GREAT WHITE

Great White is an American blues-based Rock and Glam Metal band. Great White formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, California under the name Dante Fox. Their sound is notable for its similarities to Led Zeppelin. Great White singer Jack Russell's vocals are often also very similar to Robert Plant's distinctive wail.

Great White is known primarily for their hit "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", a cover version of a song written by Mott the Hoople's Ian Hunter. Their album "Once Bitten..." was certified platinum in April 1988. Their follow-up album "...Twice Shy", included their biggest hit, "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", for which they received a Grammy Award nomination. This album was certified double platinum in 1989.

Their other albums include "Out of the Night" (1982) , "On Your Knees" (1982), "Great White" (1984), "Recovery: Live!" (1987), "Hooked" (1991), "Let it Rock" (1996), and "Can't Get There From Here (Great White Album)" (1999).

Bob recreated the band with new members in L.A. and performed on the USA Network and Canada's MUCH Music Network.

Have you seen her menu yet?  It's probably her birthday is past due by now. Just in case you haven't seen her menu, here is the list.  Please write to her...I wonder if she has a warm heart towards to her dogs. I guess as long as it is not her dog's fatty liver, it's okay to eat up???  It's very depressing to know who she real is behind the nice smile and her shows.  And so many people love her because spends lots of her $ to other citizens.  Well you are to judge her.

1. Veal
2. lobster
3. foie gras

Surprised anybody? You shouldn’t be. This is a woman who had room in her home and heart for 5 dogs - ALL OF WHOM came from precious purebred breeders. Didn’t even have room in her heart to save one shelter animal with all that cash.

And she keeps inviting back to her show a notorious DOG vivisectionist even though
PETA has sent her footage of him and his gruesome experimentation on the objects of her affection. Oh no- I stand corrected. We all know she doesn’t give a flying f** about any other dogs except her 5 precious pure breeds.

Good luck getting her to care about a lobster then.

It only requires your email address and your full name.  In fact it isn't just the PetSmart but also other pet store chain store like Petland and private bird stores.  I have visited so many stores and 9 out of 10 stores are extremely dirty environments too many birds in tiny cages.  And many of them are already sick and their life span is only less than the few years for the parakeets.  My heart is breaking apart by seeing them suffer, and those people who are greedy and continuously breeding for the profits.  This got to be stop.  I really appreciate if you can sign on this campaign and spread it out to others who can support this cause.  Suzanne

Pet-Shop Bird Factories: Hell for Those Born to Fly

PetSmart Condemns Birds to a Life Sentence Behind Bars

Birds Don't Belong Behind Bars!

Bird Factories: Hell on Earth for Millions of Animals

You may be aware of our nation's dog and cat overpopulation crisis, but did you know that birds face the same problem? Just as puppy mills churn out dogs for unscrupulous pet stores to sell, huge commercial bird operations house birds and remove their offspring by the thousands in order to sell them to stores like PetSmart. In homes throughout the United States, an estimated 40 million birds are kept caged and captive—lonely, bored, and a long way from their magnificent homes.

Urge PetSmart to Go Bird-Free
Please, never buy a bird. Take a moment to fill out this form and ask PetSmart to stop selling birds.

Personalized letters always work best. Feel free to use the following text, but your message will carry more weight if you write your own customized message and subject line.

As part of our August focus on companion animal abuse, I'm writing to alert you to the cruelty involved in the sale of caged birds and to urge you to take action to help stop the suffering of these wonderful animals.

I'm sure that you're aware of our nation's dog and cat overpopulation crisis. But did you know that birds bred for the pet trade face the same problem?

That's right. Just as puppy mills irresponsibly churn out hundreds of thousands of dogs for mall stores to sell while others are killed for want of a good home, huge commercial operations breed birds in factory-like conditions and sell their babies to stores like PetSmart.

Right now, it is estimated that there are about 40 million birds living in small cages in U.S. homes. Thousands upon thousands of them have become neurotic from loneliness and boredom, and they are all a long way from the wild open skies where they belong. These sensitive birds are condemned to live out their entire lives—a few decades for most and as long as 80 years for larger species like macaws—as mere decorations in people's homes. Holding birds captive and denying them of their natural urges to fly and to be with others of their own kind often drive them insane.

Many people tire quickly of birds after buying them or aren't prepared to care for highly demanding and very noisy animals—birds scream for a mate and for attention. This means that many are yelled at, kept covered with a cloth in order to silence them, relegated to a basement, or worse. Bird shelters cannot adequately handle the demand for them to take additional birds: They are full, and most are so crowded and understaffed that incoming birds—some blind or turning in circles because of madness—cannot get all the attention that they need.

