Wood is the world's most renewable raw material. For this reason, forests and the wood they provide, are vital in the fight against climate change. As the effects of global warming impact on our environment, the use of renewable and sustainable building materials, has never been so important.
The stages of the wood story-planting and renewal, growth, harvesting, and use are part of a renewable cycle that takes, and stores carbon dioxide, from the atmosphere, making wood a truly carbon-neutral building material.
The time has come to fight climate change, and we each need to look for ways, we can contribute to the fight. Using wood, is something we can all do, to help the environment. By demanding and using more wood, we can ensure that more trees will be planted, and more carbon dioxide will be absorbed from the atmosphere. The result is a better world for ourselves, our families, and future generations. It's simple. Wood. Manage it responsibly. Consume it voraciously. For a better world.
This winter, lucky dogs all over the world will enjoy a warm, comfortable home, and the love, care, and respect of their owners. But dogs like this, are not so lucky. She's one of thousands living on the streets of the Middle East, where life is tougher than you can imagine.

Performing dolphins have been the main attraction at Napier's Marineland, New Zealand, for more than four decades, but the show is now over after a report by Parliament's local body and environment select committee upheld the Department of Conservation's policy of banning the importation or capture of dolphins, last week.
Despite petitions to introduce more dolphins to preserve the iconic facility and benefit local tourism, the Dolphin versus Dollars issue is now dead in the water, leaving Kelly as the last dolphin to live at the Marineland facility.
The select committee reported on a petition lodged by Napier's Labour list MP Russell Fairbrother, asking Parliament to take note of another that was organised by Napier City Councillor Harry Lawson. Harry's petition, with 13,500 signatures, asked for Marineland to be allowed to acquire new dolphins.
The committee declined to change the policy in favour of accepting scientific evidence provided by DOC and others, on the detrimental impact that captivity has on dolphins. Harry, who is disappointed with the outcome, says the biggest impact will be on tourism. "We are sacrificing our competitive edge on the altar of political correctness and, quite frankly, having no performing dolphins is just one more great reason for tourists not to come to Napier," he says. "Most people think Im a supporter of dolphins, but Im not. My petition was about supporting what the people of Napier want. "I am totally fiummoxed that Napier people can't get what they want through their council, which won't support them, so the decision is then made by the government, which obviously takes more notice of the 'ultra greenies'."
Marineland manager, Gary MacDonald, is more philosophical and positive about the outcome. "The result came as no surprise, we expected it and it does put the dolphin issue to bed, but the decision should have been made years ago," Gary says. "For the past few years we've been planning a future without dolphins, and the decision will hopefully allow everyone to move on." Gary says Kelly is still going strong after her pool mate, Shona, passed away 2 1/2 years ago.
Napier mayor Barbara Arnott has indicated Marineland will not be able to continue as a zoo once Kelly dies, because without dolphins the facility will not attract enough visitors to cover the annual $800,000 operating costs. She says the Napier City Council will look at ways of using Marineland so that it won't be an outgoing burden to ratepayers.
At one stage it was hoped that Marieland could attract outside funding to continue its work as a marine animal hospital, but this seems unlikely. Since Marineland opened in 1965, more than four million people have visited the facility, but numbers have increasingly declined over the years.
There's no denying dolphins are cute, but many believe in their right to freedom, and to study them on their own terms in the oceans massive realm, acoustically defined, where they communicate across hundreds of miles in their own global society. Studies show marine mammals develop unusually bonds strong with one another., and they depend heavily on their position within the group, or pod, for their identity.
Parliament's report stated "the department did not support the keeping of dolphins in captivity and that human interaction with them should be limited."
Perhaps the time has come to end the lucrative commercial ventures-the circuses of the sea-that catch, confine and display these intelligent mammals, and ultimately questions our own humanity.
