Spay/Neuter Fundraiser for Rescued Cats and Kittens ~ Every $1.00 Helps!
 from Suzanne:
Simply put,

No One At The Helm

and
Real Men Don't Hurt Animals (R.M.D.H.A.)
have rescued a handful of cats and kittens, and the funds just aren't here for us to vet all of the kitties.

I'm hoping that before everyone's holiday shopping bills rack up, you can spare anything you can -- one dollar, a few dollars -- because anything helps if everyone chips in to help us.

Vet bills are already over $650.00 and there is still a handful of cats to be spayed and neutered at RMDHA's. Samantha's invoice is available for posting for anyone who wants proof of the enormous bill. She vetted quite a few and had to get medication for an outbreak of ringworm. That's only the tip of the iceberg.

All three of us have always helped out whoever we could over the years. We'd not ask if we didn't have to.
These are my close, personal friends. This is not a scam. We have all rescued, saved from abuse, fostered and rehomed many cats. We've taken in ferals. We've donated over the years to many a stranger and friend. I just can't do it now, and I wish I could. I can barely feed and vet my own 4 cats. I am doing what I can to get by. I am desperately trying to find people to crosspost this information and the chip-in widget to raise the money needed to pay off the current vet bill and to spay/neuter the remaining cats who are now ready.
I appreciate any help at all. Thank you!!!

This is a friend on mine from a group I moderate on MySpace. My group is called *Cat Lovers* Vickie posted all the vet's info, and it verifies. The vet won't take direct donations. I guess they feel it will make more work for them. I suggested Chipin.com to Vicky, and it works well. It goes to PayPal, and it gives you a receipt. If everyone who read this just pitched in a dollar, one single dollar, Vicky could get Elvis his surgery and he'd be on his way to recovery — and pain-free walking. Please help. Time is running out, and I feel bad that she went this far, only to not be able to take the final step for Elvis. Thanks for reading, and please, PLEASE CROSSPOST! Sincerely, Suzanne

I’m asking for help for a cat I found Jan. 28th 2007 .When I saw him he was limping across the street up the road from my house. I stopped my car and called to him and surprisingly he came toward me so I went over and picked him up. He was so nice but he smelled so bad from the infection in his leg. I wasn’t sure what the problem was but I knew he needed to see a vet. His leg looks as if it was rotten as you can see in the pic’s that I’ve attached. I took him home and made him as comfortable as possible. The next morning I called my boss who loves to help stray animals and told her about the cat I found and without a second thought she said take him to the vet.
When we got to the vet they discovered that he had a rubber band around his leg. Needless to say they got the rubber band off and cleaned him up. We had the FIV test done and de-worming, de-fleaing and all the other necessary stuff. My boss wanted to keep him at her house with her other 8 cats. I took him to her and she named him Elvis. But it’s not a happy ending because the rubber band deformed Elvis’s leg. So we have been trying everything to fix his leg and nothing the vets have done has helped. I have attached pic’s of his visits to the vet. He needs an operation done on his leg that will cost 2500.00 if he can’t get the operation he will have to have his leg amputated. You can see in the pic’s what happens to the bottom of his leg because he walks on a part of it that he shouldn’t walk on. The vet said that his leg is useful to him and she hates to amputate it because of a sore. She told me to try and make something to cushion that part of his leg but I have not been able to come up with anything that will stay on, plus he turns into a different cat when you mess with that leg. I’m asking for donations to help Elvis get this operation on his leg, we have 500.00 that we will use to pay for his leg to be amputated if I can’t raise the rest of the money.

On December 26th, 2006, my little boy was born.
Harry James came into the world at 4:24pm, weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces, and 21" long.

We brought Harry home on New Year's Eve, 10:30pm.
Isn't he precious? Who would've thought that I would become a first time Mom at 40.

I'll update this share or post a new one soon, with more photos. I'm recovering from a c-section. I'm having a rough time.

At the same time I was in the hospital, my home was being moved from Long beach to West Hempstead. My kitties were moved December 30th. I had four. I now have three. Only a few hours before I arrived home, my darling cat Tiggler ran out the front door, frightened by the moving of boxes and furniture. I'm devastated and can't stop crying.

