here is some info from messages I just sent to Bill & Agnes that gives some of the BEST websites
to keep up the struggle for FREEDOM & FREE Speech on the internet
b4 the BIG Media & their FCC & Political sellout pal$ steal & block the activist & progressive sites from us,,,,,,,,
not to mention how closely the issue is re: $hrubCo's
illegal wiretapping & other abuse$ of power in government that worm$ it's way around & under American safetyguards such as REAL oversight,
as we trade our free Speech for "SO-CALLED Security"....
that only gives more power to politician$ and helps their campaign $peeches while doing little OR nothing for real security & Freedom.
The following are some of the best places to start or join in learning & stopping the ways
Big Media & their pal$ rig the rules to block & deflect common decent citizens from using the web for progressive defense of freedom & political truth:
This REALLY worries me;;;
it erodes the promise of the internet as the most powerful free speech tool in history
with it's ability to allow REAL, common folks of ALL lands to cross political boundaries & go beyond the old, national hate-alliances so as to tell the truth of the people--
especially in situations where countries are known to crush free speech.
One of the big issues I'm staying abreast of is the NET Neutrality issue that keeps BIG Media & Internet provider companies from "oh-so-sly manipulation of the web," such as blocking progressive sites or making them so slow to connect
that we activists cannot connect to dialogue or do politically important work for free speech, ECOLOGY, HUMAN rights AND speaking truth to power.
I highly recommend these groups, --- please check them out & send them to all your activist pals :
1) The EFF @http://www.eff.org/ ...they are the Electronic Frontier Foundation: a group of FREE Speech and internet rights activists yet are also TOP level Silicon Valley experts and lawyers who frequently get on PBS & such---
often making headlines as they fight the court$, politicians & the FCC on rules that weaken the internet for common folk by allowing ISP's & Big Media to rig trick-legislation that does nasty things like block hot topics in progressive politics by shutting down access to the best blogs & activist sites ; the EFF also fights for individuals who are screwed by big Media's grip on the government & FCC...
checkout their site & read their take on the battle for Net Equality (NET Neutrality) & other progressive, free speech issues.
2) GLOBAL Internet Liberty Campaign:http://www.gilc.org/ ...these folks have an EXCELLENT "mission statement" for freedom: "The Global Internet Liberty Campaign advocates:
Prohibiting prior censorship of on-linecommunication.
Requiring that laws restricting the content of on-line speech distinguish between the liability of content providers and the liability of data carriers.
Insisting that on-line free expression not be restricted by indirect means such as excessively restrictive governmental or private controls over computer hardware or software, telecommunications infrastructure, or other essential components of the Internet.
Including citizens in the Global Information Infrastructure (GII) development process from countries that are currently unstable economically, have insufficient infrastructure, or lack sophisticated technology.
Prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Ensuring that personal information generated on the GII for one purpose is not used for an unrelated purpose or disclosed without the person's informed consent and enabling individuals to review personal information on the Internet and to correct inaccurate information.
Allowing on-line users to encrypt their communications and information without restriction."
3)Tor :http://tor.eff.org/overview.html.en ..."Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet.
It also enables software developers to create new communication tools with built-in privacy features.
Tor provides the foundation for a range of applications that allow organizations and individuals to share information over public networks without compromising their privacy.
Individuals use Tor
to keep websites from tracking them & their family members,
or to connect to news sites, instant messaging services, or the like when these are blocked by their local Internet providers.
well yall, I guess the government's next idea will be to sell swastikas or something....
you will not believe this story/law below,
and I hope I'm not mailing it too late -------((it's a few weeks old))
to wake up folks about how far our freedoms & our nation has slid down the path of crazyness & foolishness & paranoia...
---if you don't have time to read this story, let me just show ya a few insane examples:
......people who could be detained indefinitely with no access > to a court include: > > - A foreign tourist wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt at the Statue of Liberty > > - A protester at an immigration rally who has lived in the U.S. since she was six months old and is a lawful, permanent resident"
......and we call ourselves the Home of the Brave.

