Make A Difference - Please Note Associated Care2 News Stories
NaturalNews Insider Alert ( www.NaturalNews.com )
Dear NaturalNews readers,
Remember all the attacks by UK journalists against Dr. Andrew Wakefield? Well, it turns out many of those attacks were led by criminal-minded journalthugs working for the Rupert Murdoch empire that's now imploding under a wave of scandalous -- and even criminal -- revelations.
The Murdoch media empire, it turns out, was staffed by criminals who hacked into private cell phones, bribed top UK police officers and engaged in all sorts of heinous crimes in order to find a "scoop" that would sell more newspapers. It's turning out to be the biggest media scandal in UK history.
Today, we expose the "media malpractice" of the Murdoch media empire and its vicious (yet false) attacks on Dr. Andrew Wakefield over vaccines. Story by Ethan Huff:

Media, Mindsets and Muscles: How to Get your Thoughts into Shape
"Years ago, I was on the road and happened to catch a snippet of the news while waiting in an airport.
"...the Washington DC area was plunged into darkness this evening as storms raged..."
Plunged? Darkness? Rage?
Quickly I grabbed my phone and called my mom to make sure she was okay.
When she picked up, I said, "Hey! Are you all okay?"
She sounded surprised to hear from me. "Yes. Why?"
I told her that I had just seen the news.
"Well, the lights went out. So we lit candles."
In other words, no one plunged. Nothing fell. In fact, there was no descent to speak of.
In my mom's words: "The lights went out."
But that's not news, is it? Plunging, on the other hand. Now THAT'S news!
It's no secret that the media hooks us in with subtle twists of language. After all, if we don't get hooked, then we don't need to find out more, do we? If we don't need to find out more, then we won't be watching when the commercials run.
Let's say the guy on the news tells you: "It's all good!"
That just sends you on your way, doesn't it?
"Phew! Everything's fine. Back to my day!"
But "plummeting" and "crisis" and "slumps" (oh my). Those get us every time.
Those headlines sell ads.
Here's some breaking news for you: The news is not a public service. It's a business. As such, it needs you to live your life reactively so you'll keep watching.
Now, some people choose to look at all these media messages and get outraged. "Look at those media people! They're just trying to get us!"
But this just keeps you hooked - only it's from a different angle. The media watch dog types provide another perspective - but they still remain at the level of the drama. It's still reaction.
There's another way. You can rise above the negativity completely. And then choose to see the media and all of its doom and gloom as "resistance training" - actually helping your mental muscle to grow, and training you to get better and better at creating your own reality.
Does this sound a little stupid?
Well, consider something.
Think about your muscles. Whether you're a world-class athlete or just someone who works-out to stay in shape, your muscles do not grow or change without meeting resistance. Resistance training is required for the building of body and muscle strength - even if it's just the weight of your own body, as in Pilates or Yoga.
So, why would it be any different with creating new thought patterns and better responses to the world around you?
So rather than waiting for the negativity to subside so that you can feel okay about the world, use it as training! It's a form of resistance training. It is helping you become a better creator, a better leader of your own life, and someone who can self-generate happiness and results. As opposed to being someone who waits for the outside world to tell you that you're okay, that you're gonna be okay, and that you are productive, abundant, and peaceful.
Here's how it works:
1 - You consciously choose the thoughts you want to think and believe.
2 - Every time you hear the news, or find yourself in a conversation with doomers and gloomers, become an athlete. See how your mind and its thoughts hold up to the resistance.
3 - Remember that no one goes into a gym for the first time and bench presses 300 pounds. (Or 100 for that matter!) It takes practice and awareness.
4 - Congratulate yourself each time you notice that you hold your mental strength and keep your desired perspective. That's the beginning!
When you get good at this, you'll see powerful results. You'll notice that you instantly see through the drama and the language that used to hook you. And best of all, you'll recognize that your thoughts are far more powerful than anything that plummets, descends, or has a crisis outside of them."

