Polish Fudation/Rescue for horses (actually they have all kinds of animals in the rescue click here to see them: http://stacyjkamaltusia.ovh.org/zwierzeta.php) is asking for help as they have many problems with sick animals. They need more money at now as there is winter in Poland, but they need money also for complicated surgery and treatment of young horse called Lezka. Lezka has broken leg which will need surgery and probably amputation, people from the fundation want to collect money to buy a prosthesis for her.
As you can imagine there are mainly sick and neglegted animals in the rescue which need medical treatment.
Aleksandra Czechowska from the fundation wrote a sad letter that she is very worried about all sick animals. They need medical help at now and the fundation has no money but unpaid bills form hospital and vet.
I've got a letter where somebody writes that the horse Lezka should be put down, not tortured. People can't understand that medicine is very advanced now and living with prosthesis is nothing odd. Lezka is 6 months old pony, when she had been taken from her owner she had already infection of her broken leg. Vets said there was 10% chance to save the leg (it was one month ago). Lezka is still in hospital and vets say that the only help is amputation. The cost of surgery and prosthesis is about 3.300 $. Here you are the photos of Lezka: Łezka and photo of a horse with prosthesis I found:
The forest situated on the border of Poland and Belarus is the last remaining natural lowland forest in Europe. It is abundant in wildlife and is home to lynxes, wolves as well as European bisons. Unfortunately, the natural wealth and reputation of this unique place have not ensured its effective protection, with only 17% of the Polish area protected as a national park. The rest is subject to forest management and logging of old trees – an enormous threat to the natural harmony of the forest and the survival of its wildlife. For many years the forest has been systematically exploited and today there is a significant increase in the amount of harvested wood.If this exploitation continues it soon may be too late! Help us save this truly special place by signing our petition demanding that the national park is extended to cover the whole area of the Białowieża Forest in Poland more info: http://againess.wikidot.com/xoo
