It's a fact: Life at SeaWorld is hell for whales, dolphins, and other marine animals who are kept imprisoned there year after year.

But here's another fact:

Here are two quick things that you can do right now for whales:

1. Thanks to the film Blackfish, eight musicians so far—including Willie Nelson and Barenaked Ladies—have backed out of performances at SeaWorld's upcoming concert series. There are only two acts left from the original lineup: country artists Justin Moore and Scotty McCreery.

My comments:

If Justin Moore and Scott McCreery haven't seen the documentary 'Blackfish', and you care how all mammals including marine mammals are being treated by those whose only interest seems to be all about the money, you would be doing a grave injustice by performing at Sea World and therefore showing support.  I would like to think that you are not all about the money.  Anyone with a modicum of compassion and intelligence would know after watching 'Blackfish', the terrible, terrible travesty and horrifically ignorant actions displayed by the human species.  Rehabilitation and release yes, nothing short of cruel imprisonment NO!  Do watch this documentary and see how good you would feel about yourself having your name associated with such atrocities.  I have lost total respect for Jack Hannah who is in the documentary.  He does wildlife no favors.  My 13 year old granddaughter was distraught after watching such a soulless expression by man.

Ask Scotty and Justin to have a ♥ and cancel
their upcoming SeaWorld performances!

2. In a last-ditch effort to increase attendance, SeaWorld has partnered with Groupon to offer reduced ticket prices to the cruel abusement park.

I added my comment to the form letter sent to Groupon.

Urge Groupon to cancel its ticket "deal"
with SeaWorld immediately!

Thanks for speaking up for animals at SeaWorld!

Sincerely,

Lyn White is a highly respected ex-police officer who devotes all of her time trying to end illegal and horrifically cruel live export of animals in addition to other international work on animal abuse.  You may not be able to make a donation but I think it's extremely important to be aware of what's going on around the world as it relates to the horribly cruel treatment of animals and specifically her involvement.  Watch her speak on this video:

Animals Australia - live export investigation
A few weeks ago, on the other side of the world, one of Australia's biggest live exporters saw an opportunity to make an extra profit. It would require them to breach the terms of their export license — again. Thousands of Australian animals would be illegally sold; legs tied; stuffed into car boots and brutally 'sacrificed' in the streets of Jordan.

It might have been a 'flawless' plan — except that I was there to witness it.

Now, instead of enjoying watching their bank balance rise,
'Livestock Shipping Services' has been exposed in a damning national TV exposé. Our Government has commenced a formal investigation, and everyone from animal welfare groups, to the live exporters' council and Prime Minister Tony Abbott are calling for action to be taken against rule breakers.

As more live export ships prepare for departure, more animals are being placed into the 'care' of exporters like LSS. Some think they can break the rules and abandon animals to unspeakable cruelty — without repercussions. If it weren't for our investigators, they probably could.

I truly believe that one day we are going to look back at this time in history with horror - EXACTLY as we do with the sadistic Hitler. You have to be living in a cave by now if you don't know that experimenting on animals at it's very core is bad science.  Each species, is unique unto themselves and what applies to one does not apply to the other - and so we're supposed to be confident taking drugs and supplements with this kind of scientific evidence - not on my life.

But what you are doing is nothing less than sadistic, unnecessary horrific cruelty that puts you in the same league with psychopaths, all over candy that we know contains food dyes detrimental to children and the bottom line is it's just plain junk.

I would really like to know what sane rationale you can offer for what you are doing.  I'm sure somewhere it's the usual 'all about the money'.  You can also be sure with Halloween coming up your candy will not be given out to innocent children in my home and likely others.

Shame on you.  I really don't know how you sleep at night, but maybe as psychopaths you just stay awake thinking up more horrendous ways of inflicting the most horrible cruelty on animals.  Even a mouse has value, certainly much more so than you!

Hersey's doesn't conduct useless experiments on animals so why do you?

Hello everyone.  I wanted to let you know that for those interested, that there are two specials coming up this week on wild animals in captivity - including marine mammals.  I'd suggest checking the programming and times in your area. I'm always cautious about the times. Reference info in red below. (probably available in North America only - but other info should be of interest).

I saw on the news the other night that they are finally sending the three elephants from the Toronto Zoo (Ontario) to the PAWS Sanctuary in California.  Bob Barker was supposed to be involved but there was no mentioned of that.

Also, I saw a TV report where a woman in Florida is taking dogs (homeless) and partnering them with soldiers who have returned and are have an extremely difficult time with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  I can't imagine any soldier returning that doesn't have PTSD.  Anyway, the results are beyond positive and have made a huge difference in these men's lives.

And finally, I also saw another report where they went undercover on two 'battery hen' facilities in Alberta (Canada) and it was just horrendous.  Apparently there's going to be an investigation.  Please people, buy free range eggs and chickens.

Next, we just have to eliminate gestation crates NOW.  Forget this bullshit on phasing out.

Signing petitions is helpful no matter how many times they come around on the same issue.  I've learned it's like building a house, a long and persistent enterprise - you just have to not give up and keep on hammering.

Animal 'by products' are used extensively for many reasons, with the rationale that they are simply by products.  Whether they are harmful or beneficial for medicinal use has not been adequately addressed.  However, the real issue is the lack of regard for living creatures and the environment and the terrible cruelty and inhumane treatment inflicted on them.  The bottom line is that this is torture and terrible suffering to innocent creatures is never a rationale for ANYTHING let alone the very inferior, sadistic human species.

My job is to bring the darkest cruelties against animals out into the light for all to see.

When I found one sow one day last April, she was lying on the ground -- her legs were swollen and covered in deep gashes. She had sores all over her body.  I tried to give her food but she wouldn't eat it. When I touched her legs she recoiled in pain. The people responsible for her care did not even leave her water. But, I caught a few drops of water from a nearby hose and brought my hand to her mouth. All of a sudden, she lifted her head and lapped up the water. With all the strength she had left, she inched her way toward water -- for what might have been her last drink.
It pains me to think about how she came to be in this condition. She was just a number to the people running this facility, a unit that wasn't producing.  There were many -- too many -- other horrors at this facility. Workers punching pregnant mother pigs, drop-kicking piglets like soccer balls and smashing them into concrete floors.

See this sow's story:  http://action.humanesociety.org/site/R?i=7mzHolP8TTFIxa3IskNkNQ

Watch this mother pig's story and help animals like her:
Watch another story of one mother pig at a factory farm in Wyoming.

My job is to document these abuses for one reason: to expose them. And it's working. As a result of this investigation, seven workers at this factory farm pleaded guilty or were convicted of animal cruelty. And, we've worked with more than 60 major companies -- including McDonald's, Burger King, Costco, and Target -- to announce that they will stop using small, metal cages in which breeding sows are confined for almost their entire lives. This is tremendous progress, but there's still so much work to be done.

Together we will confront cruelty wherever it exists, taking on the individuals and industries that profit from animal suffering -- from people who mistreat dogs in puppy mills, to those who club baby seals to death in the name of fashion, to corporations that abuse animals in factory farms. Thank you for everything you do for animals.

Sincerely,

Undercover Investigator
The Humane Society of the United States
