Hi Everyone,

I would like to extend this opportunity to you, to help victims of family violence and  at the same time, help save their companion animals.  Many of us have been touched by violence in our lives, whether it was personally, a family member or a friend.  Perhaps many of us are still suffering "in silence".

Please open up your hearts to this urgent cause.  The Mission AnimEscale desperately needs our on-going support.  Please give these families a gift of love, happiness, peace and security.

YOU can help their Mission by giving your support to victims of violence. Recently, despite a deficit of over 30.000$ to date, the Mission welcomed a little dog who needed medical care for his physical condition. Even if this little one is in one of their foster homes, AnimEscale does pay all the veterinary care for him, as well as for all the other animals who they welcome into their hearts and homes.  Not long ago, they could not accept a family’s request to foster their cat, because the family was without financial resources and the Mission did not have any money left for the vaccines needed. That morning, they also received a call from a shelter’s representative for two sweet little dogs in need for protection and foster. They too, had to be refused, because of lack of funds. What will be their fate, now that they had to stay with the abusive spouse? Imagine the sadness of a young child and his Mother, who feel so guilty to leave them behind!!   Just a few hundreds dollars more and they would have been safe, cared for, and this family would have been given the hope it needed for their loyal companions. What happens to them is not their fault.  To think of the poor children who have already lost so much and  most likely will be separated from their pets is heart-breaking.  At this stage the question is  - which person, which animal will they have to leave behind?  Often, the family pets are the only source left to give security and trust in these persons' lives.

Since September 2009, Mondou, a pet supply enterprise, stopped their donation of food to the Mission until next year, due to financial limitations. But, their cats, dogs, birds and rabbits still have to eat and the AnimEscale is now in a more precarious situation.  Despite all their efforts each month, they do not receive any subsidy and can only rely on donations to pursue their mission.

PLEASE, let us all help these families.  Tell them that their pets are not forgotten and do not have to be left behind or euthanized.  What could be a more special gift for this Xmas, to receive dignity and liberty, to have a comfortable, safe roof over their heads WITH their beloved pet companions, away from misery and pain!!  We must make a strong chain of human compassion and make the resources that AnimEscale offers, available for every pet companion. We can all make a clear difference between hope and mourning!!

I am asking you to help the Mission. Many of the 2008 donors did not sign up this year, due to the difficult economical crisis, but the families' needs are growing!   Can you ask a friend, family member and colleague to help? YES, you can.

We are all so privileged to be safe, not even knowing what living in fear, anguish and pain is.  Why not share this chance of happiness, to those in desperate need? For any donation over 20,00$, you will receive a tax receipt. You can donate online with CanadaHelps, PayPal or mail a cheque to Mission AnimEscale CP 5691, Sainte-Julienne, Qc J0K 2T0.  All currencies are accepted.

Their "DONATE" page explains all the easy ways for you to support their mission: http://www.animescale.com/Donate.html

Note that the Mission's site is also in English and Spanish.

Please spread the word and post to your web sites.

With heartfelt thanks.

THE ANIMALS' SAVIOUR

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter,
the cast offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes, love and hope, fear and
dread, sadness and betrayal.

And I was angry.

"God," I said, "This is TERRIBLE!
Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then
He spoke softly.
"I have done something," He replied.

"I created you."

Hi Everyone Please help me try to save dog Brindi. I have been working on this cause since August 2008. It will soon be one year, since she has been held at the Halifax shelter. Her owner, Francesca has been fighting a legal battle to get her out since she was seized. They were going to euthanize Brindi in August 2008. The case went to the Supreme court and in January, 2009 the judge quashed the euthanization order. However, Francesca's ex-lawyer failed to submit a request to the court for her release. So the shelter would not let Brindi go home and charged Francesca with 3 by-law violations one hour before the expiration of the statute of limitations. She has to go back to court, but the court cases are backlogged and now Francesca's case may only come up in 2010. Francesca doesn't even have a lawyer yet, as her former lawyer withdrew from the case, without any recommendation to other legal counsel. In addition to that, he has sued Francesca for approximately $51,000. for fees. During the time he acted as Francesca's counsel, he never once submitted an invoice. In fact, he told her when she hired him, that his professional fees would be pro-bono for part or all, above his estimate of $12,000. I know this to be a fact, as I controlled the bookkeeping for donations and expenses. As well, I was an administrator on the Facebook group "Save Brindi" and I had set the fundraising goal for $12,000. Francesca is almost bankrupt at this point. Meanwhile poor Brindi will continue to be locked up in a shelter, that is only meant for short-stay periods. Only recently did the shelter give Francesca permission to visit Brindi 1/2 hour a week with over 10 restrictions. She is not even allowed to bring Brindi her beef bones, which she so loves. The bones are considered to be of "high value". Is that ridiculous or what!!! For your information, Brindi did not do anything to warrant a death sentence. She broke away from Francesca one day and ran to the edge of her property where a man & his dog were passing. They had a scuffle and Brindi left a small puncture mark on the other dog that didn't even pierce the skin. Since she has been in the shelter she was evaluated by a dog specialist and she was deemed NOT dangerous! She just needs a little training. Francesca had adopted Brindi from a shelter in 2007, after Brindi had been there for 2 years. We all know that locking an animal up for so long affects the animal in some way. But this can be fixed ! . So please, if you have not already done so, help Brindi by signing her petition, and view the video below, that my American friend, Gisele Veilleux made for me yesterday. PLEASE SIGN THIS URGENT PETITION TO HELP US CLOSE THIS GAS CHAMBER.

