This story indicates how silly the current news is largely propoganda; particularly about the H1N1 swine flu. Ok, so 1,000 people died...Is that a reason to panic and have news about it, day after day, for months at a time?
56,000 a year die from seasonal flu and pneumonia, according to the CDC.
26,000 die each year just from prescription drugs each year.
Here are some CDC statistics from the CDC website;
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 45,344
Septicemia: 34,234
Creating hysteria is so easy to do if one has access to the news media. Fear sells, so the media eat it up, and the public consumes it. Fear feeds itself, and people start to panic, especially if there is a feeling of 'not enough', and H1n1 might come get me in the middle of the night...
So how come the news media ignores the million deaths each year from all of the above, while HYPERFOCUSING on just h1n1? Follow the money trail and see how it all fits...
Who profits from the current hysteria about something that does not even rise to the level of seasonal flu or septicemia?
"European scientists and health authorities are facing angry questions about why H1N1 flu has not caused death and destruction on the scale first feared, and they need to respond deftly to ensure public support.
Accusations are flying in British and French media that the pandemic has been "hyped" by medical researchers to further their own cause, boost research grants and line the pockets of drug companies.
Britain's Independent newspaper this week asked "Pandemic? What Pandemic?"
France's Le Parisien newspaper ran the headline: "Swine flu: why the French distrust the vaccine" and noted a gap between the predicted impact of H1N1 and the less dramatic reality.
"Although some 30-odd people have died....the disease is not really frightening," it said. "Dangerous liaisons between certain experts, the labs and the government, the obscurity of the contracts between the state and the pharma firms have added to the doubt."
"Dr. Anthony Morris, a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”
Last night was Lou Dobbs' last show on CNN. Dobbs' sudden departure is a powerful reminder of what we are capable of when we work together. For years, Dobbs used his prominent platform on CNN as a perch to spread hate, misinformation, and wild conspiracy theories. Thanks in no small part to your continued dedication and activism, starting today, Dobbs no longer has that platform.
In July, Dobbs followed up years of trafficking in fact-free, racially charged conspiracy theories by promoting "birther" paranoia about President Obama's birth certificate on CNN's airwaves. In response, thousands of you signed our petition and sent emails calling on CNN president Jon Klein to address CNN's Lou Dobbs problem. In August, after CNN tried to sweep the issue under the rug, your generosity helped us raise enough money to air an ad calling on the network to credibly address the issue. After CNN rejected the ad, it aired on MSNBC.
In September, in partnership with NDN, America's Voice, the National Council of La Raza, LULAC, and more than a dozen other prominent progressive, Hispanic, and civil rights groups, we launched DropDobbs.com, which placed new focus on Dobbs' ongoing hate speech and misinformation. After CNN still refused to address its Dobbs problem, you once again generously helped us raise enough money to air an ad made with our friends at America's Voice. Yet again, CNN refused to air the ad, but the message we sent was clear:The American people had had enough of Dobbs' hate speech, and we weren't going to drop the issue.
Today, thanks to your efforts and the work of our partners, Dobbs can no longer use CNN as a platform to pursue his dangerous, one-sided, and often conspiracy-tinged crusade against immigrants. This is a happy day for those who care about our nation of immigrants and believe in the power of media to elevate the political discourse.
Yet, while this is a great day for our efforts, our work to hold the media accountable is by no means over. Earlier this week we launched a petition calling on Rupert Murdoch to apologize for agreeing with Fox News demagogue Glenn Beck's outrageous claim that President Obama is "a racist." As usual, you responded to our call to action with fervor. Nearly 10,000 people have signed the petition in less than 48 hours. On Tuesday night, a News Corp. spokesman told the Politico that Murdoch "does not at all, for a minute, think the president is a racist." Clearly, this statement does not square with Murdoch's own words from the interview. If you haven't had a chance to sign the petition calling on Murdoch to apologize, please take a moment to do so now:
Thank you for your continued help in holding the media accountable. As today powerfully demonstrates, when we work together, we can create real, lasting change.
It was unbelievable the first time the credit card companies jacked up our interest rates, doubled minimum payments and tacked on huge fees to try and beat a new February law that will help end many of their abusive ways.
Now, they're at it again, and getting even more creative. But with your help, we can stop them cold!
Just days ago the House passed a bill to freeze interest rate hikes on your card balances, and give you new protections starting Dec. 1 – just in time for the holiday season. House members read your emails and listened to your complaints, and acted quickly. Now, we need the Senate to do the same – a vote could come any day!
This continued attack on your wallet is no accident. A major credit card reform law that you helped pass goes into effect in February. The card companies begged Congress to delay its implementation so that they could “update their systems” to comply with the new law.
But instead, they’ve spent the time hitting us with new tricks – like a fee for paying off card balances each month. Or variable rate cards that only “vary” if interest rates increase, but don’t give you the full break if they drop in your favor.
If the companies can retool their computers to accommodate these tricks, there’s no reason they can’t abide by the new rules right now. After last week's bipartisan House vote , we have real momentum. Now the Senate must hear that we can’t afford the card company tactics, especially with the holidays approaching.
After you email the Senate, please forward this to anyone you know who is fed up with these tactics. We have immense power when we band together – let’s put the pressure on now!
