The current situation in England,Wales and Northern Ireland re wildlife crime is that ..what is considered a crime,varies from region to region and resources ,police interest and conviction rates of criminals also differ wildly across the UK .Crimes such as the poisoning of birds,the stealing of eggs,the abuse and killing of wild animals etc,can go unsolved..or if solved then the perpetrator in some cases may go unpunished.

Around 100 animal welfare and conservation groups in the UK,led by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSP,have called for a review of current practices and new legislation which ensure's greater resources for the police in tackling wildlife crime and greater consistency and national minimum standards,across all police forces in Wales,England and Northern Ireland.This means that there must be agreed national minimum standards,collating of wildlife crime statistics and transparency across all police forces.

It is my opinion that the politically right wing parties of the world, have hi-jacked the notion of patriotism.My beleif is that patriotism has served as a tool for the right,whose sectional interests dictate their loyalty above all other else.

Firstly here though I feel that it is important to define who the right wing are:

1)There is the nationalistic ,fascist or neo-fascist right..these cohere around issues of race ,or in the modern disguise "identity".Promoting a narrow set of characteristics that are acceptable for membership of a nation.This grouping are keen to promote imperialist interests, above international co-operation and promote large scale military spending and defense of historically conquered territories. The most openly fascistic nations were Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's Germany.

2)The Conservative/free market right wing.Although these share characteristics of the above,they are stronger beleivers in the concept of "privatisation" of all services for reasons of profit .The idea of vital industries (water,health,education etc) serving the community is much less important to the Friedmanite/free marketeer ,than the profit motive ..shareholder value,wealth creation etc are paramount.The supply siders also favour small welfare states (often partnered with large scale military spending).Social liberty for the few in reality,is promoted against a fair distribution of wealth or well funded social provision.This is designed to safeguard the position ,wealth and power of an elite.Democracy and real participation are sacrificed purposely, while real power is shifted to those who own the means of production,who exist above government,  shaping it's output.

What these have in common is a desire to preserve elitism,at the cost of the many..and despite it's rhetoric to the contrary at times,successful fascists and ultra -nationalists must always have the support of big business,and in power work to suppress those who would challenge corporate power ie unions,socialists etc.

 To my mind,exclusivity of class ,race ,power and wealth is not patriotic,as it denies rights and powers to the many..to the representatives of labour ..and moreso in the case of the openly fascist..to workers,gays,ethnic minorities,radicals,women ,those deemed abnormal,weak or infirm..

Margaret Thatcher called the striking UK miners in the mid 1980s.."the enemy within".She dismissed them therefore as anti-British..to agitate for a better standard of living..or to save jobs was deemed unpatriotic therefore.Thatcher's narrow patriotism was a racist one..pro-white  making it clear that Britain was a friend of apartheid South Africa ..and she talked of invasions of Britain by "foreign cultures" ie immigrants whilst campaigned against tolerance and understanding of gay British people.Her "patriotism" was expressed by a war against Argentina over Malvinos/Falkland Islands dispute..and yet by withdrawing British troops prior to the Argentine invasion,Thatcher had invited such an invasion.This withdrawal was made because her government were looking to make "cuts" any which way they possibly could..in a Freidmanite monaterist experiment which was an attack on all working people of the UK.Yet Thatch got away with it..British troops retook the Falklands/Malvinos..and Thatcher wrapped herself up in the flag..and many of the masses bought it.Her party was re-elected with an overwhelming majority,on the basis of the war her own cuts had started..she had put tax cuts to the rich,above national interest..yet she looked like a patriot in the eyes of the ignorant.

Displaying the flag,attacking the left,a dose of racism,ultra elitism,suppression of the masses,fear of difference and a bit of military might,appears to be the recipe for right wing patriotism.

The left should celebrate it's patriotism..though in a world of equal nations and in a non-chauvanistic way.We should shout louder about our values and how these can , have and will make our nations better.Many of us have an inclusive ,multi-racial,egalitarian,non militarist patriotism,that places the entire mass of people central.Our greater leaning towards environmentalism is also a patriotic quality ie

" to preserve and expand the natural beauty of a nation is surely more patriotic,than for example Sarah Palin/Dick Cheney's vision of natural beauty massacred and bespoilt by corporate mining interests".

To the more avowedly free market right wing,environmental laws are a mere inconvenience ,which stand in the way of profit for the few.. own.To ruin such beauty though is surely anti-patriotic one would have thought !?

In conclusion ,to my mind the quintessence of anti-patriotism is a Thatcher or a Cheney..whose alliance is with a tiny clique of oligarchs,who have a racial bias,a homophobic impulse..and don't give a crap for the poor granny who has beneffitted her community, all of her hard working life,yet now doesn't have enough money to keep her heating on throughout a harsh winter. 

I'll just close off with a few lines from English singer Billy Bragg..a staunchly left wing thinker,who wrote the book "Progressive Patriot"in his own attempt to define and stand up for left wing patriotism.In these lyrics he takes aim at the knee jerk right wing nationalist,who defines himself/herself as a patriot and yet whose prescence and ideology, offer nothing to wider or immediate society.

Although the group was initially extremely active,it has become inactive in the last few months.This is a great shame,as there is so much challenging and campaigning to do-as much as ever.

To people who beleive in an unregulated internet,I would ask:

  "do you really beleive that it is okey,to have material online,which promotes death and injury to animals? or involves the abuse of children?I doubt that you do..the overwhelming majority of people accept some restriction on internet material,even most of those,who see themselves as libertarians"

Please get involved,put in an application for membership-its a very short one-and bring your opinions,and desire to protect the vulnerable to the group.

