Prior to Xmas, 2009, I sent out this message to help victims of violence and their family pets.  Unfortunately and sadly, to date, only C$175.00 has been donated.  I know that the economic crises is affecting everyone, including myself and the causes never cease to help the needy.   But, every dollar counts and is very much appreciated.   To  feed the animals alone, the cost is now $500.00.  AnimEscale is the only organization in the WORLD helping familes and their companion pets, WITHOUT any government subsidy  and they can only rely on donations to pursue their mission.

In 2009, despite a deficit of over $30,000, the Mission welcomed a little dog who needed medical care for his physical condition. Even if this little one is in one of their foster homes, AnimEscale does pay all the veterinary care for him, as well as for all the other animals who they welcome into their hearts and homes.  Not long ago, they could not accept a family’s request to foster their cat, because the family was without financial resources and the Mission did not have any money left for the vaccines needed. That morning, they also received a call from a shelter’s representative for two sweet little dogs in need for protection and foster. They too, had to be refused, because of lack of funds. What will be their fate, now that they had to stay with the abusive spouse? Imagine the sadness of a young child and his Mother, who feel so guilty to leave them behind!!   Just a few hundreds dollars more and they would have been safe, cared for, and this family would have been given the hope it needed for their loyal companions. What happens to them is not their fault.  To think of the poor children who have already lost so much and  most likely will be separated from their pets is heart-breaking.  At this stage the question is  - which person, which animal will they have to leave behind?  Often, the family pets are the only source left to give security and trust in these persons' lives.

Since September 2009, Mondou, a pet supply enterprise in Canada, stopped their donation of food to the Mission until further notice, due to financial limitations. But, their cats, dogs, birds and rabbits still have to eat.

PLEASE, let us all help these families.  Tell them that their pets are not forgotten and do not have to be left behind or euthanized.  What could be greater that to receive  dignity and liberty, to have a comfortable, safe roof over their heads WITH their beloved pet companions, away from misery and pain!!  We must make a strong chain of human compassion and make the resources that AnimEscale offers, available for every pet companion. We can all make a clear difference between hope and mourning!!

I am asking you again, to help the Mission AnimEscale.   Can you ask a friend, family member and colleague to help?

We are all so privileged to be safe, not even knowing what living in fear, anguish and pain is.  Why not share this chance of happiness, to those in desperate need? For any donation over $20,00, you will receive a tax receipt. You can donate online with CanadaHelps, PayPal or mail a cheque to Mission AnimEscale CP 5691, Sainte-Julienne, Qc J0K 2T0.  All currencies are accepted.

Their "DONATE" page explains all the easy ways for you to support their mission: http://www.animescale.com/Donate.html

Note that the Mission's site is also in English and Spanish.

Please spread the word and post to your web sites.

With heartfelt thanks.

Hi Everyone Please help me try to save dog Brindi. I have been working on this cause since August 2008. It will soon be one year, since she has been held at the Halifax shelter. Her owner, Francesca has been fighting a legal battle to get her out since she was seized. They were going to euthanize Brindi in August 2008. The case went to the Supreme court and in January, 2009 the judge quashed the euthanization order. However, Francesca's ex-lawyer failed to submit a request to the court for her release. So the shelter would not let Brindi go home and charged Francesca with 3 by-law violations one hour before the expiration of the statute of limitations. She has to go back to court, but the court cases are backlogged and now Francesca's case may only come up in 2010. Francesca doesn't even have a lawyer yet, as her former lawyer withdrew from the case, without any recommendation to other legal counsel. In addition to that, he has sued Francesca for approximately $51,000. for fees. During the time he acted as Francesca's counsel, he never once submitted an invoice. In fact, he told her when she hired him, that his professional fees would be pro-bono for part or all, above his estimate of $12,000. I know this to be a fact, as I controlled the bookkeeping for donations and expenses. As well, I was an administrator on the Facebook group "Save Brindi" and I had set the fundraising goal for $12,000. Francesca is almost bankrupt at this point. Meanwhile poor Brindi will continue to be locked up in a shelter, that is only meant for short-stay periods. Only recently did the shelter give Francesca permission to visit Brindi 1/2 hour a week with over 10 restrictions. She is not even allowed to bring Brindi her beef bones, which she so loves. The bones are considered to be of "high value". Is that ridiculous or what!!! For your information, Brindi did not do anything to warrant a death sentence. She broke away from Francesca one day and ran to the edge of her property where a man & his dog were passing. They had a scuffle and Brindi left a small puncture mark on the other dog that didn't even pierce the skin. Since she has been in the shelter she was evaluated by a dog specialist and she was deemed NOT dangerous! She just needs a little training. Francesca had adopted Brindi from a shelter in 2007, after Brindi had been there for 2 years. We all know that locking an animal up for so long affects the animal in some way. But this can be fixed ! . So please, if you have not already done so, help Brindi by signing her petition, and view the video below, that my American friend, Gisele Veilleux made for me yesterday.

