(NaturalNews) The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster is far from over, as new reports explains that water samples taken nearly 400 miles off the coast of Japan in the Pacific Ocean are showing radiation levels of up to 1,000 times higher than previous readings. Presenting their findings at the recent Ocean Sciences Meeting in Salt Lake City, Ut., scientists continued to claim these severely elevated radiation levels are not a significant health or environmental threat.
Back in June 2011, a ship carrying scientists traveled off the eastern coast of Japan collecting water samples at distances of roughly 20 miles to 400 miles from the coast. Upon analysis, these samples were found to contain elevated levels of cesium-137 at ten to 1,000 times higher than levels detected before the Fukushima disaster, which is highly alarming.
Included in the detections was the presence of radioactive silver, which is an obvious product of melted control rods at the nuclear facility. The mainstream media is claiming that this silver is simply a result of nuclear fission, but the reality of the situation is that this silver is evidence of a complete core meltdown at the facility, which is obviously having widespread repercussions.
Meanwhile, Hartmut Nies, an official from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), insists that all this radiation is not that big of a deal. He even went so far at the recent meeting to claim that "if it was not seawater, you could drink it without any problems," a completely absurd position that has no grounding in science.
As part of their misinformation campaign, IAEA officials and others compared the radioactive cesium and silver to the naturally-occurring, elemental potassium-40 found in seawater. This natural potassium, of course, is much different than the radioactive elements being emitted from Fukushima, as sea creatures have developed a natural tolerance for potassium-40.
Even those falsely claiming that all this radiation is completely harmless to humans are at least admitting that the findings are indicative that the Fukushima nuclear facility is still leaking radiation into the environment. Marine chemist Ken Buesseler, for instance, who recently said radioactive seafood is safe and that he would eat it, toldFish Info & Servicesthat the reactor "still seems to be leaking," and that it "hasn't shut off completely."
“In October, a U.S. study – co-authored by oceanographer Ken Buesseler, a senior scientist at the non-profit Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Mass., – reported Fukushima caused history’s biggest-ever release of radiation into the ocean – 10 to 100 times more than the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe.” http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/After%2BFukushima%2Bfish%2Btales/5994237/story.html#ixzz1jfk19Yl6
Of course, these radiation releases continue through leaks from the basements of Fukushima and from radiation releases from the site, so it is only getting worse. There is no total yet, because the disaster is not over yet.
SUMMARY: JUST THE OCEAN RELEASES TOTAL 10 – 100 TIMES Chernobyl RELEASES
SUMMARY: JUST THE AIR RADIATION RELEASES TOTAL MORE THAN CHERNOBYL, NOT INCLUDING EXPLOSIONS BELOW (All calculations for airborne radiation do NOT include any reactors or spent fuel pools blowing up)
How Much Total Radiation Was Released From Reactor #3 And Spent Fuel Pool Exploding?
According to one expert who actually talked about the #3 reactor and spent fuel pool blowing up in total air releases; using .89% Plutonium per Table 1, this would be approximately pounds of Plutonium released as dust into the air. In addition, 195 TONS of uranium was blown into the air and distributed worldwide. It only takes about 200 pounds of plutonium dust distributed globally to kill everyone on the planet. This very dangerous radioactive plutonium release has been totally covered up, with very good reason. http://nukepimp.blogspot.com/p/uranium-aerosolized-into-atmosphere.html
Fukushima had 2800+ tons of highly toxic nuclear fuel which represents a lethal and potentially apocalyptic amount of radiation. It is one of the largest if not THE LARGEST nuclear power plant on the planet. One estimate is that this ‘accident’ released the equivalent of over 2,000 atomic bombs worth of uranium and plutonium, all within a short time.
Nuclear fuel pellets turned into gases including fun things like uranium dioxide, plutonium dioxide, cesium dioxide, iodine oxide, sulphur dioxide, chlorene dioxide, bismuth oxide as well as all of their radioactive decay cousins.
Because of the explosion, much of this dust went up high into the air. These poisonous atomic particles are entering the global air we all breathe, and the fresh water we all drink and the soil we all raise food on. Approximately 80% went into the ocean.
How much plutonium was released from Fukushima? One estimate is that76 trillion becquerels of Plutonium-239 released from Fukushima— 23,000 times higher than previously announced.
No pro nuclear expert or government authority has included calculations and figures on the above uranium and plutonium air releases YET, to my awareness, including the UN.
CNN News interviews Arnie Gunderson and he describes what ‘hot’ particles or fuel fleas are… http://youtu.be/G23Ik5Xf1bk
We can measure radiation with Geiger Counter, but then you have what the industry calls fuel fleas. These are called Hot Particles, made up of things like uranium, plutonium, etc. These can lodge in the lungs or intestines or bone. They lodge in the tissues and will not show up on X rays. They cannot be measured by Geiger Counters.