Simply put, The Fairness Doctrine mandates that all sides have an equal time on any media in order to balance the scales of what is heard, seen or read by US citizens, and not give a monopoly power to one point of view. Republicans got rid of the equal time provision for all media, and have been fighting it ever since, anytime anyone mentions bringing it back.. Why? Because the radical right only comprises about 20% of the population, so they need control of the airwaves to maintain power.
"A couple of weeks ago all of the monolith of right wing radio was
literally hysterical about the possibility that the Fairness Doctrine
might be brought back. And then all of a sudden on Feb 26, 2009, with
no other warning, a nauseatingly named and so-called "Broadcaster
Freedom Act" was passed as an amendment to the DC voting rights bill
in the Senate. It happened so fast that none of the congressional
bill tracking sites have an update on this yet.
We're of the opinion that the handful of hostile corporations who
have such a death grip on our political speech right now don't need
any more "freedom" to suppress even paid commercials they don't agree
with, and to coordinate secret advertiser boycotts of the few
progressive outlets in the so-called "free" market. The only point of
Broadcaster Dictatorship provision is to make the current extreme
wingnut bias of our media permanent, and to hold the DC voting rights
provision for ransom to do it.
Action Page: http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum943.php
Probably never before has such a hideously misleading provision been
snuck into a totally unrelated bill on such flimsy pretext. And had
the ideological greedheads behind it not also pushed for adding the
additional groaning baggage of an enshrinement of wild west gun
ownership rights into the same bill, it might have already been
passed into law. Please contact your members of Congress with the
action page above and tell them to make sure the Broadcaster Freedom
to Monopolize Our Airwaves Act does not make it into law.
The reason why the right wing is so petrified about the return of
real fairness to our media is that it is only by perpetuating
monopoly over the major news sources that they can effectively
exclude alternative viewpoints from public debate. For example, the
widely supported (by the public) proposals for transforming our
national health care into a vastly more efficient single payer system
are not even allowed to be discussed on most outlets. It is their
last ditch attempt to stop the march of people's democracy.
Curiously, many of our progressive radio talkers seem to bend over
backwards to put an inordinate number of abusive right wing jerks on
the air, perhaps to demonstrate that eventually they can lose
arguments to loudmouths who just keep repeating the same discredited
talking points over and over, kind of a self imposed quasi Fairness
Doctrine. Or perhaps they themselves are compelled to do so by their
own corporate overlords.
But just as nobody in the right wing would ever put on anyone who was
an effective advocate to the left of them, save for an occasional
token punching bag, you can be sure NONE of the so-called liberals on
the air right now would ever put on anyone who challenged them for
taking too many right wing positions themselves. Even now, when truly
progressive candidates run for office they are literally blacked out
of coverage even on so-called progressive channels.
Only by in fact bringing back the Fairness Doctrine can we cure the
current de facto and oppressive censorship of truly progressive

Explaining How Depleted Uranium Is Killing Civilians, Soldiers, Land
by Christopher Bollyn
Global Research, June 17, 2007
Depleted uranium weapons, and the untold misery they wreak on mankind, are taboo subjects in the mainstream media. This exclusive report should break the media embargo imposed on the American people. Despite being a grossly under-reported subject in the mainstream, there is intense public interest in depleted uranium (DU) and the damage it inflicts on humankind and the environment. While American Free Press is actively investigating DU weapons and how they contribute to Gulf War Syndrome, the corporate-controlled press ignores the illegal use of DU and its long-lasting effects on the health of veterans and the public. In August 2004 American Free Press published a ground-breaking four-part series on DU weapons and the long-term health risks they pose to soldiers and civilians alike. Information provided to AFP by experts and scientists, some of it published for the first time in this paper, has increased public awareness of how exposure to small particles of DU can severely affect human health. Leuren Moret, a Berkeley-based geo-scientist with expertise in atmospheric dust, corresponds with AFP on DU issues. Recently Moret provided a copy of her letters to a British radiation biologist, Dr. Chris