Please pray for my church as we start the long and arduous quest for a new pastor. We have had a long journey, and we thought it had ended with our current (wonderful!) co-pastors, but they have been called elsewhere.
Thank you all for the stars and other positive messages while I've been away. I've been very busy with my new daughter, Ellie, born on 1/17, and going back to work. I've missed being around here and I'll try to get back here more often!
I’m just writing this to keep you all in the loop just in case something happens down the road. I had the ‘happy pleasure’ of experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions for the first time Saturday morning. They weren’t that bad, but I’ll be happy if they don’t come back. I’m glad I had them, though, because without that experience I wouldn’t have realized the contractions I had last night (every 2-3 minutes) were not just practice contractions. Fortunately those ‘real’ contractions stopped on their own after about 30 minutes, though I was about 1 contraction away from having Mike take me to the hospital. I went to my doctor today and she confirmed that Ellie and I are fine, but this obviously is something we can’t mess around with. Pray that last night was a one-time experience. I don’t want to rush to the hospital in labor until it’s time.
The World Without Us by Alan Weisman was recommended to me by a friend. Since I have limited time for books, I was wondering what other people thought about it. Is it worth reading? Is it good if I can find the time? Is it a load of hooey? (I had to include that just to use the word 'hooey'.)
My friend is finally pregnant after a long struggle, but now her doctors say she will miscarry. The strange thing is they are telling her the same things they told me (almost verbatim, though it's a different doctor), and her test results and ultrasounds are the same as mine were. My baby is now fine. Please pray that God allows her baby to grow.