 "I'm sick and tired of hearing about ,all of the greed mongers,and the tax dodgers and the  homophobes,coming out of the closet,its time for lefties to come out of the closet,and change the world..we must do it".                                                                                                                              If only,evangelical preachers, sounded like that ..id love them,and yet they sound like anything "but"that . Thats why I loathe right wing Christianity.

Yet why should it?,im not a Christian,in any sense that any church would recognise,and I beleive that the bible is a manmade book, which has been politically editted,making to supress the radlcalism of the very original church led by Jesus ,his brother James and leading member Mary.

When I say im not a Christian though,I might not be completely accurate.Jesus Christ the pro-feminist,quasi-socialist and political educater and agitator,is my kind of person-I just dont beleive that he was the son of God. So maybe,I get irritated at Falwell,Hagee,Swaggert et al,because I like Jesus.Also its because I just cant stand the extreme rights encouragement of all every bullying,nasty,intolerant,unempathic and chauvanistic trait.So I get angry when you get this bunch of crooked preachers and greedy politicians,changing the details of Christianity,and selecting tracts out of  context, of the (already sanitised by Rome) bible, to suit a very narrow agenda.

Its also because the evangelicals were an enormous factor in Bush's victory in 2004 (he lost in 2000,but the Evangelicals still boosted his vote significantly in that one too). Tolerance,equality,fairness,anti-materialism and respect for the earth,are jettisoned and replaced with homophobia, anti-abortion and a "God helps those who help themselves"attitude.

Tax breaks,low wages and anti-union legislation are Republican sacred cows,while measures designed to help the rich few are party dogma.These are the policies which the mega churches have aligned themselves to.Haggard,Haggerty,Hagee,Hoggarty,Humpty and the other loons,couldnt give a crap for the struggling poor,and are so blind,they couldnt see, that healthcare costs have multiplied 3 to 4 fold,since 2000,or that thousands die each year for want of treatment,while Kaiser Permanante shareholders,bask in greed and avarice.

Neither does torture in Guantanimo, or Abh Gharib seem to cause them, to question the whole Bush ,Cheney neo con cruelty project..what happened to spreading the message of , turning the other cheek guys?Don't remember that one huh?Were you all too busy, thinking about gays ,burning in lakes of fire ,or maybe just thinking about all of those gay ,sinful,bronzed young male bodies  eh Rev Hagee ! know what I mean.

Leaving aside the hippocricy ,of the apparently now "cured"Rev Hagee,could one of these preachers,lead me righteously to the bit in the bible,where Jesus tells the gays to "repent or die,ye perverts".?Its got to be in there,I just haven't found it yet. 

The fact that Jesus was never recorded ,as mentioning same sex relations,doesn't seem to have been noticed by HHHHHHHHHHHH &H.You'd have thought that he talked about nothing else,by the time allocated to dissing gays by these preachers.

There were also sites where women offered to crush whatever the viewer wanted,in exchange for credit card payment.

The main access site which took me to these sites was called Femdom City.This contains links to mainly..99.9% adult fetish material,but has some links to crush sites.

I am not sure what the law is regarding the crushing of snails,fish etc in the States.A lot of sites seemed to be locatted in the States,but there were German,Brazilian and sites from across the world.

At least we could make things difficult for these scumbags.

I cannot find my material on reporting animal abuse in the states ,which I thought I had a copy of. I decided to post the material on here because there is a wealth of advice,and activism.

I would be grateful if someone could take this up and report these sites ,or let me know whether it violates US law (the sickest site I found seemed to be based in the states..there are sickos everywhere though,so there is no suggestion that America is worse than anywhere else)?.

We need to be coming together on this stuff,to stop it,and make life difficult for the bastards who cant control their sick tendencies.Any sexual activity that involves cruelty or involvement of animals or children,is beyond my own comprehension..

Animals are suffering every minute,every second to feed someones urges.I think those particular sites involving mammals ,will be more difficult to find..but not too difficult.I wonder how closely the police and animal welfare organisations monitor this stuff.?

I have spent the last few hours,following links here there and everywhere.

Part 1 of message.I was reminded of the sickness of animal crush fetishes by Lorraine Ks post earlier tonight.This led to a petition which condemned a video showing a woman crushing a kitten.I couldnt let this rest.

I decided that I would have to gather some information.Its been an unpleasant and disturbing investigation,and I don't want to do this ever again.

What I found was the following sites/ CrushFetish.net http://www.crushfetish.net/preview_all3.html this was a site showing women in big shoes crushing bugs,snails,crabs and fish .I found a server site links2trample which listed the top crush sites .Now many of the sites listed are just adult orientated fetish material.I have no problem with consenting adults doing what they want (pornography is a whole wider issue of course).  But amidst the adult stuff are sites dealing with the crushing of bugs,snails ,goldfish ,crawfish etc.Some links I clicked on couldn't /wouldnt direct me  to the actual site ie http://lethalcrushfetish.net/  I wonder if there is something to hide here..it was advertised as dealing with fetishes related to bugs and other animals.

Dear all,

I received an e-mail from New York City council,after sending an e-mail via Care 2,supporting a ban on Foie Gras in New York.I was asked to enter details on the New York City Council website,www.council.nyc.gov  .

As I have a UK postcode it wasn't possible to leave a message.It may not have been noted anyway as the site ,refers to constituent issues..i e New York residents,I assume.

For any New Yorkers,just click on the section which says "email the speaker" and send your views.The website then records your position in the council stat system,which is used to track constituent issues.You will probably know this better than I do anyway.

 So im alerting my US friends,to pass this onto any New York based animal welfare supporters,and asking them to consider visitting the website,and leaving a message supporting legislation to ban the cruelly manufactured fois gras (a foodstuff made by forcefeeding ducks and geese until the poor animal's liver gives way basically).