Busby, about how nanometer size particles—less than one-tenth of a micron and smaller—of DU once inhaled or absorbed into the body, can cause long-term damage to one’s health. Busby is one of the founders of Green Audit, a British organization that monitors companies “whose activities might threaten the environment and health of citizens.”Moret’s writings were meant to assist Busby in a legal case being heard in the High Court in London where a former defense worker, Richard David, 49, is suing Normal Air Garrett, Ltd., an aircraft parts company now owned by Honeywell Aerospace, claiming exposure to DU on the job has made his life a “living hell.” David worked as a component fitter on fighter planes and bombers but had to quit due to health problems. He says he developed a cough within weeks of starting work.Today, David suffers from a variety of symptoms like those known as Gulf War Syndrome, including respiratory and kidney problems, bowel conditions and painful joints. Medical tests reveal mutations to his DNA and damage to his chromosomes, which, he says, could only have been caused by ionizing radiation. He has also been diagnosed with a terminal lung condition.Honeywell denies DU was ever used at the plant in Yeovil, Somerset, where David worked for 10 years until 1995. David claims that DU’s existence at the plant was denied because it is an official secret. David has asked the High Court for more time to gather evidence. The hearing is due to resume in April. “I don’t have any legal representation,” David said, “so I am representing myself. It is a real David versus Goliath case.“I am confident I will win. I hope to set a precedent for other cases of people who have suffered from the effects of depleted uranium,” he said.Moret’s letters on the particle effect of DU is based on research done by Marion Fulk, a nuclear physical chemist and former scientist with the Manhattan Project and the National Laboratory at Livermore, Calif. Fulk, who has developed a &ldquoarticle theory” about how DU nano-particles affect human DNA, donates his time and expertise to help bring information about DU to the public.Asked about Fulk’s particle theory, Busby said it is “quite sound.” “DU is much more dangerous than they say,” Busby added. “I’ve always said that it contributes significantly to Gulf War Syndrome.”When Moret’s correspondence to Dr. Busby was posted on the Internet over the New Year’s holiday under the title “How Depleted Uranium Weapons Are Killing Our Troops,” some 6,000 people read the letter in the first two days. The following Monday, a producer from BBC’s Panorama program contacted Moret to arrange an interview. If the BBC follows up with an investigation on the health effects of DU, it may be hard for the U.S. media to maintain their cover-up. More than 500,000 “Gulf War Era” vets currently receive disability compensation, many of them for a variety of symptoms generally referred to as Gulf War Syndrome. Experts blame DU for many of these symptoms.“The numbers are overwhelming, but the potential horrors only get worse,” Robert C. Koehler of the Chicago-based Tribune Media Services wrote in an article about DU weapons entitled “Silent Genocide.” “DU dust does more than wreak havoc on the immune systems of those who breathe it or touch it; the substance also alters one’s genetic code,” Koehler wrote. “The Pentagon’s response to such charges is denial, denial, denial. And the American media is its moral co-conspirator.”U.S. GOVERNMENT KNOWSThe U.S. government has known for at least 20 years that DU weapons produce clouds of poison gas on impact. These clouds of aerosolized DU are laden with billions of toxic sub-micron sized particles. A 1984 Department of Energy conference on nuclear airborne waste reported that tests of DU anti-tank missiles showed that at least 31 percent of the mass of a DU penetrator is converted to nano-particles on impact. In larger bombs the percentage of aerosolized DU increases to nearly 100 percent, Fulk told AFP.DU is harmful in three ways, according to Fulk: “Chemical toxicity, radiological toxicity and particle toxicity.”Particles in the nano-meter (one billionth of a meter) range are a “new breed of cat,” Moret wrote. Because the size of the nano-particles allows them to pass freely throughout the organism and into the nucleus of its cells, exposure to nano-particles causes different symptoms than exposure to larger particles of the same substance.Internalized DU particles, Fulk said, act as “a non-specific catalyst” in both “nuclear and non-nuclear” ways. This means that the uranium particle can affect human DNA and RNA because of both its chemical and radiological properties. This is why internalized DU particles cause “many, many diseases,” Fulk said.Asked if this is how DU causes severe birth defects, Fulk said, “Yes.”MILITARY AWAREThe military is aware of DU’s harmful effects on the human genetic