    Message from Cécile Boivin

I am very sad and in shock that my NAYA was lost since Thursday, February 26, in the afternoon. I am asking your help to find her by keeping eyes and ears wide open and asking help from people you know. She may be anywhere.

    Here is how she disappeared.

Naya was living temporarely with my brother-in-law on Rang du Grand-Bois in Mont-St-Grégoire, South of Montreal, Quebec. On Thurday afternoon, as they do often, he went out with Naya and Coca (mixed lab) in the fields and woods behind his land. While coming back from the walk, the 2 dogs saw deer and they just ran after them. My brother-in-law called them back immediately but only Coca came back, but not NAYA. Since then, we have been constantly looking for her.
    .
I'm very depressed by her loss. I am also terribly afraid  because the Portuguese Water Dog is a RARE BREED, more and more in demand, mostly after the decision of the Obama family to adopt one. I'm afraid that Naya was found by people who might want to profit from the fact that my Naya is not sterilized.

Therefore, since the Portuguese Water Dog is a rare breed and the fact that we are 9 -10 breeders in Quebec (some do not have many litters per year), I'm asking for your collaboration to find Naya.

If you hear that someone has found a dog, please ask for a description of the dog. Few people know about the Portuguese Water Dog or could identify one as a PWD.

If you hear, in a couple of months, about a litter of Portuguese Water Dogs or a mixed PWDs, please ask  where they are from, the breeder and/or kennel and call me. I know all PWDs breeders. To date, there are no non-registered PWDs or mixed PWDs.

Thank you in advance for your collaboration.

    PLEASE HELP ME.

    BE VIGILANT
    WE MUST FIND NAYA

The following horses needs foster homes by the end of the week. They are a by product of the end of the standardbred racing industry. Please consider fostering (or adopting) them so we can find them permanent  homes. They do not deserve to die because of people  They are GREAT HORSES!!!!

We have to put an end to horses ending up at the slaughterhouse. Please give them a chance! They give humans so
much without asking for anything in return.

    * 2 year old standardbred stallion....soon to be gelded

    * 12 and 13 year old standardbred sisters ...have been together their whole lives healthy

    * 7 year old standardbred mare.....has raced and is healthy

If anyone can help especially for the previous 4 horses please call immediately.

These horses are STILL looking for homes.................

     * MacKenzie- this beautiful, tiny 3 year old standardbred  has never been trained to race she should be easy to train as a saddle horse. She is perfectly healthy.

    * Standard bred mare - 3 years old...Never raced, she has a great personality, very friendly, easy to handle and intellegent...had slight foot problems but has been treated and is recovered.

    * 7 year old Standardbred mare- was used as a broodmare for many years but her babies ended up blind so she was no longer usefull to her owners. She  is perfectly healthy, easy to handle and is eager to learn.what a friendly horse!

    * 8 month old colt standardbred...he was to be sent to slaughter because he was born blind in one eye, which means nothing. It will not affect his life or his ability to do or learn anything. He really needs a home that will give him time to learn.

    * 4 year old standardbred gelding. Just off the track and is stunning. Broke a bone in foot but will heal and be a great horse.

    * Alaskan 14 year old standardbred and is ridable He was on riding school but an old racing injury makes him able to do only light work

    * 18 year old school horse great for riding, loves trails but better for an experienced rider.

    * 18 year old school horse. Will be OK for riding after a little break from the hard work she has been doing.

    * 10 year old thouroughbred mare, good for trails but with experienced rider.

    * 7 year old pony mare. She is not good with children and needs someone who has patience to show her she will not be hurt but will be able to handle her carefully. She originally comes from New Brunswick and was beaten. On top of that she was tramatized by the death of her foal. He died before she could give birth and he had to be cut piece by piece out of her. She does not have much time,  as her owners do not want her around, as they consider her unsafe. If we do not find her a home she will be killed. Please consider giving her a home and changing her life. It is a challenge but in the end rewarding.

