Ms. Banana is a happy & playful 7 month old kitten who loves to frolic with the family dog in her foster home. In spite of her beginnings in an outdoor colony of unowned cats and the disability she acquired because of it, she remains loving, very sweet and trusting. When she was recued, gangrene was traveling up her back leg from a nasty wound on her foot. Only quick action on the part of the rescuer saved her, as Banana's leg needed amputation or the infection would of killed her. Having only three leg's doesn't faze or slow her down in the least! Banana races up and down the hall at full speed along with the family's small dog. Very playful with other cats as well, and will curl up to sleep with any willing feline or canine buddy. Also enjoys all the human affection she can get, from both the adults and children in her foster home. Quiet with an extremely sweet disposition and so deserving of a forever, INDOOR ONLY, home.
All of our cats and kittens are delivered spayed or neutered, with all age appropriate immunizations, free of parasites, tested for FIV and Leukemia and microchipped. The adoption fee is $95
An adoption application can be found on our website: www.putnamfelines.org

Rescuer Needs to Find Cat a Home - New York

From: Delia Bonfilio delia@bonfiliodesign.com
Last November, Eddie was rescued from a condemned parking garage in Jamaica, Queens (NY). He was taken in to be neutered and vaccinated, and it was discovered that he has FIV. Selena (the woman who rescued him) has been caring for him ever since. Although Eddie is a very loving and affectionate cat with humans, he doesn't fair as well with other cats. Selena has indoor and outdoor cats that she cares for as well, and it is for this reason that Eddie lives in her garage. She visits with him as often as she can, but he really deserves a real forever home (without young children).
Would you please:
- pass along this email to your animal loving contacts or anyone you think might be interested?
- print out the attached flyer and post it wherever you can?
Many thanks,
Delia Bonfilio

UPDATE! Tiggler is Home!
See my comment at the bottom for details   He's home safe and doing well!

Hello friends,
If you know of any cat or pet forums, newgroups, Yahoo or MSN groups, etc. that have lost pet services, posts or topics and can post this, please do. I've run out of ideas. My cat is gone a week and a day, and I'm a wreck. I'd give anything to have him back. It's a trying time for me. I'm recovering from a c-section, slowly. This loss has broken my heart.

Thanks for crossposting where possible. I know it's hard to find area specific places to post lost pet posts. I wish I could get out and ring every bell in my town, and post everywhere online. Since I'm caring for a newborn, my computer time is limited to around 30 minutes tops a day. total. I haven't posted at half the sites I should have by now.

I just want my Tiggler back.

—Suzanne

Subject: NY: Nassau County->West Hempstead/Franklin Square borderline->MISSING CAT, owners overwhelmingly devastated PLEASE HELP!!!

REWARD for LOST CAT

Tiggler is missing since New Year's Eve from Dogwood Avenue area of West Hempstead, NY
He is new to the area and only spent one night in our new home. He does respond to TIGGLER, but will most likely shy away and hide even when approached calmly. If you spot him, CALL IMMEDIATELY! There has been one possible sighting since his escape: January 3rd or 4th, in a yard on Theresa Avenue (backyards back up Dogwood Avenue homes), playing with other local cats. Tiggler is a playful cat and he is still under 2 years old.
He has a noticable hip dislocated on the left side; Tiggler doesn't have a ball joint or socket connecting his femur (?) to his hip.
Call anytime, day or night.
516-205-5333
516-489-2174

If you have any helpful information on locating my cat, please call.
If no one answers, leave a message. If you know of a pet tracker, K-9 pet locator, or anyone who does search and investigation of missing pets, please let us know.

Tiggler was possibly spotted again on January 7th, around 8:30pm, at the same location as before. I'm trying to hold onto hope.

If there are any other owners out there with lost pets in the Nassau County and surrounding areas, and you are interested in hiring a pet recovery team, please contact me. Pet Detectives does travel to search for pets, andthe cost would be split amongst the pet owners instead of just one owner.

Man had neighbor's cat killed
BY WIL CRUZ
Newsday Staff Writer

April 17, 2006

Regina Fagone of West Islip had an immediate inkling of who might be behind the disappearance of her family's Russian Blue cat earlier this month.

Fagone, 41, suspected her neighbor, Richard DeSantis, whom she accused of having two of her other cats euthanized in 1998.

So after a two-day search and twice visiting the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, she was told at the shelter that a smoky gray Russian Blue cat with a sunken left eye -- the Fagones' cat, Coal -- had been brought in without her knowledge and euthanized.

Along with her husband, Jesse, Fagone filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the town to find out who had taken Coal to the shelter. Records at the shelter showed that DeSantis, who lives next to the Fagones on Hyman Avenue, brought the cat in on April 3 to be put down. Police said he trapped the cat in his backyard.

DeSantis was arrested Saturday and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property, and making a false written statement. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and is to formally face the charges, all misdemeanors, June 5 at First District Court in Central Islip.

DeSantis, who police said has no prior arrests in Suffolk, faces up to a year in prison.

Relatives at DeSantis' home refused to comment, saying he was waiting to speak to an attorney. But a woman who declined to identify herself said there was more to the incident.

"There are two sides to every story," she said, but would not elaborate.

What Suffolk police said: After Third Precinct officers were called to the Fagone home at 654 Hyman Ave., Regina Fagone told them her family had a long-standing conflict with DeSantis over her missing cats.

In an interview, Fagone said he keeps traps in his backyard for his job as a wildlife rehabilitator, helping wounded animals. Police said DeSantis is retired, but could provide no information about his job. A police investigation confirmed DeSantis, 56, of 656 Hyman, indeed had trapped the cat and taken it to be euthanized.

The Fagones said the family feud began in 1998, after they moved to the neighborhood. Regina Fagone was pleased to see animals in DeSantis' backyard, thinking the area was animal-friendly. But soon, two Fagone family cats disappeared. Corky, a male, and Grady, a female, were euthanized in December that year at the shelter.

Jesse and Regina Fagone said they learned through a FOIA request that DeSantis had those felines euthanized. The Fagones, however, did not press charges then.

"We didn't do anything," Regina Fagone said yesterday. "I was incredulous that anybody could do anything like that. I didn't really know what to do."

Police could not confirm the earlier euthanizations.

A third Fagone cat went missing in 2002 and was never found, Regina Fagone said. A different neighborhood cat around the same time was shot and killed by an unknown assailant with a pellet gun, she said.

Yesterday, as both families sat down to their Easter Sunday dinners, the relative peace masked a deep tension.

The Fagones said DeSantis, upon his release from police custody, returned to the block and, in earshot of them, loudly mocked: "Here, kitty, kitty."

"My kids are being tormented by this guy," said Jesse Fagone, referring to his children, Nick, 13, and Samantha, 12. "How do you kill a child's pet and then torment them a week later?"

animal shelter to be euthanized. DeSantis owns and keeps several
animal traps in his backyard.