That's why PETA works so hard to convince pet stores to stop selling birds. PETCO—the nation's largest pet-store chain next to PetSmart—agreed last year to stop selling all large species of birds after PETA met with company representatives.

Despite claiming that it cares about animals, PetSmart still cages and sells birds, a practice that results in immense suffering for these intelligent and naturally lively beings.

Please help birds! Take action right now by urging PetSmart to stop selling birds.
http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/petsmart_jails_birds
Just two minutes of your time can make a real difference for tens of thousands of animals. And please tell everyone you know to learn about this problem and not shop at PetSmart until the company stops selling birds.

Thank you for speaking out for all animals.

I am happy to see this type of vacations is available.  I love to take this trip.  Unfortunately my house remodeling hasn't finished yet.  Once my house is ready for enjoyment, I will definately consider take this trip in the future.  What a great idea!

People can take advantage of this vacation if they ever want to try to stay in vegan diet, but they didn't have the will power.

Vegan Vacation 2006

This event will be taking place from August 3-9 in Portland, Oregon USA

Check out this link for more details:
www.veganvacations.net

We hope to see you there!

The basic idea originally was to have a get-together of the Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness forum members to hang out and meet in person. We've expanded that and welcome anyone to participate in the activities. Everyone is welcome! You dont even have to be Vegan or into bodybuilding & fitness - just come out for good times and to see what this is all about!

We encourage the members of the Portland community to get involved as much as possible as well. There are many ways to participate and we'll have an itinerary posted here soon.

While the Vegan Vacation gathering is still in the final planning stages, there will definitely be a variety of activities focused on fitness, great food, veganism & generally having fun! Most events will be free or low-cost. Organizers will provide as much free housing and food as possible. YOUR assistance and ideas are welcomed!

Originally, the Vegan Vacation location was going to be Los Angeles, California. For a variety of reasons, the gathering location has been switched to Portland, Oregon.

So Why Portland?

Here's just a sampling of what Portland has to offer:

- Portland is the #1 Vegan Friendly City in America

-Portland is one of the most beautiful and clean cities in America

-Portland is one of the fittest cities in America with all kinds of outdoor activities during the beautiful summer for athletes to take part in

-Portland is only an hour from the Pacific Ocean so we can still "hang out on the beach"

-Portland has more vegan and vegetarian restaurants per capita than pretty much anywhere

-Portland actually has vegan soft serve ice cream that comes out of the machines (kinda like a Dairy Queen, but vegan)

-There are many forum members in Portland and around the region so we are sure to have a nice turnout and lots of local tour guides

-Portland has lots of other attractions such as being located near Mt. Hood and Mt. Saint Helens, Seattle, Olympia, Eugene, Vancouver & Victoria plus all kinds of great wild nature, rivers and mountains.

-Did we mention that we have Food Fight!, the ALL VEGAN 7-11 type convenience store?

If you have any questions, please email Robert Cheeke at: robert@veganbodybuilding.com

Vegan Vacation FAQ

Why have a Vegan Vacation?

To have a gathering of vegans from around the world to have an impact on the community, have fun, network, and meet in person to spend time with like-minded people.

Why Portland, Oregon?
Portland has been considered the #1 Vegan-friendly city in America by PETA and GoVeg.com, and the #2 Vegan-friendly city in America by VegNews Magazine. Portland is the home of countless vegan-friendly restaurants, the home of many vegans and vegan organizations and businesses, and is full of great vegan people you will meet soon!

How long is the Vegan Vacation?
The Vegan Vacation in Portland will be taking place from August 3-9. Feel free to come early or stay late.

Will there be downtime for me to do my own thing?
Yes, there will be downtime everyday, mostly in the afternoons. Most days have two events, one in the morning, one in the evening. Other days have 3 events, but there will be downtime each day and participants are not required to attend every event, just ones you find interesting, or have availability to attend.

What do I need to bring?
Check the itinerary on www.veganvacations.net to see what activities will be taking place and bring items accordingly. Some general suggestions: Camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, running shoes, spending money, athletic clothes, enough clothes to last a week if you are coming for the whole event (although there will be opportunities to wash clothing), a watch, and open mind.

Who is going to be there?
The majority of the participants in the Portland Vegan Vacation will be residents of Portland and nearby areas. We also have vegans coming from as far away as Germany and the East Coast of the United States. We expect a few dozen people for each event and perhaps as many as 50-100 people for some events. Check the itinerary for events with limited occupancy (only two events).

