Most people are more comfortable with old problems than with new solutions. -- Anonymous
Comfort:
Today's word has a nice ring to it, it's something we all seek to provide a sense of knowing - a feeling of safety. Familiarity brings with it a certain sense of control, a safe space where our fear of the unknown is less domineering.
Comfort has its downside however. Have you ever stayed in a situation that was familiar, although you knew it wasn't making you genuinely happy? Have you ever thought about trying something, only to stop yourself without taking a risk? Our attachment to comfort can be costly. It can cause us to resist change, which is necessary for growth.
One of life's biggest lessons is learning to know comfort through constant change. In order to attain a sense of peace and still reach our fullest potential, we must seek comfort through developing higher levels of trust and faith. When we can find comfort even in times of upheaval and change it is a sign of tremendous spiritual growth.
Today's Exercise:
Reflect on comfort zones and what they mean to you in your life. Have you limited yourself by staying in familiar situations/conditions? How has this effected your level of joy, self- confidence, sense of purpose? What are some ways you can build the faith necessary to make changes and/or take chance.
Nothing feels better than the sense of pride that follows a job well done. This sense of satisfaction becomes a source of abundant positive, creative energy. We feel compelled to move forward, to grow and reach our fullest potential.
Accomplishments help fuel our faith and passion for life. When we allow ourselves to become disillusioned, to give up in the face of adversity or challenge, to feel overpowered by circumstance, we lose that sense of satisfaction, and along with it goes hope and initiative.
Each day we should strive to do something that propels us forward. We should take note of all our wins in life, even the seemingly small, because they add up into a stronger sense of self-worth.
Today's Exercise:
Begin a list of your accomplishments, how you felt as you reached these goals, and then reflect on them and let them inspire you to do more.

Sometimes things are not going to go according to the plans we make. There will be disappointments, but the key to a healthy, balanced life lies in acceptance.
Acceptance, far from being complacent, is actually very liberating. Acceptance means letting go of the "victim" mentality, and acknowledging our role as leaders in our lives. It is the first stage of the healing processes of release and forgiveness. Acceptance is a necessary component of growth that keeps us from remaining stuck in the past.
Choosing acceptance over denial enables us to be more objective, opening the door to alternative solutions. It allows us to live for today, fully in the moment, with no regrets. Valid solutions are elusive when we fight life's circumstances as opposed to empowering ourselves to manage them. What we resist persists, and in the act of letting go we attain clarity.
Today's Exercise:
Reflect on an aspect of yourself, or a situation in your life, that you have not been able to accept. What causes you to resist what is? How do you feel accepting this will benefit you? Can you see yourself moving beyond it? What steps can you take to reach this goal?
My children made a web magazine for a school project. Here are 2 pages of that , all art is theirs.Try these when you start to feel sluggish sitting at the computer for a long time, or better yet do them before you start to feel that way
Today's word asks us to take it easy and go with the flow. Often when we feel we are losing control of a situation, or when there are hidden fears we have surrounding it, we become impatient, nervous, or suffer the effects of stress. We find ourselves railing against the natural flow of life. Sometimes in the midst of apparent upheaval, it's difficult to realize that everything is going to work out for the highest good without added struggle.
Patience is a blend of faith, hope, and release. It is a practice, not always something that comes naturally. It comes from being able to find a place of peace, deep inside yourself, where hope resides. In this place you touch that inner knowing where you are unaffected by external situations.
Impatience is a fear based behavior pattern and drains a lot of energy that could be put into constructive action. Remember to be kind to yourself, and honor the personal power that you have to deal with your life's circumstances from a place of calm, rather than a place of chaos.
Today's Exercise:
Reflect on a situation that has tried your patience recently. Look deeply into this situation and try to uncover any fears that are the underlying causes. Sometimes simply uprooting the hidden fears and anxieties can lift a great weight, allowing us to more readily see different approaches or new solutions.
"Only the cancer victim himself can properly treat his own cancer." - Dr. William Kelley
Whether or not you submit to the standard treatments for cancer (surgery, radiation and chemotherapy), there are things you can do for yourself. Some patients undergoing the standard treatments become too weak to complete their treatment. The program you will find on this page and elsewhere in this website may help you build your strength to finish the treatment while helping to minimize side effects.
If you are working with an alternative medical practitioner, you will want to learn what you can do for yourself to complement the treatments you receive from your alternative physician. The cancer self-treatment program on this page is intended to complement and supplement the care you receive from your alternative physician.
Some parts of the 8 step program presented here have been advocated as alternative treatments for cancer, yet we find that they can also be components of a healthy lifestyle, worthy to be followed whether you have cancer or not. This is how the information on this page can be used by you to PREVENT CANCER and to prevent the recurrence of cancer.
If you already have cancer and want to know some things you can do for yourself, the information here is designed to give you an initial orientation and fast start, which you can supplement by reading some of the many books available.
