I just received notice that the 14th panther has been killed, and I am going out of my head with this already. We are watching a majestic and noble animal go extinct right under our noses, and I don't know what it is with Care2 but for some reason it seems the Panthers don't deserve a measly 3000 signatures. You my friends are the ones I know can affect people, and I am asking now for your desperate help in doing everything possible to get the petition

A dead Florida panther was found today in Miami-Dade County on U.S. 41 a mile east of Krome Avenue, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials.

The panther was apparently killed by a vehicle. It is a 120-pound male estimated to be about 4 years old. It did not have a radio collar or transponder chip.

While the panther was reported at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, authorities did not find the panther until 11 a.m. today.

The panther was the 14th killed on Florida roads this year. A record number of Florida Panthers have been killed on roads in 2007.

As a personal favor to me, please read Pepper's story, and sign her guestbook - this is a sweet lamb that was born while her mother was on the way to the slaughter house, 6 years ago.

Pepper would have been slaughtered with her mom if not for the Angelman's (friends of my family).

She lives a beautiful life now, and a person moved in next door whose 2 large dogs bark at Pepper through her fence, which irritates the neighbor, so he has abused his influence as a cop to get Pepper's legal status changed, and now the family is being forced to give their baby up, probably to be slaughtered.

Folks, where Pepper lives is FARM country!

Please read the story and sign the guestbook (you don't have to leave your email if you don't want to), as this goes before City Council July 9th.

She has even been the lamb in the Nativity scenes for the town! Just read for yourselves, I'm too mad! -

By the way, officer Wentz did NOT want it known that he is a cop and used that to get his way, but fact is fact.

URGENT: Congress to Vote on Trophy Hunting of Polar Bears!

Dear Jennieb,

Polar bears face the threat of global warming and melting ice in the Arctic, but shockingly, American trophy hunters still travel to Canada to shoot these animals in a head-hunting exercise. This Tuesday, the full U.S. House of Representatives may vote on an amendment by Reps. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) to prohibit the import of sport-hunted polar bear trophies into the United States. A similar amendment was approved last week by a Senate committee, and now it is critical that we focus on the House. Tell your Representative to protect polar bears.

Historically, American residents have not been allowed to import polar bear trophies under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. In 1994, however, Congress bowed to trophy hunting interests and created a loophole that allows the importation of polar bear trophies from Canada. Since then, more than 800 import permits have been issued.

The Inslee-LoBiondo Amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill would stop funding for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to issue permits for the importation of sport-hunted polar bear trophies. This would discourage U.S. trophy hunters from killing polar bears because they couldn't bring the heads and hides back across the border.

TAKE ACTION
Please make a brief, polite phone call to your U.S. Representative, John Carter, today at (202) 225-3864 and urge a vote of YES on the Inslee-LoBiondo Amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill to protect polar bears.

Making a phone call is easy. A staff member will take your message and pass it to your legislator. You can say:

"My name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your city and state] to urge Representative Carter to vote YES on the Inslee-LoBiondo Amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill to protect polar bears. At a time when polar bears are threatened by global warming and vanishing habitat, we should not allow American trophy hunters to kill these creatures in Canada just to bring home their heads and hides as trophies. Thank you."

After you make your call, send a follow-up email to your U.S. Representative to reiterate your concern for polar bears.

Finally, please urge your friends and family to help the bears, too.

Dear Friends,

I had posted this news yesterday as soon as it was released. It has had no response and as we are running out of time to save this couple from stoning, ( we have less than 24 hours) I am asking you to please contact the Iranian Embassy nearest you to protest this action.

Their only crime was to be in love and have a child out of wedlock.

They have served 11 years in prison and their child has lived all those years without the natural parents.

As if this was not punishment enough, now they are going to be executed by public stoning.

You have recently heard of the death of Du'a, the 17 year old Kurdish girl who was stoned for falling in love a boy outside of her community.

This is the most brutal and horrific form of execution.

We appreciate every effort you can make to contact the Iranian Embassy and/or the Iranian Judiciary personally and to pass this on to all of your friends in your network and beyond.

The news about the scheduled stoning of a man and a woman in Takistan, Ghazvin, was spread through mobile phone messages and the Internet. The office of Showraye Tameen of Ghazvin province has issued the order to stone and man and a woman in public.

The judge of Branch 1 of the Criminal Court of Takistan will be present in person to throw the first stone. This was scheduled to be done on Sunday, June 17, but the Office of Showraye Tameen of Ghazvin province postponed it to Thursday, June 21.

Mokarrameh Ebrahimi is a 43 year old woman and mother of an 11 year old who has spent the past 11 years in Choubin prison in Ghazvin after being sentenced to stoning. The father of the child has also been in prison for 11 years and is scheduled to be stoned with her.

According to the Meydaan, the official site of the Stop Stoning Forever Campaign, an informed source has verified the news and added that "the pits are dug and prepared in Behesht Zahra cemetery to implement the sentence."

This source also added that the sentence has been issued solely based on the judge's knowledge, and there have been no witnesses to the so called crime of adultery and having a child out of wedlock. It seems that the couple have lived together for a while and shortly after been imprisoned. There are different rumors about the woman's past. Some say that her husband had thrown her out of the house and she had been living with her mother for two years. Both the man and the woman have children from their previous marriages. Mokarrameh, who is the mother of three children, is very distressed and in sever disarray in prison.

It seems that after the appeal to the Judicial Commission for Amnesty and Clemency had been rejected, it is going to be carried out as the result of the perseverance of one of the judiciary officials in Ghazvin.


The official announcement about the stoning is going to be posted at the site of execution in order to invite the public to participate in the process in Takistan. This is while the Iranian officials continue to deny any stoning sentence.

The Stop Stoning Forever Campaign activists plea to the citizens of the world to take any actions they possibly can in order to stop the stoning of this couple from taking place.

The stoning of Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her partner is scheduled to be carried out in public in the city of Takistan, Ghazvin, at 9:00 am on Thursday, June 21, for committing adultery and having a child out of wedlock. The decision for execution of stoning in public, and moreover, inviting the public to participate in the stoning have been made by the Ghazvin Municipal Security Council or Showraye Tameen of Ghazvin. The Stop Stoning Forever Campaign invites all citizens of the world to contact the Iranian officials by phone and/or fax and ask them to stop the public stoning of Mokarrameh Ebrahimin, the 43 year old mother of three children, and her partner, the father of her 11 year old child. Also, please note the time difference since the stoning is scheduled for Thursday, June 21, in the morning, Tehran time, which is Wednesday evening and midnight in the US and Europe. Please act now before it is too late!