What does VeganBodybuilding.com have to do with VeganVacations.net?
Both websites are run by Robert Cheeke, and
VeganBodybuilding.com was where the first Vegan Vacation was organised. This website (veganvacations.net) is for organising current and future vacations, VeganBodybuilding.com is just how it started. You might like to pop over there and check it out!

Do I have to be into bodybuilding and fitness to come to the vacations?

Not at all, we encourage anybody and everybody to come along, and join in with whatever you like. A vacation is a time to enjoy yourself, you choose what you enjoy doing, it's mainly a chance to meet up with lots of vegans at once.

Who should I contact with questions about the Vacations?

SO WHAT HAPPENS TO UDDERS?

Gail paraphrased the well-publicized dairy industry
campaign with her own question.

"Got pet food?"

"You mean, those little cans of dog and cat food
contain minced udders?" I asked?

Occasionally, I find myself situated behind little old
ladies at supermarket checkout counters. They often spend more money on tiny tins of cat food then they do on their own groceries. The cans read, "100% beef." If only they knew this dairy industry secret.

A PANDORA'S BOX OF PATHOGENS
Eisnitz begins Chapter Thirteen with a quote from
David Carney, a USDA meat inspector.

"We used to trim the %#&!*% off the meat.
Then we washed the %#&!*% off the meat.
Now the consumer eats the %#&!*% off the meat."

If you eat chicken, you might want to skip the next
paragraph. If you buy and prepare chicken for your
family, you cannot afford not to read what follows.

Gail writes:
"Today, thanks to automation in the industry,
individual poultry plants... can kill and process
as many as 340,000 birds per day.

Since it's easier to bleed a bird that isn't flapping
and struggling, most live birds have their heads dragged
through an electrically charged water bath to paralyze
-not stun- them. Other industrialized nations require
that chickens be rendered unconscious or killed prior to
bleeding and scalding so they won't have to go through
the process conscious. Here in the United States, however, poultry plants... keep the stunning current down to about one-tenth of that needed to render a chicken unconscious.

A conveyor then carries the shocked and paralyzed birds
to a high-speed circular blade meant to slit their throats
but which occasionally misses birds as they rush past at
the rate of thousands per hour.

After their heads and feet are removed and they've been
washed (and feathered), the chickens are re-hung on an
evisceration line. There, machines automatically cut
them open and pull their guts out.

In the scald tank, fecal contamination on skin and
feathers gets inhaled by live birds, and hot water opens
bird's pores allowing pathogens to seep in. The pounding
action of the de-feathering machines creates an aerosol
of feces-contaminated water which is then beaten into the birds. Contamination also occurs when the birds have their intestines removed by automatic eviscerating machines. These high-speed machines commonly rip open intestines, spilling feces into the bird's body cavities. Rinsing a chicken 40 times does not remove all of the bacteria.

Water in chill tanks has been aptly named 'fecal soup' for
all the filth and bacteria floating around. By immersing
clean, healthy birds in the same tank with dirty ones, you're practically assuring cross-contamination. Chickens that bathe together get contaminated together."

Gail finishes the chapter by quoting Gerald Kuester of USDA:

"There are about 50 points during processing where
cross-contamination can occur. At the end of the line,
the birds are no cleaner than if they had been dipped
in a toilet."

MILK
What drips down a cow's leg while it's being milked? Feces, mucous, blood, bacteria. A filter is used to remove those impurities before the milk enters the bulk holding tank. Drink that milk and devour the glorious essence of bovine excrement.

MEAT
Eat their flesh and you consume those diseased animals that no longer produce enough milk to guarantee a profit to the dairyman. When cows are diseased, with cancer or leukemia, paratuberculosis or other sicknesses, that's when they are sent to their final fate. Your dinner plate.er produce enough milk to guarantee a profit to the dairyman. When cows are diseased, with cancer or leukemia, paratuberculosis or other sicknesses, that's when they are sent to their final fate. Your dinner plate.

Support Licensure of Naturopathic Physicians (PA residents only, please.)

Target: The Honorable Robert M. Tomlinson, Senator, Pennsylvania Senate
Sponsor: Ryan Ace

  • Signatures: 6
  • Goal: 1,000
  • Deadline: Ongoing...

  • Quality Assurance

    Health Freedom

    Treatment Integration

    Fraud Protection

    Health Care Transformation

    Dear Senator Tomlinson:

We, the undersigned, are calling on you and the other members of Committee for Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, to introduce legislation to license naturopathic physicians in Pennsylvania
With today’s ever-rising health care costs and increasing instances of chronic disease in our country, there is a renewed interest by the public, government, and health care institutions in the development of patient-centered systems of health care directed to improve the health of individuals and communities while also preventing illness. Licensure of Naturopathic Physicians provides the public with just such a natural health care option.

