Where Heart Shift Happens. Teaching the Science of Sustainable Health. What works for 7 future generations? "Do not go where the freeway may lead - Go instead where there is no path and build - A Green Road"
Catherine Austin Fitts (former Assistant Secretary Of Housing under President Bush) has produced a four part video entitled; "The Looting Of America". Watch this first video at least.. Watch all four if you can. She will help you figure out in a larger macro view, who to trust. Hint; it is not the people in Washington, the financial companies like AIG, or your stock/bond broker.
WHAT IS HER MESSAGE?
Bottom line; her message is that we as a nation are moving our money to Wall Street and Washington politics, where bad things happen with that money. Wall Street and Washington is a tape worm, in her words. You as an individual and communities only earn 1-4% on the hard earned money that is sent out, if that much.
Big banks and related private institutions take our money; invest it in overseas factories, while exporting US jobs at the same time. They make Trillions in profits, but do not pay taxes on this profit, at our expense.
At best, these financial companies loan your back to you and local communities at very high interest rates, via credit cards, etc, that may charge 18-23%. These huge international institutions earn over 2,000 basis points in many cases, or more if we are talking about cash advances. Why are people doing this?
Sending money out of the local community is what she calls 'feeding the tapeworm'. Every day, the tapeworm grows stronger. (Enron, AIG, Federal Reserve, Goldman Sachs, Patent Drug Companies, Insurance Companies, Diamond Companies, Professional Sports, Oil Companies, Coal Companies, Nuclear Power, Major Media Companies, and other monopolies that are shipping jobs and money out of the US to 'cheap' labor countries). These companies are the tapeworm, feeding off of you and me, making us weaker and weaker.
The common denominator with huge corporations is that they take all the profit, and transfer all the risk to you and me, the taxpayer. We pay for their messes, such as nuclear accidents, chemical spills, toxic waste sites, pollution caused by huge corporations in the course of their operations, and deaths caused by such things as vaccines, drugs, mistakes.
Corporations gamble and take high risks with public money, and get public Treasury bailouts when they fail to roll snake eyes. Huge corporations take corporate subsidy welfare payments, and at the same time, resist any calls for increasing taxes on them, despite their making record profits while millions of people are out of work and the US economy is in a tailspin.
The end result of feeding these tapeworms is bad health and a failing nation, plus a corrupted democracy. These tapeworms are bad news both for individuals and local communities.
The major media feeds these money eating tapeworms as well, because huge corporations own and control what is shown on the corporate owned mass media... The more the tapeworm is fed, the more we, the people, and our communities, lose, no matter what party we belong to. Watch a corporate owned media channel for awhile... Ask yourself the question; ‘Is this show or ad good for corporations, or is it good for people and communities?
The answer will more than likely be that in 99% of what you see, what you get is programming, (propaganda?) that benefits corporations. You will NOT see anything that is not profitable or good for the large corporation point of view.
So what can we as average citizens do about this? There are a number of steps we can take. Eat locally, and buy food or goods as much as possible from sources other than huge corporations. Do your banking locally in a local community bank, or better yet, open an account in a cooperative owned credit union where you actually get a vote in things. Buy food at a local coop. Sign up for a CSA, which is a direct farm to you food connection. Why not create jobs and a better future for seven future generations locally by creating a more self sufficient local community, complete with local energy production, (green energy) local organic food production, local labor (via small businesses), local banking via credit unions, local health creation through natural health methods, etc?
Where you put your money makes a huge difference. Why not circulate YOUR money into your local community and do your part to starve the tapeworm?
Finally, invest in LOCAL real estate... The things people need to do are move money back into their local communities and invest in things that make sense for seven future generations. Do not invest in major corporations that move money overseas to countries like Communist China. The only thing we get here in the USA by doing that is a booming China, more debt for the USA, and less jobs in the USA. Communist China is booming and winning the financial war, while the US is now losing both jobs and money to that nation, with the help of huge corporations, who only care about profits, not about you and me.
Newsweek recently reported that the nation's biggest phone companies, "working closely with the White House, have mounted a secretive lobbying campaign to get Congress to quickly approve a measure wiping out all private lawsuits against them" for helping the Bush administration illegally wiretap innocent Americans.1
Yesterday, President Bush weighed in publicly, promising to veto an upcoming bill dealing with our nation's wiretapping policy if it doesn't give corporations retroactive immunity for their lawbreaking.2
Pending lawsuits could be the only way Americans ever find out how far Bush went in breaking the law—Bush's threat yesterday is an attempted cover-up.3
Some Democrats like Sen. Russ Feingold immediately said no to Bush.4 But House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said retroactive immunity "is not off the table."5
Can you call your Congressman today? Tell him to oppose retroactive immunity for phone companies' lawbreaking.
