So why am I rattling on about food? Well, quite apart from being hungry, I guess the answer is because today I had the most amazing ice cream! Anyway I have been neglecting my writing in favour of the phone and Jewels has to take Cecilie to the vet so I am blogging before I ring Care 2 friends....
Rum and raisin and a mint chocolate double. Heaven on a hot day and at my favourite Lincolnshire pit stop, the Elkington tearooms and village shop at South Elkington near Louth.
Sarah is always so friendly and the inevitable garage sandwich en route has come to be replaced by a delicious bacon butty and fresh coffee. Naughty me as I am mostly vegetarian but these little tastes of Lincolnshire have me bowled over.
I buy Lincolnshire honey and luxury jams here. Little handmade cards - made locally -and Dennett's award winning Lincolnshire ice cream.... handmade over 4 generations! There are so many gorgeous flavours including licorice and Bailey's Irish Cream.
Why do I tell you this? In hopes that when you pass on the road between Louth and Gainsborough and see the flags, adventure playground and garden furniture you will call in and experience this lovely little village shop and tea room for yourself.
And when you come to me, Jewels, I will take you there en route to visit Elaine Drewery, mother of the lead singer in Swing Out Sister, and owner manager of this weird and totally amazing local Hedgehog Hospital at Authorpe. Whoever said Lincolnshire wasn't interesting?
To misquote Noddy Holder and Slade:
"I said Mama mama mama we're ALL crazy here"....
In the nicest possible way..... and always in the best possible taste!!!
SPRING! It's been
springing up all over the
place! Dandelions,
clover, plantain and
other valuable herbs all
over the yard, birds
singing, sweet smells in
the air, everything
turning so green and the
blossoms on the trees
coming in bloom...
We all know that we're

but do we really know why
that is? Shouldn't
we be on our best

time? Is behaving

we're not when we're not
being a hypocrite wh...

My own
