Protest Bush Administration's Misuse of Science
=============================

Target: US Senators and Representatives
Sponsor: Bush GreenWatch, BushGreenwatch.org
Signatures: 13,910
Goal: 10,000

What do 60 of the world's most influential scientists* have in common?
They all agree that the Bush administration has systematically distorted scientific fact to meet its political goals on issues ranging from military intelligence to health to the environment and more.
* Including 20 Nobel laureates, 19 recipients of the National Medal of Science and two former Republican presidential advisors.

According to these scientists, President Bush and his administration have:
deliberately stacked advisory panels with political appointees
censored and disregarded government scientists and reports when they conflict with the administration's political goals
disbanded scientific panels whose advice conflicted with Bush administration policies.

Even worse, a recent Pentagon report leaked to the British press predicts that abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water and energy supplies. Thus far, the President has skirted all global attempts to curb the phenomenon and until recently denied that global warming was real.

Help maintain public trust in sound science and its implementation in public policy. Urge your representatives to insist that congressional science committees investigate.

[Apparently, this petition is one of those where you are supposed to ignore the "due date". It is still on The Petition Site home page. And still being signed.]

Al Gore's presentation in the film, is so CLEAR and WELL DONE, that you should see it EVEN IF YOU THINK "I KNOW ALL THIS STUFF ALREADY!"
The way he puts it, there can be NO DOUBT ABOUT HIS FACTS AT ALL. And, Al Gore SHOWS CLEARLY how the Bush Administration has CENSORED THE SCIENTIFIC PAPERS PUT OUT BY ITS OWN SCIENTISTS regarding the FACTS of Global Warming.

THERE IS NO "DEBATE"! Out of nearly 1000 peer-reviewed SCIENTIFIC PAPERS on the subject, there was NOT ONE -- ZERO, ZILCH, NOTHING -- that DISPUTED that A] Global Warming was taking place, RAPIDLY; B] It was caused by HUMAN activity, EXCLUSIVELY; and C] According to charts and measurements from several hundred, and, in the Arctic, several thousands of years, THIS IS FAR, FAR FROM A "NATURAL CYCLE" or "natural fluctuation" or "natural variation". THIS IS AN OFF-THE-CHARTS UPWARD SPIKE IN WARMING IN THE LAST 15 YEARS!!!

And, there is NOT ONE SINGLE SCIENTIST WHO HAS STUDIED THIS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, who disputes this. Bush has found some COMPLETELY UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE, who are UNRECOGNIZED BY THEIR PEERS, and who work for the Oil Industry, to tell blatant LIES to confuse the public.

So, SIGN THE PETITION and WRITE LETTERS TO CONGRESS and BY ALL MEANS GO SEE THE MOVIE and TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO GO!
Even if you think you "know all that stuff"; Al Gore's presentation is SO GOOD AND SO CLEAR, you will LEARN from it how to make better your OWN presentation and arguments, about Global Warming and the EXTREME DANGER IT POSES TO CIVILIZATION ITSELF!!!

The movie ends, with some things YOU can do to change that Upward Spike! As I left the packed movie theater, EVERYONE around me was excitedly discussing the film! IT REALLY HAS THAT KIND OF AN IMPACT!