Yesterday, the American Civil Liberties Union summed up the situation well:
Why is the president of the United States trying to get the telecommunications companies off the hook for their illegal activity? He is supposed to be upholding laws, not encouraging companies to break them. Businesses that break the law should be held accountable. We expect these companies to keep our personal information private, and if they break the law, there should be consequences—not a re-write of the rule book.6
After September 11, the Bush Administration began working with phone companies to monitor the private phone calls and emails of millions of ordinary Americans without legally-required warrants. A former AT&T employee says the company even let the government set up shop right in their office—a charge AT&T has refused to confirm or deny.7
Since then, lawsuits have been filed against these companies for breaking the law—and these suits could allow facts to surface that the Bush administration has so far refused to give Congress. Retroactive immunity for phone company lawbreaking could prevent the truth from ever coming out.
That's why we need lots of members of Congress to oppose the idea of letting these phone companies off the hook for past lawbreaking. Can you call or email your Rep?
Thanks for all you do.

What if Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi refused to present a bill on the floor of Congress to fund the criminal U.S. occupation of Iraq?
The possibility of a Bush veto would not be an issue.
Although there are billions of dollars still in the pipeline, Bush and the Pentagon, faced with a new political reality, would be forced to begin making plans for withdrawal.
As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has full control over which pieces of legislation make it onto the floor of House to be voted on. The Democratic Party majority in Congress could just sit on any war spending bill and there would be no funds for the war
Funding for war in Iraq could be stopped at any number of steps in either the House or Senate.
According to the U.S. constitution spending bills have to originate in the House of Representatives. Congress has control over executive branch by having decisive control of funds for war.
Not only does the Speaker of the House control the legislation put on the floor for a vote, the Democrats, as the majority party, currently control the chair of all committees in both houses of congress. The Appropriations Committee could also just not bring the funding bill out of committee.
As the new majority Speaker of the House, one of Nancy Pelosi’s first acts was to declare that Impeachment proceedings against President Bush were ‘off the table’. This meant she would refuse to allow this burning issue to come to the floor of House. If instead as House Speaker, Pelosi were to declare that war funding is ‘off the table’, funding for war would not be possible.
When millions of people voted for Democratic Party politicians, who claimed to be anti-war last November, this is exactly the kinds of legislative actions they expected a Democratic, supposedly anti-war majority in Congress to take.
It is important to confront the direct fraud that the Democratic majority in Congress is putting forth in their complicity on voting to fund the war.
Even though they control the majority in both houses even since election they have given endless excuses about how they do not have the votes to do what they promised to do.
The Democrats claim that because they do not have a 2/3 majority they are powerless to over rule Bush's veto on the war funding. So they must pass a bill that Bush would approve. They could simply refuse to present a bill for ANY war funding.
They clearly have the Constitutional authority, the legislative power and political mandate.
But it will take a massive determined, angry and independent movement to force the conciliatory Democratic majority in Congress to put Impeachment on the table and take war funding off the table.
The Democrats with endless help from the corporate media have presented a hand wringing theatrical fraud about their lack of sufficient votes to take any action against the war.
Spending bills originates in House Appropriations Committee. Dave Obey (D Wisc). Obey could also simple refuse to move funding for the war out of committee. This is the fate of many hundreds of bills introduced into Congress each your. Most bills ‘die in committee’.
The Appropriations Committee has a Sub-committee on Defense chaired by John Murfa (D-PA), who says he wants to bring troops home He could do this by refusing to bring forward funding for the war.
At every stage Congress could act to stop funding the war.
After a funding bill is approved in the House of Representatives it moves to the Senate. Senator Robert Byrd, D-VA, head of the Senate Appropriations committee and so eloquently opposed to war could just refuse to move the bill thru the Senate Appropriations Committee. Harry Reid, Senate Majority leader could refuse to bring a bill to the Senate floor. Any of these measures would also ‘kill’ the multi-billion dollar war funding bill.
There would be no need to have a 60% majority to stop a Republican filibuster nor would the supposed anti-war Democrats need a 2/3 majority to overcome a presidential veto.
To further justify their collaboration on the war, members of Congress use their supposed concern for U.S. troops as a human shield. They are hiding behind soldiers and the threat that if they cut off funds U.S. soldiers would wake up tomorrow and not have food, water, even have funds to pull out.
This is also a fraud. The Pentagon does not live pay check to paycheck like working people do. The budget and supply process is decided months and years in advance. There is a long supply chain – planning and allocation are known many months in advance.
The Pentagon is using the funds for Iraq war to plan and prepare new wars against Iran. Half the U.S. navy has moved to within striking range of Iran. More than 10,000 sites have been targeted by Pentagon planners.
Congress and media know the determination of corporate America is to stay in Iraq for a generation or more.
As Congress again votes before the October 1 deadline to continue the war a political challenge is being prepared by the Troops Out Now Coalition. The greatest contribution of the Encampment scheduled to take place directly in front of Congress from Sept 22 to 29 is to show the kind of independent mass action that is needed to really end the war. Learning through bitter experience about the role of both capitalist parties is an essential part of the struggle to end the war.
If you cannot join us in Washington, you can still help. Please donate whatever you can to help others join the march. Every single dollar helps to make our voices stronger. Your donations can help pay for buses, flyers, picket signs, mailings and all of the necessary costs. Everyone can be a part of this effort.