    * 30 year old companion pony....needs home ASAP.

    PLEASE HELP WITH THESE HORSES!!

    Thanks!

RR Refuge for Horses is located in Eastern Ontario, Canada. They rescue
hundreds of horses each year. They keep the most severe cases at the refuge
    for their life time.

But, each year, some horses that are healthy and non-residents, are placed
for adoption or foster care as per the list below. If  RR Refuge kept all the horses they rescued, there would be a million by now.

If anyone is interested in giving a horse a permanent loving home or foster
care, please contact Rose at  blick.gerg@sympatico.ca

MESSAGE FROM RR REFUGE FOR HORSES

All these horses are in desperate need of homes. We are 2 months behind
schedule trying to find them homes because of our water problem ( we now have water, though we don't know for how long )   They need homes or at least fosters for the winter. We know we will have to rescue so many more that will be suffering at  the hands of people and will have to endure the brutal winter months  starving.  All of us together can help out and save them!  Please open your heart and home to an animal that works its entire life for people!!!

*****URGENT: He needs a home before Monday,  DECEMBER 22, 2008*******.

Duke- This 30+ Clydes is the friendliest big guy around. He worked pulling a
caleche in Montreal for his whole life. RR Refuge managed to convince to owner to give him up and not send him to slaughter after all the hard work he has done.  If you want a great friend who will appreciate love more than anyone, please consider giving him a final and well deserved home and retirement.

Shawnee( 29 year old appaloosa) and Bailey (23 year old quarter horse). These old school horses are as sweet as they come. These two elderly ladies  have suffered enough at the hands of humans.....their previous owners tried to starve them to death  health and need loving  final homes together.

Nikky  (20 year old Irish  thoroughbred) and Billy (12 year old Canadian) - if anyone has ever had an illness you can understand that you need loving care to keep going and feel good.  Nikky is beautiful and friendly but she is diabetic. .Basically what she needs is access to as much water as she can drink, good supplements and proper feed..  Billy is her long time companion is the biggest teddy bear around. They need a forever loving home together.

Tara (8 year old palamino), Lyra ( year and a half year old baby) and Shelby  (stunning and fun 4 year old palamino gelding)  This whole clan needs to go to a home together. They have suffered abuse and starvaton and  are so happy to be together. They are all healthy and even though their  previous owners used the money that was meant to buy their food for drugs  instead and abandoned them with no food for weeks on end. They have learned to trust people again!

Kim  (12 year old Quarter horse gelding) was also rescued from a abusive and neglected situation. Has some feet issues but with proper trimming he should be fine.

Larry and Moe( hackney x clydes)- these old fellas are 29 and 30 years old. They are brothers that have been together for their whole lives. They  have been in parades, and love human attention. The woman who was supposed to adopt them fell ill and now the foster home can no longer keep them.

Sitka is a 12 year old paint mare, quiet personality, because of neglect she had leg problems but looks physically stunning and with proper feed and foot care she is healthy as a horse.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE FEW  standard breeds that have escaped death with the
demise of the racing industry in Quebec.

PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING ONE OF THEM A NEW  CHANCE ON LIFE.THEY ARE EXTREMELY FAST LEARNING AND VERY AFFECTIONATE!

MacKenzie- this beautiful, tiny 3 year old standardbred  has never been trained to race she should be easy to train as a saddle horse. She is perfectly healthy.

    * 6 month old colt standard bred..He was to be sent to slaughter because he was born blind in one eye,.which means nothing..  It will not affect  his life or his ability to do or learn anything. He really needs a home that will give him time to learn about kind people.

*3 year old registered newfoundland pony. He is cute as a button and very sturdy, 13 hands healthy. He was rescued from going to slaughter.

7 year old pony mare....she is not good with children and needs someone who
has patience to show her she will not be hurt but will be able to handle her

Marley  is a blue eyed solid paint mare who is funny and smart. She is the clown  of the herd. She is approx.12 and came originally from an abusive and neglected situation. Healthy!

Wyomie- no painting will do this 4 year old paint justice. She is beyond stunning.she came from and abusive and neglected situation but is very healthy now..Very curious and loves people
