Laura Kirby McIntosh on CNN re petitionsite

Laura Kirby McIntosh lives in Canada and is now making a difference around the world.   Earlier this week, Laura read the story about a FL school teacher who held a vote in her kindergarten class to allow the students to remove a possibly autistic child from the classroom.

The teacher has since been re-assigned, but the uproar is still growing.  Laura used thePetitionSite to start a petition to vote the teacher out of her class.  The petition now has over 5,000 signatures, and today was featured on CNN - which likely will raise even more awareness.

We’ve seen this on many occasions – an individual sees a problem, takes action by setting up a petition, and suddenly it’s national news.   At the very minimum, the teacher has been removed from her position, and a lot more people are talking about this incident, the responsibilities of teachers, the importance of tolerance and support for children with disabilities.

It sounds like this story still hasn’t fully played out yet, but thank goodness for people like Laura who stand up and take action.  That’s how we make a difference.

This is from the category of fun Care2 news: Deepak Chopra was interviewed on CNN Headline News today by Glenn Beck and talked about how he is enthusiastic about the Care2 network. He emphasized the inclusive, positive approach of our community.

We're huge fans of Deepak (he's now also an advisor and spokesperson for Care2) so this is particularly rewarding to see.  His message of compassion, inclusion, connection and love for all aspects of life is beautifully aligned with our mission here.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun seeing him on CNN talking about Care2 and our wonderful community so just wanted to share that tonight.
