their families. I saw first -hand the devastation and heartbreak that those with these illness’ deal with everyday.

In the last several years, this cause has become much more personal for me and my family. My mother’s mom developed Alzheimer’s Disease . She has since passed away. My father’s dad has been battling this disease for the past few years and the frustration he has felt and the sorrow and pain of my grandmother and the rest of my family is almost unbearable.

Last year I walked as an individual, this year I am walking as a part of Team Heaven’s Angels. Heaven’s Angels is a non-profit organization which raises money and collects clothing, tents, and other items people are willing to donate for various causes and organizations.

Our team has made a goal to raise $1000.00 for the Alzheimer’s Association. We still need $950.00 more to reach that goal.

If you are willing and able to make a donation in ANY amount, it would be greatly appreciated. Either click on the link to be taken to our teams web page or download and fill out the donation form attached to this letter and send it along with your donation to the address on the form.

Each year more and more people are diagnosed with this devastating disease and at much younger ages. We must find a cure for Alzheimer’s and we must find it soon!!

This years walk will take place Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at 9 o’clock in the morning.

And thank you in advance for your generosity!!

Michelle M. Parker

Tax and Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol
Assembly Bill 390 would legalize the sale of marijuana for adults
NORML is asking for your support of Assembly Bill 390, the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act -- the first bill ever introduced to legalize the sale and use of marijuana in California. The bill has been referred to the Assembly Committees on Public Safety and Health.   As introduced, this groundbreaking proposal would raise over $1 billion in annual revenue by taxing the retail production and sale of marijuana for adults over 21 years of age.
The bill would not alter existing legislation on the use of medicinal cannabis, nor would it impose new taxes or sanctions on the medical cultivation of cannabis.

Assembly Bill 390 proposes to make California the first state in the nation to enact a rational public policy for the control and regulation of marijuana.  Please show your support for this measure by contacting your California Assembly members and urging them to support the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act.  For your convenience, a pre-written letter will be e-mailed to your state elected officials when you enter your contact information below.
For more information about this measure, please visit: You can also check the status of this bill here.

Thank you for supporting NORML's marijuana law reform efforts in California.

Please Write and/or Call the State Assembly and the Governor of California

SCE President, Nazanin Afshin-Jam received news from former child-prisoner Reza Alinejad of the imminent execution of Rahim Ahmadi believed to be carried out this Wednesday, February 18th 2009.

Reza Alinejad who was recently saved from death row and released from prison, got a phone call from his past cellmates informing him that Rahim Ahmadi had been sent to the section where prisoners are held before they are to be executed.

Reza Alinejad described Rahim Ahmadi as a good and quiet boy who minded his own business. He said that he would often read his prayer books and pray. He also said that he was really good at handicrafts like knitting and sewing, activities given to prisoners to keep them occupied.

Despite a few Judges acknowledging that Rahim used a knife in self defense, his death sentence was confirmed by Iran’s head of Judiciary Ayatollah Shahroudi. On August 8th 2005, when Rahim was 15 years old, he stabbed and killed a man named Reza. Shiraz police were notified that the attacker had fled the scene and started a widespread manhunt. Rahim turned himself in the following day. During investigation, Rahim said:

“the day before the incident happened, Reza and two of his friends confronted me. They beat me and ran away and of course, I hit them back. The next day, the three of them came after me again. I was standing at my front door, when they attacked me. I managed to grab a knife away from one of them. In self-defense, I stabbed Reza. I had not planned to kill anyone and if I had not hit Reza, they would have hit me”.

Although Rahim was no more than 15 years old, the presiding judges considered him an adult from a religious standpoint and sentenced Rahim to death. He was transferred him to Adelabad prison in Shiraz where he spent the last 5 years in jail. The sentencing was confirmed by the Supreme Court and sent to Ayatullah Shahroudi for final approval. His death sentence was confirmed and he now awaits imminent execution.
