Amazing!!! a wonderful film! It starts really slowly but then gains in momentum beautifully! I loved all those mythical creatures, how skillfully they were brought to life... all the animals so very real... Of the child actors, well, Lucy is a real charmed child, a born star; so genuine and expressive, and not too cute. She's got the face for the big screen -- could have made it in the mute era as well!
But most impressed I was with Edmund -- so purrfect for the role! The actor reminded me very strongly of a young Jeremy Irons, one of my all-time favourite actors. I think that if he goes on acting, he'll go far. Susan and Peter were simply good and heroic, and yes, slightly boring because of that, but well-cast.
Aslan was magnificent, very much a lion, and I lions!!! But I think that I admired most Tilda Swinton as the White Witch... What a gorgeous purrformance! And Aslan needed an opponent that's powerful as well -- and she was so cold and so evil and so lovely... That was just incredibly impressive!
All in all, a really great film! I didn't cry but I think that if I'd been alone, I would have. Still uncomfortable with crying in a public place... be it a dark movie theatre or not. I do wish I wasn't.
Oh and the faun was adorable!!!
Btw, happy holidays to all, and merry Christmas to those who celebrate it!
