Hi Claudia, this is a heart-breaker and time is running out as I write this. A really nice man contacted me today after having called dozens of places and gotten no where and told me the saddest tale. He has been diagnosed with Cancer and has to go home to family in NY for support while he gets treatment. Meanwhile, he has had 3 dogs for their whole lives and can not take them or find anyone to board them for him until he finds out how his treatment goes,etc. Euthanasia is near and he is devastated. His voice is absolutely flat and he is obviously depressed about the heartbreaking possibility.

Can you send this out to see if anyone would be willing to foster his kids for even a while to buy us all time? They are a family, a mother (spayed), father and son (not neutered) Very people friendly and gentle.

They are a ridge-back Dad named "Razor", the female (mom) is Simba, a Chow mix and "Chaps" the son. He says they are all about 50lbs and all between 8 and 11 years old. I know. Big and older...not an easy one.

BUT if we, the rescue community, can find someone reliable with a safe yard and good heart, we can buy this dear man, Jeffrey, some small amount of peace of mind...at least for a while. Frankly, I can not imagine the anguish of discovering that you are going to be fighting for your life and knowing that the dogs you raised from pups are standing in some bare bones shelter someplace strange to them, just waiting to be killed. That thought alone would kill me. And I think there are others out there that would  feel the same way.

Re. the cost, I have the Critter Coalition (www.crittercoaliti on.org) and we will send $ monthly for food and necessary vet bills. We'll have a small fund raiser for it.

Jeffrey is supposed to leave this week for NY. Are there any Angels out there for this man and his beloved canine family? Please contact me directly at kateporter@aol. com if so. I am in Joshua Tree, just an hour outside of Palm Springs and can get the dogs to you if you are in So. Calif. or will meet me within 100 miles. God bless you all for passing this on. Kate
