Australian's wild horses need your help now!

"Ariel killing of wild horses has been conducted with the support of government and the RSPCA in the state of Queensland in Australia.

Australia could not have been settled without the help of these wonderful animals.
The wild Brumby is an integral part of our cultural heritage.
In peace and war they have given their hearts and lives for us.

We, the undersigned, are greatly concerned at this inhumane and cruel method of slaughter.
Of particular concern is the slaughter of mares due to foal and mares with newborn foals at foot.
There exist more humane ways to lower the numbers (where necessary) of these highly intelligent, hardy and beautiful animals.
We the undersigned request an immediate end to aerial culling of wild horses."

All marksmen are accredited through the Department of Primary Industries/ QPWS Helicopter Marksman Training Course, and have experience in conducting aerial control programs."

Letter to the Prime Minister

Dear Mr Howard

Hiya

As a hands on practicioner of permaculture on various properties on the east coast of Australia varying in location from Bangor (near the ANSTO run Lucas Heights Nuclear Research facilities) to Magnetic Island in North Queensland, climate change in my lifetime has been very stark and clear.

From my birth at Bronte Beach in Sydney, 46 years ago, to my current residence on 41 acres of bushland near Bundaberg, in Qld, Australia, mankind's dramatic effect on our planet has been all too obvious.


My preschool days were spent roaming naked and wild across the shores of the beachfront at Bronte, where i explored every intricate nook and cranie of the magical gully. Almost every day, in awe, i gazed upon the magnificent colours of the sky reflecting over the incredibly violent surf on sunset..., at sunrise..., and as the golden moon rose out of the crystal clear lines of the endless horizon. These were the ultimate highlights of my carefree days.

I wondered, way back then, about a dark line which formed at times across my crystal clear horizon line. Why, on some days was the sky not its usual clear "self"? What was that strange cloud that streched ever so thinly, yet seemed to be getting gradually darker, and stronger? It was not a storm cloud, yet at times it lingered for days, without rain falling. That dark line created questions in my mind.

Questions i tried to articulate to my highly respected Aunty Peggy. Her answers didn't make sense to my young mind. "that's just smog, too much industry", she would reply. "too many people driving cars". As a statement of fact.

My soul told me that this was not a good thing.

It was a thing that someone should do something about.

I wondered what I could do. I wondered for many years.

When i was rich enough, i owned a backyard. There, I grew my own organic veggies for my new family and neighbours on a tiny patch of ground. In my spare time, I helped broken wildlife back to a place that may not be destroyed by developers, if i hoped hard enough. Meanwhile I earned my weekly wage from companies such as Ampol/Caltex (in the Industrial Relations Department, for Colin Geeves), ICI (now Orica), Westpac, Alcatel and part time in various fancy restaurants. My husband and I owned a large car while our petrol was subsidised by my employer, a very large house in a very nice area, surrounded by lovely neighbours and holding lovely views over the city of Sydney and the Wanny River towards Bonnet Bay.

Still the line of smog grew darker and ever more ominous.

I ran as the Greens Candidate in the Federal Elections twice. The second time, against Paul Neville in the seat of Hinkler, my eye's were opened on the institutionalised corruption within our current system.

I realised that learning was the key and that a positive future had to be outcome.


Please, Mr Howard, the time to act for a sustainable future for your constituents is NOW!

Nuclear power is not the solution, it is our enemy. It is the enemy of our future and of our children's future. The poison must remain where it belongs. In the ground.

It is safe there. It is not safe when it leaves the ground.

We must listen to our Aboriginal heritage, the heritage of whatever nation we originate.

We must leave our garden of eden as we found her.

In peace, in beauty, and safe.

Boundless Energy is given to all of us freely. We simply need to utilise that energy.

The power of the Earth (geothermal), Wind, Water (tidal), and Fire (solar). Investing our funds into CLEAN, SAFE, VIABLE, SUSTAINABLE energy sources is the way forward paved clearly for us to choose.

I am asking your constituents, and yourself to please endorse a petition to demand that our funds be reinvested not into the pockets of destroyers and poisoners, but into the hands of sustainable employment, sustainable development, sustainable farming practices and a peaceful life for all generations to come.