Of course, this radioactive air release with all of these hot particles is still going on, despite claims of ‘cold shutdown’. These hot particles are coming out of melted through, broken and leaking reactors, open to the air spent fuel pools and melted corium blobs that could be anywhere, including deep underground.
TEPCO does not know where the melted through 65 ton corium blobs are from ANY of Fushima Daichi reactors 1-5. ALL spent fuel pools and reactors are OPEN TO THE AIR, and some are melted down either partially or completely, which means radiation is coming out of them, from melted coriums, from ongoing criticalities in reactors 1,2,3 etc. They expect this to go on for ten to forty years.
Then, the authorities decided to burn all of the radioactive waste, which is releasing more hot particles as well as contaminating Cesium radiation globally. This process is expected to go on for years. The highly radioactive ash is then dumped into Tokyo Bay, which is part of the Pacific Ocean. Sorry, I am not making this up.. So this is not over yet, although the nuclear industry would love it if everyone just forgot about this place and moved on.
What can you say about Japan’s disaster? Because it is on porous sedimentary rock and landfill, they can’t even stop the radiation with a sarcophagus. Some of the fuel is MOX fuel, containing plutonium, which is 2,000,000 more deadly than uranium. And there is 400 times as much fuel as Chernobyl. And, are there even more meltdowns in Japan? There are enough hot particles from Fukkushima Daiichi alone to kill every person on earth 4,000 times.
If Chernobyl released only 3% of the total amount of nuclear fuel it contained, and it released all noble gases, what is the equivalent at Fukushima, which supposedly also released all of its noble gases, with 20 TIMES more radioactive nuclear inventory, it seems laughable to say that Fukushima is only 10% of Chernobyl in terms of total amounts of radiation released, even if we just count what went up into the air.
SUMMARY: EVERY PERSON ON THE PLANET IS BREATHING IN FIVE TO TEN HOT PARTICLES A DAY, according to Arnie Gunderson. The Japanese are getting 100 plus a day.
After the tsunami and reactor meltdowns at Fukushima, they ran out of fresh cooling water, so they brought in a huge amount of water via a barge, that was then used up, and filled with radioactive waste water coming out of the reactors. They injected 10-15m³ per hour of fresh or sea water at 8 points in 4 reactors plus 4 spent fuel pools. It is now down the road about 10 months. The total amount of water injected calculates out roughly to 300 day`s x 24 hours x 30000- 50000 liters per day.
By these calculations, what is the total amount of water used? Shouldn’t there be at least 1,500 watertanks with 100 m³ each, of highly radioactive water? Instead, I have seen only one report that there are about 400 water tanks at Fukushima.
“Two of the 370 tanks were due to arrive Saturday from a manufacturer in nearby Tochigi prefecture (state), TEPCO said. Two hundred of them can store 100 tons, and 170 can store 120 tons. The tanks will continue arriving through August, and will store a total of 40,000 tons of radioactive water.”
What is their volume, and what kind of radiation does this water contain? There is one estimate of beta radiation in at least one tank… Jiji: 5 billion becquerels of beta radiation in 10 liters of decontaminated water — Includes strontium and cesium January 10, 2012 http://enenews.com/5-billion-becquerels-of-beta-radiation-in-just-10-liters-of-decontaminated-water-includes-strontium-and-cesium
Nikkei: Two sieverts/hr of beta radiation emitted from a single liter of leaked water
So how much radiation does that calculate out to onsite in these storage tanks, given the above facts?
Report: Fukushima reactor water may be 144 times as radioactive as anticipated — Would be almost 20 times total Chernobyl release June 20, 2011 http://enenews.com/report-fukushima-reactor-water-be-144-times-radioactive-anticipated-be-20-times-radioactive-material-total-chernobyl-released
Well over 100,000 tonnes of highly contaminated water at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant are estimated to contain 720,000 terabecquerels of radioactive materials.
If Kurion’s vessel absorbed enough radioactive materials in 5 hours and it should have taken 30 days, as I wrote in my previous post, the water was 144 times as radioactive as the system had anticipated.
If the water actually turns out to be 144 times as radioactive, the Fukushima accident would need a new INES category and should not be placed in the same category (Level 7) as the Chernobyl accident which released only 5.6 million terabecquerels of radioactive materials. Maybe it should be simply called “Level Fukushima”.

How long can they continue to do this? They cannot release any cooling water to the ocean, because the reactor cores are all leaking and the cooling water is coming in direct contact with melted corium, which it is not supposed to be doing in a normal reactor. Everything running through the reactors and/or spent fuel pools is highly radioactive. Plus, all of the Rube Goldberg plastic pipes are leaking continuously, and the tanks are leaking as well.