Contemporary Naturopathic Physicians (N.D.s) are trained in medical science and conventional diagnostic techniques, and are qualified to apply natural therapies in treating and preventing disease, as well as restoring and maintaining health. Pennsylvania citizens have the right to know that the people offering such services are competent and licensed as physicians, and will be held accountable for their professional activities and outcomes. Licensure of N.D.s will ensure that practitioners are reliable and properly educated, and that there would be oversight to ensure that all N.D.s are practicing properly and maintaining professional standards. Since Licensed N.D.s would be required to work under set standards and competency requirements, other health care professionals would be able to engage them in dialog, refer patients and integrate their own methods with standard natural techniques.

Individuals who falsely present themselves as knowledgeable about natural health care are a danger to the public, as well as to the integrity of naturopathic practice. While anyone can (and should) educate themselves in the knowledge of natural health care through reading, a physician must have the education to be able to recognize, differentiate, and diagnose serious illnesses. A physician also needs the insight needed to understand and use emerging technical advances in healing. Finally, a physician must fully cooperate with voluntary and public agencies to work for the improvement of health in the community. With licensure of N.D.s, public awareness of natural alternatives will spread far and wide, opening new doors for those individuals whose conditions have not responded successfully to conventional treatments.

In short, legal recognition of Naturopathic Medicine via licensing creates a climate in which patients can trust the credentials of their N.D.; encourages the evolution and growth of medicine; and provides a foundation for the cooperation with mainstream medicine to build a truly complementary system of medicine for the twenty-first century.

    Sincerely,

    What Kills Birds?

    Human Causes of Bird Fatalities

Curry & Kerlinger has compiled the following information from environmental organizations and goverment agencies.

This list is meant to inform the public and to put wind turbine fatalities in perspecitve.

    Glass Windows
Bird Deaths a year: 100 to 900+ million
Dr. Daniel Klem of Muhlenberg College has done studies over a period of 20 years, looking at bird collisions with windows. His conclusion: glass kills more birds than any other human related factor.

    House Cats
Bird Deaths a year: 100 Million
The National Audubuon Society says 100 million birds a year fall prey to cats. Dr. Stan Temple of the University of Wisconsin estimates that in Wisconsin alone, about 7 million birds a year are killed by cats

    Automobiles / Trucks
Bird Deaths a year: 50 to 100 Million
Scientists estimate the number of birds killed by cars and trucks on the nation's highways to be 50 to 100 million a year. Those statistics were cited in reports published by the National Institute for Urban Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

    Electric Transmission Line Collisions
Bird Deaths a year: up to 174 million
Estimates made by the U.S. Fish and Wildife Service demonstrate millions of birds die each year as a result of colliding with transmission lines.

AgricultureBird Deaths a year: 67 million
Pesticides likely poison an estimated 67 million birds per year according to the Smithsonian Institution. Cutting hay may kill up to a million more birds a year.

Land Development Bird Deaths a year: unknown
Suburban sprawl is a silent but deadly killer. The National Audubon Society says loss of bird habitat is the greatest threat to bird populations.

Communication TowersBird Deaths a year: 4 to 10 million
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that bird collisions with tall, lighted communications towers, and their guy wires result in 4 to 10 million bird deaths a year.

    Stock Tank Drowning
Bird Deaths a year: unknown U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists and other conservationists believe that large numbers of birds inadvertently drown in livestock water tanks.

Oil and Gas ExtractionBird Deaths a year: 1 to 2 million
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that up to 2 million birds died landing in oil pits to bathe and drink in 1997. Fish and Wildlife says netting has improved that situation somewhat. There are no overall estimates for the number of birds affected by oil and gas spills, and oil and gas extractions (and transport.)

Logging and Strip MiningBird Deaths a year: unknown
Logging and strip mining destroy bird habitat. According to the National Audubon Society, habitat destruction is the leading cause of bird population declines.

    Commercial Fishing
    Bird Deaths a year: unknown
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Ornithological Council report that 40 thousand seabirds per year are killed in the Gulf of Alaska by longline fishing operations. These same sources say long lining and gill netting kill large numbers of birds in other parts of the country as well.

    Electrocutions
Raptor Deaths a year: more than 1,000
Experts estimate that more than one thousand hawks, eagles, falcons and owls are electrocuted on transmission lines and poles each year.

    HuntingBird Deaths a year: 100 + million
ccording to the U.S. Fish and Wildife Service, more than 100 million ducks, geese, swans, doves, shorebirds, rails, cranes, among others are harvested legally each year.
