Let's hear it for Costco! (This is just mind-boggling!)

Make sure you read all the way past the list of the drugs. The woman that signed below is a Budget Analyst out of federal Washington , DC offices..

Did you ever wonder how much it costs a drug company for the active ingredient in prescription medications? Some people think it must cost a lot, since many drugs sell for more than $2.00 per tablet. We did a search of offshore chemical synthesizers that supply the active ingredients found in drugs approved by the FDA. As we have revealed in past issues of Life Extension a significant percentage of drugs sold in the United States contain active ingredients made in other countries. In our independent investigation of how much profit drug companies really make, we obtained the actual price of active ingredients used in some of the most popular drugs sold in America .

Since the cost of prescription drugs is so outrageous, I thought everyone should know about this.
It pays to shop around! This helps to solve the mystery as to why they can afford to put a Walgreen's on every corner. On Monday night, Steve Wilson, an investigative reporter for Channel 7 News in Detroit , did a story on generic drug pricesgouging by pharmacies. He found in his investigation that some of these generic drugs were marked up as much as 3,000% or more. So often we blame the drug companies for the high cost of drugs, and usually rightfully so. But in this case, the fault clearly lies
with the pharmacies themselves. For example if you had to buy a prescription drug, and bought the name brand, you might pay $100 for 100 pills.
The pharmacist might tell you that if you get the generic equivalent, they would only cost $80, making you think you are saving $20. What the pharmacist is not telling you is that those 100 generic pills may have only cost him $10!

At the end of the report, one of the anchors asked Mr. Wilson whether or not there were any pharmacies that did not adhere to this practice, and he said that Costco consistently charged little over their cost for the generic drugs.

I went to the Costco site, where you can look up any drug, and get its online price. It says that the in-store prices are consistent with the online prices. I was appalled. Just to give you one example from my own experience I had to use the drug Compazine which helps prevent nausea in chemo patients.

I used the generic equivalent, which cost $54.99 for 60 pills at CVS. I checked the price at Costco, and I could have bought 100 pills for $19.89. For 145 of my pain pills, I paid $72.57. I could have got 150 at Costco for $28.08.

I would like to mention, that although Costco is a 'membership' type store, you do NOT have to be a member to buy prescriptions there as it is a federally regulated substance. You just tell them at the door that you wish to use the pharmacy, and they will let you in.

I am asking each of you to please help me by copying this letter, and passing it into your own e-mail, and send it to everyone you know with an e-mail address.

Healthcare-NOW!

Dear Healthcare-NOW! Supporter:

Dozens of people held a sit-in at Senator Lieberman's Capitol Hill office this morning to demand that Senator Lieberman pledge to stop taking health insurance company campaign contributions and free up funds so they can be used to pay for patient care. For 30 minutes, demonstrators requested to talk to Senator Lieberman and chanted "Patients not Profits, Medicare for All." Nine members of the Mobilization for Health Care for All sat down in the office lobby until forcibly removed by the police.

Since 1989, only 10 other current senators have brought in more cash from the health sector than Lieberman, who has collected $2.6 million in that time.

Take Action NOW!

1. Sign the petition urging Lieberman to stop taking insurance money. Click here to sign the petition now. Urge everyone you know to sign the petition.

2. Make a donation to support the Mobilization. Donate for bail money for those sitting in Lieberman's office.

3. Call your representative to support the Medicare for All amendment that is being put forward by Congressman Weiner.

Since beginning just over one month ago thousands have signed up to participate in "Patients before Profits" sit-ins and over 920 have signed up willing to risk arrest. By the end of this week the Mobilization will have held 32 sit-ins in 28 different cities with more than 150 arrests and over 220 risking arrest. We started out wanting 100 people to risk arrest at "patients before profits" sit-ins and now more than 920 have done so. The Mobilization needs to continue to grow in order to make the impact the people desperately need - Medicare for All.

Thank you for your support. Please take action now.

Thanks for all that you do,
Healthcare-NOW! National Staff

In a matter of hours, the House of Representatives will vote on the issue of abortion in the new health system.

Congress is set to vote on abortion in the new health system TODAY.

We can’t let the anti-choice movement win, because women could lose access to abortion care.

Contact your member of Congress right now to help us stop this attack.
.

Women’s coverage for abortion services rests in the hands of Congress – and that vote is going down to the wire.

Contact your member of Congress immediately to help us defeat this attack -

This amendment would have devastating consequences for women.

Right now, more than 85 percent of private-insurance plans cover abortion services. That’s the status quo.

