How Green is Your Heart?
For many of us, February like birthdays and certain spiritual celebrations, is the month when we think with gratitude and open-heartedness about the relationships that sustain us in life and love. The heart is the spiritual hub of the body and did you also know that the colour associated with the heart chakra is Green?
Located near the center of the breastbone, this chakra (spiritual energy centre) represents higher consciousness and love. The Heart chakra is associated with the heart, thymus gland, lower lung and circulatory system. The heart chakra acts as the balance point for all the chakras, it governs our relationships and how we interact with other people.
A balanced heart chakra is expressed in acceptance of self and others, personal values and ethics, allowing us to follow our unique direction in life. When the heart chakra is healthy and balanced, you will be able to enjoy healthy, loving relationships.
Green also symbolizes harmony, creativity, health, abundance and nature. For healing, green is used to balance the vibrations of the nervous system as it offers new energy and revitalizes tired nerves.
We all know how important it is to eat a healthy diet, but many of us aren’t aware of how enjoyable healthy eating really can be and what a big difference it can make to the health of our hearts.
Consuming more raw green vegetables, will increase your intake of vitamins, minerals and fibre; and one of the ways to get your daily dose of nutrients is by juicing greens, it’s also a really delicious way to keep your body chemistry alkaline (a positive ph balance). You can also make sure you get your fibre intake by making green salads and smoothies using chopped up green vegetables and fruit. Spinach, avocado and dandelion can be included and are all nutritionally beneficial for your heart.
For a healthy heart make sure to get a balanced intake of calcium and magnesium, as these minerals help with the proper functioning of cardiac muscle.
Dietary adjustments for health are a positive step, however these alone are not enough to create the balance we require to achieve vital health. Other lifestyle changes may also be important, such as including some kind of body movement (exercise), nutritional supplementation, stress management and relaxation (in a green room!). These steps will help to generate a calm atmosphere and attitude, healthy diet and a strong body, all will create harmony by opening your spiritual heart and nourishing your physical heart in unison.