code. A 2001 study of DU’s effect on DNA done by Dr. Alexandra C. Miller for the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Md., indicates that DU’s chemical instability causes 1 million times more genetic damage than would be expected from its radiation effect alone, Moret wrote.Dr. Miller requested that questions be sent in writing and copied to a military spokesman. She did tell AFP that it should be noted that her studies showing that DU is “neoplastically transforming and genotoxic” are based on in vitro cellular research.Studies have shown that inhaled nano-particles are far more toxic than micro-sized particles of the same basic chemical composition. British toxicopathologist Vyvyan Howard has reported that the increased toxicity of the nano-particle is due to its size. For example, when mice were exposed to virus-size particles of Teflon (0.13 microns) in a University of Rochester study, there were no ill effects. But when mice were exposed to nano-particles of Teflon for 15 minutes, nearly all the mice died within 4 hours.“Exposure pathways for depleted uranium can be through the skin, by inhalation, and ingestion,” Moret wrote. “Nano-particles have high mobility and can easily enter the body. Inhalation of nano-particles of depleted uranium is the most hazardous exposure, because the particles pass through the lung-blood barrier directly into the blood.“When inhaled through the nose, nano-particles can cross the olfactory bulb directly into the brain through the blood brain barrier, where they migrate all through the brain,” she wrote. “Many Gulf era soldiers exposed to depleted uranium have been diagnosed with brain tumors, brain damage and impaired thought processes. Uranium can interfere with the mitochondria, which provide energy for the nerve processes, and transmittal of the nerve signal across synapses in the brain.
“Damage to the mitochondria, which provide all energy to the cells and nerves, can cause chronic fatigue syndrome, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Hodgkin’s disease.”

FCC Destroyed Media Ownership Report
Study found local ownership means more local news
A 2004 Federal Communications Commission study that showed locally owned television stations provide more local news than others was ordered destroyed by FCC officials, and only came to light this week when a copy was leaked to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D.-Calif.).
Three years ago, then-FCC chair Michael Powell launched a proceeding on the effects of local ownership on television news as part of his drive to further deregulate media and allow for even greater consolidation. But the report commissioned under Powell turned out to undermine his argument that consolidation has no ill effects on local news, and, according to former FCC lawyer Adam Candeub, senior managers ordered "every last piece" of the study destroyed (AP, 9/14/06). On September 12, Senator Boxer, armed with the leaked report, questioned current FCC Chair Kevin Martin about it at his renomination hearing.
According to the report, locally owned stations in fact deliver nearly six minutes more of total news and almost five-and-a-half more minutes of local news in a 30-minute newscast than stations with non-local owners. This adds up to 33 more hours of local news a year--a remarkable figure, and a damning one for big media's allies in the FCC, who are required to protect the public interest and to promote localism.
As the Prometheus Radio Project noted (9/15/06):
Former FCC Chairman Michael Powell...made many high-sounding pronouncements about the need for media policy to be rooted in empirical evidence. Powell also attempted to separate out the issue of media consolidation from localism, claiming that most of the millions of comments to the Commission stemmed from a concern about local content, not a concern about concentration of ownership into fewer hands.
Martin, who succeeded Powell in 2005 as chair, voted in 2003 for ownership rules that would have dramatically raised ownership caps. The rules were sharply contested by media activists and others, and a federal appeals court struck them down in 2004. Martin told Boxer he hadn't been aware of the report and has promised to keep "an open mind" on media consolidation as the FCC embarks once again on a review of its media ownership rules (Daily Variety, 9/13/06). The FCC has since posted the full report on its website.
Powell likewise denied any knowledge of the report or responsibility for its suppression (AP, 9/15/06).
Boxer has called on the FCC's inspector general to conduct a formal, independent investigation into the suppression of the study. As the FCC revisits its ownership rules once again, transparency and a true commitment to the public interest are vital.
ACTION: Contact the FCC and encourage the Inspector General to conduct an investigation into the suppression of the media ownership report.