Cancer and Oxygen
Dr. Otto Warburg received the Nobel prize in 1931 for the discovery that unlike all other cells in the human body, cancer cells do not breathe oxygen. Cancer cells are anaerobic, which means that they derive their energy without needing oxygen. For more information regarding cancer metabolism, please see our oxygen page. It turns out that cancer cells cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen and this has given rise to a variety of successful treatments based on oxygenating the tissues, such as intravenous hydrogen peroxide, hyperbaric oxygen tank, and blood ozonation (Diamond, pages 912-927). EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Therapy) is doing light exercise, such as on a treadmill or stationary bicycle, while breathing pure oxygen. EWOT produces the benefits of intravenous hydrogen peroxide therapy and you can do it at home.
Dietary supplementation with DMG (Dimethylglycine) increases oxygen utilization in hypoxic tissues, helping to prevent cancer and many other problems.
"The great advantage of knowing the prime cause of a disease is that it can then be attacked logically and over a broad front. This is particularly important in the case of cancer, with its numerous secondary and remote causes, and because it is often stated that in man alone there are over one hundred well-known and quite different kinds of cancer, usually with the implication that therefore we will have to find one or several hundred bases for prevention and treatment, and usually without any realization that this need not necessarily be the case now that we know that all cancers studied have a characteristic metabolism in common, a prime cause." - Dr. Otto Warburg, two time Nobel prize winner.
As a preventive and self-treatment, breathing exercises (such as pranayama) and an abundance of fresh air provide a starting point. Most people do not breathe deeply, so they lose the benefit of much of their lung capacity. Most indoor air is ten times more polluted than outdoor air, yet we spend up to 90% of our time indoors. Indoor air in every room needs to be constantly refreshed from the outside. Need we mention the importance of non-smoking? Aerobic exercise is useful to both oxygenate the tissues and move the lymph around.
Lymph is a colorless fluid that bathes every cell in the body. The body has two circulatory systems, one for blood and the other for lymph. Blood is circulated by the heart, whereas the lymph is circulated by physical exercise. Many tissues depend on the lymph to provide nutrients (including oxygen) and carry off wastes. If the lymph does not circulate then the tissues suffocate while stewing in their own acidic waste products (uric acid, lactic acid, etc.).
Cancer and pH
To understand why some tissues in the body are deficient in oxygen and therefore prone to cancer, it is helpful to understand the nature of acidity and alkalinity. Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water (H2O) decomposes into H+ and OH-. When a solution contains more H+ than OH- then it is said to be acid. When it contains more OH- than H+ then it is said to be alkaline.
When oxygen enters an acid solution it can combine with H+ ions to form water. Oxygen helps to neutralize the acid, while at the same time the acid prevents oxygen from reaching the tissues that need it. Acidic tissues are devoid of free oxygen.
An alkaline solution is just the reverse. Two hydroxyl ions (OH-) can combine to produce one water molecule and one oxygen atom. In other words, an alkaline solution can provide oxygen to the tissues.
The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. Below 7 is acid and above 7 is alkaline. The blood, lymph and cerebral spinal fluid in the human body are designed to be slightly alkaline at a pH of 7.4.
At a pH slightly above 7.4 cancer cells become dormant and at pH 8.5 cancer cells will die while healthy cells will live (Barefoot, pages 66-67). This has given rise to a variety of treatments based on increasing the alkalinity of the tissues such as vegetarian diet, the drinking of fresh fruit and vegetable juices, and dietary supplementation with alkaline minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, cesium and rubidium.
In Holland the vegetarian diet promoted by Dr. Moerman has been recognized by the government as a legitimate treatment for cancer. Results indicate that Dr. Moerman’s diet is more effective than standard cancer treatments (Jochems, 1990).
Based on the pH of saliva, here is a daily supplement program recommended by one physician (Barefoot, page 119) in order to help restore alkalinity to the body:
I am very interested in healing and am learning about a lot of different types of medicines and healing methods, especially natural healing methods. I have not succeeded at healing or curing my anemia. Anemia has been a problem for me for over 30 years. I have never had the cause investigated so far. I had only been told that it was due to pregnancy or breastfeeding and been given ferrous gluconate after other iron supplements tried were way too hard on my stomach. Even ferrous gluconate has made its bad effect on my stomach obvious, after taking them for the passed 30 years. Now , I am investigating other ways to get enough iron from foods and herbs . And finally, When I feel confident that I have found the right doctor that I can trust, I will have this anemia investigated. For years I've been dealing with heart palpitations, very low energy, depression because of lack of energy, sudden energy drains, although mostly overall lethargy. At times I would feel too sick to eat , with tingling and buzzing in my hands and feet. Other times I would over eat with impossible cravings for rich foods and carbohydrates, which generally put a lot of weight on me and just made me more tired. All that is tough for a mom with 8 children , homeschooling and constant moving around, which I'm sure added to this lack of energy. What really scares me though, is that I started getting a lack of enthusiasm on top of all of this. At 51 going onto 52 I really don't need that . I love studying, exercises and good healthy foods, so I decided to do something about this with or without a doctor.