Sincerely, Gail Hillebrand DefendYourDollars.org A project of Consumers Union 1535 Mission Street San Francisco, CA 94103-2512
The House passed an anti-choice measure that would essentially eliminate insurance coverage for abortion in the new system. Health reform is important, but no one should lose coverage in the new system.
I just signed a petition to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to stand strong against a similar attack in the Senate. Will you add your name? The deadline is 12 noon (EST) on Friday, November 13.
The House passed an anti-choice measure that would essentially eliminate insurance coverage for abortion in the new system.
Help us fight back and stop the ban on women’s insurance coverage for abortion.
Anti-choice politics shouldn’t trump women’s health in Congress. It’s unacceptable.
Yet that’s what happened when the House passed the last-minute anti-choice Stupak-Pitts amendment to its health-reform bill.
We cannot let this attack stand in the Senate.
I can’t stress this strongly enough: we must win in the Senate to keep millions of women from losing their private insurance coverage for abortion in the new health-care system.
A vote to ban insurance coverage for abortion in the new system will come down to the wire, so we must call on Majority Leader Reid to stand strong against this attack from the outset.
Here is what will happen if the Senate adopts the same Stupak-Pitts amendment that passed in the House bill:
It will be virtually impossible for private insurance companies that participate in the new system to offer abortion coverage to women.
This would have the effect of denying women the right to use their own personal, private funds to purchase an insurance plan with abortion coverage in the new health system — a radical departure from the status quo. Presently, more than 85 percent of private insurance plans cover abortion services.
We must win in the Senate. That’s why we need to fight back today.
Let's hear it for Costco! (This is just mind-boggling!)
Make sure you read all the way past the list of the drugs. The woman that signed below is a Budget Analyst out of federal Washington , DC offices.. Did you ever wonder how much it costs a drug company for the active ingredient in prescription medications? Some people think it must cost a lot, since many drugs sell for more than $2.00 per tablet. We did a search of offshore chemical synthesizers that supply the active ingredients found in drugs approved by the FDA. As we have revealed in past issues of Life Extension a significant percentage of drugs sold in the United States contain active ingredients made in other countries. In our independent investigation of how much profit drug companies really make, we obtained the actual price of active ingredients used in some of the most popular drugs sold in America . It pays to shop around! This helps to solve the mystery as to why they can afford to put a Walgreen's on every corner. On Monday night, Steve Wilson, an investigative reporter for Channel 7 News in Detroit , did a story on generic drug pricesgouging by pharmacies. He found in his investigation that some of these generic drugs were marked up as much as 3,000% or more. So often we blame the drug companies for the high cost of drugs, and usually rightfully so. But in this case, the fault clearly lieswith the pharmacies themselves. For example if you had to buy a prescription drug, and bought the name brand, you might pay $100 for 100 pills. The pharmacist might tell you that if you get the generic equivalent, they would only cost $80, making you think you are saving $20. What the pharmacist is not telling you is that those 100 generic pills may have only cost him $10!
At the end of the report, one of the anchors asked Mr. Wilson whether or not there were any pharmacies that did not adhere to this practice, and he said that Costco consistently charged little over their cost for the generic drugs.
I went to the Costco site, where you can look up any drug, and get its online price. It says that the in-store prices are consistent with the online prices. I was appalled. Just to give you one example from my own experience I had to use the drug Compazine which helps prevent nausea in chemo patients. I used the generic equivalent, which cost $54.99 for 60 pills at CVS. I checked the price at Costco, and I could have bought 100 pills for $19.89. For 145 of my pain pills, I paid $72.57. I could have got 150 at Costco for $28.08.
I would like to mention, that although Costco is a 'membership' type store, you do NOT have to be a member to buy prescriptions there as it is a federally regulated substance. You just tell them at the door that you wish to use the pharmacy, and they will let you in.

Dozens of people held a sit-in at Senator Lieberman's Capitol Hill office this morning to demand that Senator Lieberman pledge to stop taking health insurance company campaign contributions and free up funds so they can be used to pay for patient care. For 30 minutes, demonstrators requested to talk to Senator Lieberman and chanted "Patients not Profits, Medicare for All." Nine members of the Mobilization for Health Care for All sat down in the office lobby until forcibly removed by the police.
Since 1989, only 10 other current senators have brought in more cash from the health sector than Lieberman, who has collected $2.6 million in that time.
Take Action NOW!
1. Sign the petition urging Lieberman to stop taking insurance money. Click here to sign the petition now. Urge everyone you know to sign the petition.
2. Make a donation to support the Mobilization. Donate for bail money for those sitting in Lieberman's office.
3. Call your representative to support the Medicare for All amendment that is being put forward by Congressman Weiner.
Since beginning just over one month ago thousands have signed up to participate in "Patients before Profits" sit-ins and over 920 have signed up willing to risk arrest. By the end of this week the Mobilization will have held 32 sit-ins in 28 different cities with more than 150 arrests and over 220 risking arrest. We started out wanting 100 people to risk arrest at "patients before profits" sit-ins and now more than 920 have done so. The Mobilization needs to continue to grow in order to make the impact the people desperately need - Medicare for All.
Thank you for your support. Please take action now.