I learn more about world politics, it's evident that Women/girls are not only victims of being shut out of economic/education corridors,
but as a force which stands against age-old unfair domination-corruption in 3rd world harsh environments--- like millions of women in slave-trafficking,
this could be the DEFINING element of 21st century power struggles if indeed we could do for developing nations what has been growing for almost a century here in America & Europe:
the empowerment of women.
It would TOTALLY undercut regimes in backwards nations
where the mean old bastards keep women down, keep them from voting for change,,,
& thus keep their brutality-games in force.
---This is not a flippant observation----- look into this yourself-----
or just imagine AFRICA & Asia if millions of it's women were NOT trafficked as slaves &
kept from free voting, etc.
CLIMATE change/GLOBAL Warming might SEEM the top issue of our time,
but I believe Women/girls EMPOWERMENT will go much farther to stemming the tide of age-old power-struggles in most of the world.
Just my opinion, but checkout the info in the email/.org below & perhaps you'll be lead to more sources that will start to point this out as well.
hey folks, I'm gettin the feeling very few activist thesedays understand that the internet,
as the worldwide bastion of free-Speech & dissent & all our favorite activist & web communities, is in the battle of it's life against rich corporate telcos.
WE lost the battle in Congress yesterday & now must hope for the Senate (whew).
If u don't get it yet, this is what Net Neutrality/Net Freedom is about:
" How does this threat to Internet freedom affect you?
Google users—Another search engine could pay dominant Internet providers like AT&T to guarantee the competing search engine opens faster than Google on your computer.
Innovators with the "next big idea"—Startups and entrepreneurs will be muscled out of the marketplace by big corporations that pay Internet providers for dominant placing on the Web. The little guy will be left in the "slow lane" with inferior Internet service, unable to compete.
Ipod listeners—A company like Comcast could slow access to iTunes, steering you to a higher-priced music service that it owned.
Political groups—Political organizing could be slowed by a handful of dominant Internet providers who ask advocacy groups to pay "protection money" for their websites and online features to work correctly.
Nonprofits—A charity's website could open at snail-speed, and online contributions could grind to a halt, if nonprofits can't pay dominant Internet providers for access to "the fast lane" of Internet service.
Online purchasers—Companies could pay Internet providers to guarantee their online sales process faster than competitors with lower prices—distorting your choice as a consumer.
Small businesses and tele-commuters—When Internet companies like AT&T favor their own services, you won't be able to choose more affordable providers for online video, teleconferencing, Internet phone calls, and software that connects your home computer to your office.
Parents and retirees—Your choices as a consumer could be controlled by your Internet provider, steering you to their preferred services for online banking, health care information, sending photos, planning vacations, etc.
Bloggers—Costs will skyrocket to post and share video and audio clips—silencing citizen journalists and putting more power in the hands of a few corporate-owned media outlets.
Blocking Innovation
The threat to an open internet isn't just speculation -- we've seen what happens when the Internet's gatekeepers get too much control. These companies, even, have said as much about their plans to discriminate online. According to the Washington Post..."

hey friends--- yep, just like you who LIKE using the internet----I've read the truth about the way it's quietly being stolen behind our backs so......here's the FUN way to FIGHT for Internet worldwide FREEDOM of info & free-speech...
---especially for places like China & other corrupt regimes who pay-off google & yahoo type greedy US tech companies to help them put journalists & citizens like us in horrid gulags --one well known journalist is in jail for 10 years in China righ NOW-- because their American "pals" ---which are our own sell-out tech companies ---helped them BLOCK news & info on government corruption & torture AND went so far as to use the Nazi tactic of handing over private web messages of journalists & ordinary citizens to these corrupt regimes who use it to bully their citizens from learning the truth of what they do behind closed doors ((example? in China, if u google "Tiananmen Square" you'll find that google has allowed Chinese authorities to block all info on that incident as well as similar "unpopular info" on the government's activities)) yeah...... strike a g33k blow for free information which is EVERYTHING that makes the internet whorthwhile & enjoyable : """""---------so pass this to EVERYONE-------------"""""" cause WE can use it to put a cool, 'net freedom video' on ALL our favorite sites such as : CARE2, myspace, YouTube, etc :
-----Or u can embed the video in ur sites by easily usingthe html codes here: http://coanews.org/netcodes ......................don't worry if u aren't an html video geek ---cause all you folks who don't know how to embed codes (html codes that allow video or music to play on myspace or Care2 or other pages)), well don't worry ---- there are tons of easy tutorials out there, just look around or ASK your cool geek friends who have these kinds of songs and videos playing on THEIR pages.
peace + VIGILANCE + FREE Speech--
(((((( before we loose it forever to the greedy & corrupt ISP's & politicians who will block us from sites that speak truth to power )))))
The Evolution WILL be televised--- only this time it's gonna be netivised, h3h ^_^ Rob =][=

The American Anti-Slavery Group (AASG) is a non-profit organization (501c3) that works to abolish modern-day slavery around the world, focusing primarily on systems of chattel slavery in Sudan and Mauritania.
"..three women have traveled throughout the U.S. speaking out against the forces that formerly exploited them as slaves.
Though they hail from different parts of the globe — Sudan, Sri Lanka, Haiti, respectively —
they have been brought together by AASG so that now, with one voice, they deliver the same message: that modern-day slavery is real and that we all share a responsibility to its victims."
Later this month Micheline Slattery will come one step nearer to closure when she returns to her Connecticut high school to share her story.
The trip stirs mixed emotions, as it recalls the years of abuse she endured while simultaneously a domestic slave and a student there.
She was trafficked to the U.S. as a teenager after enduring nine years of brutal beatings and relentless chores as a slave in Haiti.
Only recently as a young woman has Micheline begun speaking out and rebuilding her life, one day at a time.
"It's not something I will ever feel free and comfortable talking about, but I do it because I think it will make a difference,"
Micheline says. "I want people to understand that it's happening. If they need to see a face, see mine." Look for her later this week in the New York Times.
hey yall, Abortion Ban Act & new Supreme Court rightWRONGwing Justice Alito. whew: Law's very existence, THIS one gets serious....... ----PASS along & FORWARD on. Rob =][=
Abortion ... Justice Alito's Welcome :
Rule of Law itself --- challenged in Supreme Court ?
Yesterday, the Supreme Court took the occasion of Justice Samuel Alito Jr.'s first day on the nine-member bench
to announce that it would step in during the next term
to resolve the constitutionality of the 2003 federal ban on so-called partial-birth abortion.
With this move, the newly reconstituted court has set the stage for a legal showdown with potentially far-reaching implications — not just for women's health and reproductive freedom,
but for the rule of law itself.
At issue in the case is the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which President Bush signed in 2003. Since then,
six federal court decisions in three different jurisdictions have found it to be unconstitutional...."
