For years, the United Kingdom has had a law in place which allows organizations that perform cruel animal experiments to hide their abusive and inhumane tests from the public. Recently, the British government announced a review of this “secrecy clause,” giving people the opportunity to demand that animal “researchers” openly release their plans. This would give the public the opportunity to protest horrific animal experiments before they take place. We must urge the House of Parliament to repeal the “secrecy clause” and expose organizations that conduct animal testing.
According to a recent article in the Huffington Post UK, several top universities are currently conducting atrocious animal testing. The University of Manchester is subjecting helpless vision impaired mice to being shocked with electrodes in the same type of vision tests that are being done on humans “without these invasive techniques.” The University of Glasgow is conducting experiments on hamsters in which the animals are injected with bacterial spores so that “researchers” can watch “volcanic-like eruptions” that happen internally. When the tests have concluded the hamsters are killed.
If the “secrecy clause” is repealed, these researchers will have to reveal the details of their plans publicly before any testing takes place. The public then will have the opportunity to prevent unnecessary and inhumane animal experiments before they ever begin.
By signing the petition below, you will help urge the House of Parliament to repeal the “secrecy clause,” and expose organizations that plan to conduct inhumane animal testing.
