BRONX TEEN ROASTS THIS KITTEN IN OVEN & LAUGHS ABOUT IT.
BRONX CAT ROASTER SHOULD BE TRIED AS ADULT. LET THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT THIS.Dear friends,
The overwhelming cases of extreme animal abuse seem to be happening with more frequence, and many are young people. Such is the case of the Bronx teen who roasted a live kitty beyond recognition. Asked why, she simply responded that she hates cats, and that it was done as a joke. This woman's callousness is unspeakable, considering the seriousness of the crime. Since she--allegedly--already has a criminal background, it is of utmost importance that she does not walk away with a slap on the wrist. Quite by the contrary, she represents a danger to society, and should be locked away for a long time. However, for this to happen, she must be tried as an adult. Her trial is scheduled for July 15.
Ask them to try Cheyenne Cherry as an adult. OR Write to them individually as follows: Robert T. Johnson, Bronx District Attorney The Office of the Bronx County District Attorney 198 East 161st Street; Bronx, NY 10451 ph: 718-590-2000, 718-590-2312; fax: 718-590-2198 email: angueirl@bronxda.nyc.gov

=============================================== SUGGESTED LETTER: Cheyenne Cherry tossed her ex-roommate's kitty, Tiger Lily into the stove where she was roasted alive beyond recognition. When asked, Cherry simply said that she hated cats.
It is well known that psychopath such as Jeffrey Dammer, who sadistically killed and ate his victims, started off sadistically killing defenseless animals. They practice their cruel instincts on defenseless beings and will likely never stop there.
Cheyenne Cherry already had a criminal background, and now she shows absolutely NO remorse for the most cold blooded and cruel act she committed against a defenseless being. This in itself is a very worrisome sign which puts her on the same line of psychopaths who start their blood careers by practising on animals. She represents a danger to society because with this type of personality NO ONE can tell when or where she will stop.
What will happen if Cherry starts hating small children or a defenseless elderly? Will she toss them in the oven or throw them over a bridge? This woman must be tried as an adult as she needs to be in jail for a long time. Our society will not be as safe as it should with these types of criminals free to do as they please.
Her web page is a reflection of a person who wants to be a gangsta. She has been accused of assault, theft and breaking and entering into the young woman's apartment to vandalize it and toss bleach on the walls. She is a junior career criminal and is a menace to anyone she meets.
She claims to like watching Law & Order and probably thinks that since she's 17 she will get away with a slap on the wrist. She needs to know the difference between TV and real life. Please, make a statement to our courts that this is a horrible crime and should be given a maximum sentence and tried as an adult.