We know about the SPCA's and the Humane Societies, but what do we know about dog pounds? For most rural dwellers, they're called the dog catchers.

The dog catcher goes door to door selling dog tags. A list of these dogs is compiled. If a dog goes missing, a call to the local dog catcher should get you your dog. Not always. The dog catcher also has a list of puppy millers, and back yard breeders who buy purebred un-altered dogs. They have a list of laboratories who buy dogs for research. Against these odds, what are the chances that you'll get your dog back tagged or not?

The fate of a pound dog goes unquestioned. Most dog pounds are unregulated, and unsupervised. In rural areas, the criteria to get the job as dog catcher is to possess a hunting permit. Shooting stray dogs is a method of euthanasia.

Dog pounds sell unaltered purebred dogs to millers, and healthy dogs to laboratories. This alone becomes a lucrative business for a dog pound. The sick and maimed don't stand a chance. They are the victims left behind in the gas chamber.

There is as much money to be made off the backs of animals in dog pounds as there is in puppy mills.

Dog Pounds like the one in St-Lin, Quebec where we will be holding a major demonstration on June 20, 2009 at 1:00pm, are involved in the following businesses:

    - They have 37 municipal contracts as the dog catcher.
    - They give out breeders licenses
    - They sell dog and cat tags
    - They board dogs and cats
    - They offer a grooming service
    - They gas dogs.

Should a dog pound also be a breeder? I see a huge conflict of interest, as their gas chamber is filled to capacity while they're churning out new puppies.

Should a dog pound be giving out breeders licenses?  Everyday dogs and cats are killed in the unsupervised dogs pounds across the nation, in the hands of apathy.

    Dog Pounds The Silent Killers:

While the dogs are put in loose, the cats are stuffed into cat carriers.

The dogs are put into the gas chamber with a long pole and a choker around their necks. The dogs are petrified as they are being swung into the chamber. The dogs are put loose into the gas chamber. The dogs are in a heightened level of stress. Dogs fight with each other and the floor is covered with blood.

They cry begging for help. No one is listening. They walk around looking for a way out. They go toward the door where they were put into the chamber. Suddenly they hear a hissing sound .... they look around hoping that someone is coming to take them home. The dogs struggle to stay standing. They go down. They empty their bowels and their bladders. They gasp for breath as the gas is entering their lungs. Ten to fifteen minutes later the dogs are no longer moving. There's no more crying, no groaning, no gasping. It's silent in the chamber. The killer gas has done it's ghastly job.

After some time the one who put them into gas chamber begins to drag their lifeless bodies into the refrigerated container. They are piled one on top of the other. The refrigerator door is closed.

The following day, when the refrigerator door is opened to bring in the new victims, some dogs who had been gassed the day before are seen wagging their tails. These dogs are then put into the incinerator. If they did not die in the gas chamber, and they did not die in the refrigerated container, WERE THEY DEAD WHEN THEY WERE PLACED IN THE INCINERATOR?

Animaquebec who is mandated to oversee these pounds has again greatly failed the animals of Quebec. Anyone off the streets can get the job of killing animals in the gas chamber. He's told how to shove them in and how to push the buttons. There is no veterinarian to certify that the animals are dead.

I have the affidavit of a former employee of the dog pound of St-Lin who confirmed that he had no formal training on how to KILL. He was told in effort to cut down on the amount of feces and urine in the gas chamber, that the dogs and cats on death row not be fed for the last 3 days of their lives, and to give them only a bit of water. He said this was a directive from Animaquebec.

I was at a dog pound where their method of killing was to not feed the dogs or give them water, where they died in agony in a cold, cold cell. This dog pound has since been shut down.

A witness who does not want to be known, saw an inspector of Inspecteur Canin pick up a stray dog and put him in the back of the van. He then pulled out a baseball bat and beat him to death. Chances are the dog did not die on the first blow. Was it to save money, or just for the sport. If he was seen doing this once, we have to wonder how many other times did he do this?

Another witness said they saw Inspecteur Canin kill dogs with a 2x4 in the back of the building. I reported this to a journalist of TVA who investigated, and found bones and carcasses, and reported it to the Ministry of the Environment who levied a fine against this dog pound.

Another's method of killing was to fill a metal container full of water, place the dog in the container, and electrocute the screaming animal with battery cables. This pound has been shut down. I can't help but wonder who lays awake at night thinking of these sadistic ways to kill in effort to save money. Where is Animaquebec?

Some pet stores, when the puppies are not sold and get too big for their cages are brought outside the back and are bludgeoned to death with a hammer, mallet, or an axe. This was very common at one time. I'm quite certain that this practice is curbed, as the public is much more aware since my lawsuit against the Ministry of Agriculture and Animaquebec.

There are no regulations, guide lines, or inspections for dog pounds. The sky's the limit. I often wonder about the psychopaths of society who like to torture animals, who can walk into any dog pound and buy animals for research and will commit heinous cruelties on these defenceless creatures. Nobody cares. Here's the dog, you owe me $50.

A former volunteer, at the Inspecteur Canin Pound, who chose not to give her name wrote that when she opened the freezer, she saw kittens walking on the dead animals. This was another way for this pound to kill innocent living, breathing creatures. This pound and all pounds in Canada MUST be closed NOW!  By signing this most important petition, we will be sending a powerful message to the government to act.

There remains a group who are so persistently abused and marginalized that their suffering is ingrained in our everyday lives. If animals could talk, their chorus of cries would drown out every other noise in the world. We are all animals. We are all living, breathing beings who share the same Earth. We all feel pain when we are hurt, and we all have the right to experience kindness and compassion.
