Friday, March 31st, 2006 join communities, students and advocates across the country who will be spending the night out on the streets to raise awareness and political will to combat the growing poverty in our cities, states and nation. Over 35.9 million Americans live in poverty, 36 million are at risk of experiencing hunger and 3.5 million experience homelessness every year. We believe that in the most affluent country in the world this poverty is unnecessary and unacceptable. So we are calling for real change that will require commitments from individuals, communities, cities, states and the nation to join together and work for a new America.