The proposal we’re fighting, led by Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan and Republican Rep. Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania, would make it virtually impossible for private insurance companies that participate in the new system to offer abortion coverage to women.

As a result, women who currently have a private plan that covers abortion care could lose that coverage.

We can’t let women lose access to abortion care. Contact your rep today.  https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

Rep. Stupak’s proposal is dangerous and based on outright lies.

Here are the facts: The health-care-reform bill maintains the system we have now. It would allow insurance companies to decide what services to cover, and it blocks federal money from paying for abortion. Yet, Rep. Stupak is jeopardizing the entire health-care reform effort by making it virtually impossible for health plans to offer abortion coverage in the new system.

Now we need you. Ask your member of Congress to oppose Rep. Stupak’s anti-choice amendment

The vote will be extremely close. One vote could make the difference.

Thank you for speaking up for women’s access to abortion today.

Nancy Keenan

My note; this bill passed with the Amendment intact. A few votes were gained by doing so. I think the strategy is to get the Senate version to pass without it, and then reconcile the two versions by eliminating this amendment on the House side...

Even if it passes both sides with this kind of anti abortion amendment, I think the public pressure from women who lose something they fought for many years to get, will force legislators to change it even after it becomes law.. So in the end, all works for the good, in God.

"I have been following the evolving &ldquoandemic” of H1N1 influenza beginning with the original discovery of the infection in Mexico in March of this year. In the course of this study I have tried to utilize as my sources high-quality, peer-reviewed journals, data from the CDC and accepted textbooks of virology.

As with all such studies one has to integrate and correlate previous experiences with epidemics and pandemics. As you will see, a great deal of my material comes from official sources, such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the New England Journal of Medicine. Thus my distracters cannot claim that I am using material that is not within the mainstream."...................

"A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that of the 36 children who died from H1N1 from April to August, six had no chronic health conditions. But all of them had a co-occurring bacterial infection.".....

My comment;
Contrary to what the mass hysteria news organizations are saying, here is the truth... do you want to know?
Dr. Mercola reports that very few or none of the people who died expired from swine flu...They died from secondary infections MSRA, super bacteria such as Staph... No one is reporting what these people really died from.. Why not? Why is not one health organization digging into the truth? Why is there constant emphasis on H1NI as the boogey man, the thing that is causing all of these deaths, when it is NOT TRUE?
So where do these super bad bacteria that caused these deaths and can kill in a matter of one or two days come from? Hospitals....
And why are there super bad bacteria in the first place? Because doctors and factory farms are OVERUSING antibiotic medicines, which then kills all normal bacteria, but promotes the super bacteria, which resist antibiotics.
So the medical industry at this point seems to me anyway, to be covering up the true cause of deaths, as well as the harmlessness of the swine flu, all in an effort to stampede the sheeple into hospitals and clinics to get flu shots, which makes them rich.
Dr. Mercola also lays out the evidence that flu shots actually reduce the strength of the immune system, leaving one open to future disease attacks, such as the super bacteria Staph infections that kill in a day or two.
Bottom Line? All of this hype about epidemics, pandemics, swine flu, H1N1 and fear mongering ends up being very good for profits for Big Pharma, but BAD news for you and your family. As more deceptions and  are piled on top of other fears and deceptions, the news media and Big Pharma are working hard to separate you from your money.

U.S. Official Resigns in Protest of Afghanistan War Policy
World  (tags: conflictgovernmentpoliticswar )

"I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States' presence in Afghanistan,"
------------------------
My comment;
Why are we there? First we supported the poppy farmers, and poppy production boomed. Al Queda crushed this and poppy production went down 95% under their government.
Now we are moving in that direction as well... but the consequence is that we lost the farmers, and they now hate us, because they cannot make a living raising other crops, or so they say.
More people hate us and want us out in that country than ever before.. Why is that, when we are there supposedly to install democracy?
Why is it that under our watch, the most corrupt vote ever held was taken and then thrown out?... The scandal was uncovered mostly due to UN watchdogs and international observers.. not internal controls via a democratic process.
Corruption is so epidemic there that there is very little that is NOT corrupted.. The US private army of contractors is totally corrupt, all profits, bribes, slush funds, payoffs, stealing, coverups, cost overruns, ad nauseum..
The military wants to keep getting lots of money, so they have to justify a never ending war. If they cannot succeed in this, then why would we keep spending BORROWED money from Communist CHINA on a war that cannot be won, ever?
No country on Earth has ever conquered Afghanistan and held it.. Lots of countries have invaded it, but none could hold it for long.. We cannot win there either... just like Vietnam. The deck is stacked against us for MANY, MANY reasons..