If anyone knows of a Long Island or NY area pet finder, or K9 pettracker, please contact me. Please pass on this flier if you know people local to my area. Tiggler was spotted a few days ago, 3 blocks north of my house.

Maybe I have a bit of post partum depression, maybe not...
all I know is that I should be overjoyed and happy, and I'm not able to be. I'm trying hard to keep it together, but the stress and sadness is taking it's toll.

** OVER 200 CATS SEIZED IN BLOUNT COUNTY ** 12/18/06

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting

TEARS is currently working a case involving over 200 purebred Persian and Himalayan cats. Who knows how long these poor cats suffered before someone saw them and reported it. As you can see from the photos above, they were living in deplorable conditions and suffering from many ailments. Extremely matted - some not even able to walk or stand due to large, heavy mats. Some suffering from runny eyes & noses. All suffering from intestinal parasites. They are frightened, unsocialized and desperate for help! These cats were living 5-6 in an open wire crate - huddled together, forced to eat, drink, sleep and defecate all in a tiny, tiny area. A photo of one of the crates is shown above.

TEARS is asking for your help! We do not have the space, the resources or the money to be able to save all these cats. They will need bathing and grooming. All will need deworming, vaccinations and testing for feline leukemia and feline AIDS. They will need foster homes to help socialize them and show them that their life is better now. They will need forever homes to welcome them in and allow them the opportunity to be a family pet - loved and cherished.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
DONATE - Send in a monetary donation to the address below or by clicking on the PayPal logo on our website at www.tears.petfinder.org **
Please be sure and notate that it is for this case.

FOSTER one or more of the cats until permanently adopted. All expenses are provided by TEARS. You provide the love and encouragment they will need.

ADOPT one or more of these cats and show them that their nightmare is over. They will need time and patience, but will one day be awesome pets full of self-confidence and happiness.

Crosspost this URGENT situation to everyone you know. Word of mouth is powerful and the more people that know, the more help the cats can receive.
TEARS is a 501 c(3) Non-Profit organization so your donations are tax deductable!!

Donations can also be mailed to:

** PLEASE REMEMBER TO NOTATE ON YOUR DONATION THAT IT IS FOR THE PERSIAN/HIMALAYAN CAT RESCUE **

The Orange Manalishi (with the great big tail) wrote: If so, please contact Jennifurius. I do not have any further information, so you would need to contact her directly.

Here is the story I'm passing on for her:

One Cat making his final Christmas Wish!

He was a wonderful friend of everyone in the neighborhood. He came around to greet everyone; regardless of how much food you offered. He was loyal to everyone in his community; and made his rounds on a precise schedule each day. Many people depended on his visits that were elderly in the area. He started out as an indoor cat. Never de-clawed or neutered. When his original owners moved away, they left him behind like an old piece of furniture. It is no wonder everyone did their part in taking care of the poor old boy. He had those of us that would clean him, others who fed him, and others that went out of their way to insure he had all his little boo boo..s fixed. Unfortunately, this neighborhood friend has seen brighter and better days.

Over the summer, Boots.. encountered an incredible attack. The neighborhood bully was running loose and almost killed poor Boots. The man across the street saw the attack happen and decided to take him to the local vet. He lost a lot of blood and worst of all; he lost one thing that is so important for an outdoor cat to have; his hind leg. When Boots was finally better, the neighbor brought Boots back to the neighborhood making him the usual outdoor friend.

He does not make those rounds anymore, to visit everyone. In fact, he spends most days waiting outside my door for any kind of attention he can get. The people of the neighborhood were coming down to visit and check on him but recently this has STOPPED. In fact, the main reason would be that he looks disgusting. When his allergies kick in I usually take cortazone out and spray him; so he looks oily. From lying around on hard concrete, he is beginning to get a callous on his back that is making his fur look mattered. This is causing the fur to dry up and fall out. From lying around on the ground, there are pieces of dried up weeds stuck to the area of fur.