Tepco: New leak releasing enough beta rays to cause radiation sickness — Leakage in at least 30 locations found recently
10L of water leakage Fukushima Diary, Jan. 10, 2012: http://fukushima-diary.com/2012/01/10l-of-water-leakage-500000bqcm3/
Conversion: 500,000 Bq/cm3 = 500,000 Bq/ml = 500,000,000 Bq/liter = 5,000,000,000 Bq in 10 liters of 'purified' and decontaminated water
They say this will continue for 30-40 years. Realistically, how long can they continue this process before they are overwhelmed?
Over 100,000 tons of highly radioactive water is in the basements of DAINI, which is down the road from DAICHI about ten miles. Bet you never heard about that either. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SCD_SOl12E
There are plenty of leaks from the basements of the containment buildings as well as other buildings, down into the ground. The water leaking out of pipes and hoses as well as many storage tanks on site, is all going down into the ground.
……………………………………………………………
NO ONE is counting the total of ALL OF THE ABOVE. No one is counting or tracking ongoing radiation releases. We are NOT counting what is in the large radioactive water storage tanks on site. We are NOT counting radioactive water that went underground, or the two nuclear explosions #3 reactor and spent fuel pool.. Both of these have way more tonnage of Plutonium and Uranium MOX fuel, about 1 million times more dangerous than plain old Chernobyl style fuel, and they went up into the air.. This is NOT in any calculations or guesses I have seen yet.

Under Reporting Of Fukushima Radiation Released
http://youtu.be/sX94LyFUNZc
From video above; He found serious under reporting of radiation levels even 100km away from Fukushima. He found radioactive Cesium at 1000 times higher concentrations in places like Tokyo than the air concentration at the peak of nuclear weapons testing fallout.. This is serious fallout, but is being ignored by Japanese authorities, who are looking only at exterior dose rates, and nothing else.
There is a very serious radioactive contamination. There was a place in Tokyo that had higher levels of radiation than in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
……………………………….
I have not seen any counts yet, that total ALL radioactive emissions from FUKU, based on realistic scenarios. NO actual data from monitoring equipment has been released yet. There are NO monitors downwind, and none on the ‘vent’ stacks.
How much radiation has been released?
Ocean
Basements
On site water storage tanks
Air over ocean, all nuclear materials, not just 2 out of 100
Japanese ground
Groundwater under plant
Sprayed radioactive water on forests
Water in tanker boats, taken where????
GAS emissions
Dust emissions
Nuclear explosion(s) emissions and dust from MOX fuel
Hydrogen explosions emissions
Emissions coming from spent fuel pools
Radioactive releases from criticalities in spent fuel pools and/or hydrogen and/or nuclear explosions
Emissions going up vent stacks at all reactors 1-5?
Filter emissions filtered out of vent stack
Ongoing emissions into air, water, see above
NO ONE has yet even attempted to TOTAL ALL OF THE ABOVE…
Anything less is NOT SCIENTIFIC.
Where are all of these supposed scientists, who are hired to do nothing else but do this job?
Why is this blog seemingly the ONLY source trying to do this?
Why is an average person, with no training, experience or pay trying to do this, but no nuclear expert is?
Waters around the North Pole are absorbing carbon dioxide at such a rate that they will soon start dissolving the shells of living sea creatures. Carbon dioxide gas is ACID, and it affects our health as well, and not in a positive way... Breathing in acid is not a healthy thing to do.
On Ocean Day we recognize the critical role the oceans play in our very survival. Many of you are aware of the immense impact the oceans have on our lives in terms of food, medicine, climate regulation and even oxygen production. However, the oceans play another important role for all of us - one that is less important to our survival, but is fundamental to how we experience the natural world. Indeed, the oceans let us:
Sit on a beach watching waves break while holding hands with the love of your life
Take the drop on a wave just slightly beyond your ability, hit the bottom and turn back up the face while looking down the line, pumped with adrenaline because you made it
Watch children play in the surf - hearing their laughter and feeling yet another generation make an emotional connection to the sea
Feel the wind and ocean spray on your face as you sail through open water
Float weightlessly in paradise as you dive with great ocean fish amongst thriving corals
This list could go on forever, but you know that. In fact, if you're receiving this you already know a lot about the ocean and its issues. So on World Ocean Day, take the time to share your love for the ocean with the people you know who aren't as connected as you. Encourage them to:
Use less plastic, recycle more, drive less (walk more), eat sustainable seafood, and do all the simple things that directly impact the ocean
Engage in ocean politics to drive the changes needed at the national level to ensure healthy oceans and coasts for the long term
Join Ocean Champions, the political voice of the ocean. On World Ocean Day, let's become stronger as we fight this fight together!
