My mom designated me as her caregiving aide in which I gladly accepted. I often reminisce on all she had done for me and my family so.... in essence, it was a no brainer. What really breaks my heart is when I take her grocery shopping - she gets so little. Watching her pick up items she wants and putting them back because she can't afford them, brings tears to my eyes. There is no way I am going to let her put items back that she needs - I pay for them.
What irritates me is how little senior citizens have to live on. All they have given to this country...all they have gone through to ensure future generations will have a "future".
Why is it so hard to give back to our parents and grandparents? They stayed up with us all night when we were babies....comforted us when we were going through a crisis...made sure we had the necessities in life...cooked our meals...spoiled us rotten....took up for us when we thought the world was against us....and loved us when no one else did.
The elderly paved the way for us to accomplish things that could have never been accomplished if they didn't fight for us to have certain rights...dreams...jobs...pay....opinions....
You see, all that we are and have stems from their blood line. We can "do" because they have "done".