Boots was given a second chance, a chance that seems insanely cruel considering he is back outside to survive without a way to hunt. He has lost a lot of weight. Another cat has begun following him around to mooch off Boost..s only possibilities of a few good meals and restful nights. He can only lie on one side due to his missing leg, or he cannot get up. He has obvious signs of soar muscles and only stays between my house and the neighbor..s house that left him outside in his condition. Many people in the neighborhood say he should have been put down. In addition, the right thing for me to do would be take him to have him put down. For Christ..s sake, if the dog comes again, he has absolutely NO way of protecting himself. He cannot run whatsoever.

What Boots needs is someone with a barn. Someone prepared to handle and take care of a handicap cat. A new friend that can offer him shelter, a good meal a day, a nice comfortable cushion (so his fur can heal) and somewhere warm that is protected from pesky predators. He needs a bath, a good scrub down... He needs someone that will feed him daily. (Moreover, not just a cup of milk that is bad for him, but true daily nutrition.) He IS NOT recommended for an indoor cat. He is at least 8-10 years old. Beings he is not neutered it will be natural for him to still spray; so chances are it would be a useless waste of money to try. He is not a city cat. He is used to minimal traffic in a small rural area. In fact, he is so accustomed and trusting of people; that when a car comes he lies there and expects you to drive around him. He has such a wonderful personality.

I want to help the poor little guy because he is my friend. I am afraid this winter will kill him. It will be his first winter without a leg. He has absolutely NO way of walking through snow. For Pete..s sake, he can barely walk down the sidewalk without it. He cannot jump up on things anymore. Not even a couch. Without that hind leg, he seems useless as an outdoor cat. The one thing he is not is a piece of trash that needs ignored. He is an emotional being like us whom needs love and affection. It is just wrong to take the life away from him that was so lovingly given back, and throw it away like a piece of yesterday..s garbage. He deserves love. He has given so much love to everyone in the neighborhood before now. It seems to me these people would band together to give it back. Unfortunately, in a human..s world, looks are everything. Sadly enough, Boots just does not have that adorable, melt your heart look anymore. He is a handicap. It is hard enough for people to take in an adult cat, not to mention one that is handicap.

This Christmas, find it in your heart, to spread the word about poor Booty. I know there are people out there that take in animals in this situation. The clock is running out for my friend. With winter fast approaching, I just do not see how he will survive. I cannot bring him in my house because I have another cat. I do not have a garage. I am getting a little cat house to leave out there so he can stay warm and dry.. this other cat I..m afraid will chase him from his house. With his stiffness already, I am afraid the first 0-degree weather is going to kill him. Help me find him a home; help me find a handicap society for cats so he is not murdered by a cold bitter night. Help me give Boots the second chance the man across the street was only trying to give him. I would rather know my friend was being cared for, then to see him suffer on a daily basis. I believe he would be fine if a good human spirit nurtured these needs. I believe he would be fine as an outdoor kitty as long as he had a friend that offered the affection, time, and love he needs.

For goodness sake if you lost a leg would you want to be put to sleep??????

Please cat community, help me outsource his needs and find someone that can help. Help me find a number to an animal community that will just put him to sleep. It is not fair to put Boots to sleep because someone set him outside in this condition. He was lucky to have a friend that offered him a second chance. I believe the man did the right thing. I think its unfortunate he did not think of the consequences of his actions. Boots needed an opportunity to live in a proper home after his surgery. He is such a loyal and trusted friend, I just do not want to see him go out like a sucker. I think the man had Boots fixed because he knew he was a community cat. I think he knew that someone like me would step in and do the second step. Unfortunately, I cannot walk this cakewalk alone. I need help. Please outsource my Christmas wish of survival for my furry friend. Contact me if you hear of anyone or know any place I can take him to get him the care and love he needs. Don..t even comment if you think he should be put down. Those who think he should are just cruel. I do not think a good Christian would be as stupid or cruel to recommend such torture. You know it..s the only life he gets too. The first book of the bible says we were here to care for the things god made. Well god made Boots. Technology says we can fix him. After technology, we still need love. I have heard it said, ..Technology can only do so much, and then there is god... Well I like to see this god now.

Thank you, Jennifurius