Earthrace is joining the fight for the whales. Andrew Darby, Madeira, Portugal June 26, 2009 JAPAN has asked Australia to prevent the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin from leaving port to harass its whalers in the Antarctic next summer, but the plea may have little effect. The anti-whaling activists plan to upgrade their fleet from an ageing ex-North Atlantic fisheries patrol boat to include another ship, this time out of the future. The global speedboat Earthrace would head south under Sea Shepherd colours next summer, the group's leader Paul Watson said "It looks like a spaceship," Mr Watson said. "It can do 40 knots and dive under waves completely. We'll be using it to intercept and block harpoons." Earthrace circled the globe fuelled by biodiesel in 61 days last year. New Zealand owner/skipper Pete Bethune said he decided to get involved because "this is happening in my backyard and it really pisses me off". He said he was adding half a tonne of Kevlar to the vessel to toughen it up against the ice. Earthrace's role was unveiled as the International Whaling Commission heard that Sea Shepherd's protests had endangered the lives of whalers last summer when the Steve Irwin was involved in two collisions. "These are highly dangerous and it can only be described as a miracle that there has been no death or large-scale accident to date," Japanese delegation member Jun Yamashita told the 71-nation meeting. "We cannot possibly tolerate such audacity. We ask for all appropriate measures, including a ban on the ship from leaving port." Mr Watson said the Steve Irwin would soon leave Brisbane for Hobart after a $500,000 refit. Australian Department of Foreign Affairs official David Dutton told the meeting the Rudd Government was deeply concerned about clashes in the Southern Ocean. He said the Australian Federal Police was now investigating the conflict.
June 24th, 2009 – Funchal, Madeira, Portugal - The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society today officially announced Operation Waltzing Matilda – the 6th Sea Shepherd campaign to defend the whales of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary from Japanese poachers.
About 30 members of the media attended the press conference despite the hotel manager insisting that the meeting had to be low profile and held in the back of the lobby hidden by the bar.
“This is a research project,” said Captain Paul Watson. “We’ve decided to demonstrate our solidarity with the Japanese, Australian, and New Zealand Research projects. Our primary objective is to research non-lethal means for defending whales. Of course this may include research into Japanese ship’s hull plate thickness, vessel stress tests, and paint chip analysis, as well as observation of whaler behavior in response to olfactory stimulation.”
To illustrate the research theme of the Sea Shepherd campaign, Sea Shepherd Netherlands Director Laurens de Groot and Sea Shepherd UK Director Steve Roest donned inflatable boats marked “research” and armed themselves with Styrofoam harpoons to chase IWC delegates. In their attempt to get delegate “tissue samples” for research purposes, they had difficulty finding elusive Japanese whalers. However, Australian Environment Minister Peter Garrett innocently stumbled into the path of the harpoons and because Australia is apparently voting to support the slaughter of Humpbacks in Greenland, he was considered a legitimate target.
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will be returning to the Southern Ocean in December for the 6th Antarctic Whale Defense Campaign. This year Sea Shepherd will be sending two ships to the Southern Ocean, the upgraded and fully repaired Steve Irwin and potentially the fast interceptor vessel Earthrace.
On board will be an Animal Planet film crew to document the 3rd season of Whale Wars.
“We are taking the most powerful anti-whaling weapon at our disposal: a film crew,” said Laurens de Groot, a Sea Shepherd Netherlands Director. “The cameras are more powerful than cannons and our ammunition is the naked truth about illegal whaling. We intend to keep the focus on Japanese crimes and we intend to sink the Japanese whaling fleet – economically.”
An international crew of volunteers will crew the ships to the Southern Ocean but this year’s campaign will have an Australian face. For this reason the name Operation Waltzing Matilda has been chosen. This is the unofficial national anthem of Australia. Translated from Aussie it means "hiking with a bedroll or pack."
“Australians are the most passionate whale defenders on the planet,” said Captain Watson. “Operation Waltzing Matilda will reflect our gratitude to Australia for the incredible support we have received from the people of this wonderful nation since 2005. The Steve Irwin will depart in December from Western Australia with the majority of the crew being Australians.”
Kylie Herd, a Sea Shepherd crewmember from Perth attending the IWC Conference in Madeira said, “Our logo this year is modeled on the art that adorned the fighter planes of the legendary Flying Tigers who fought the Japanese Imperial forces in China. The colors of the Aboriginal and Australian flags have been incorporated into the design with the pirate kangaroo holding Neptune’s trident of justice. We intend to waltz down to the Southern Ocean to dance dangerously with the Japanese whaling fleet and we intend to unroll a Matilda full of defensive tactics for the whales against the Japanese whale poachers.”
Whale Defense Campaign: Operation Waltzing Matilda is scheduled to depart for the Southern Ocean on December 1st, 2009.
As usual, Sea Shepherd has some new surprises for the Japanese pirate whalers this year and the whalers will surely have some surprises for Sea Shepherd. The confrontations are escalating as the whalers lose more and more money each year. The Sea Shepherd crew intends to persist and will never retreat from the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary until the last harpoon has been silenced and the word “sanctuary” is understood once and for all. There is no retreat for Sea Shepherd from the whale wars, there is only victory or defeat for the whales, and we do not intend see the whales defeated, nor do we intend to let these blubber chewing murdering barbarian butchers win.

Tough economic times are also devastating for companion animals. As more and more families across the U.S. lose their homes to foreclosure, a new animal rescue issue is arising: an influx of animals to our nation's shelters as families can no longer afford to keep them, or as pets are not welcome in their families' new accommodations. The need is great. More than 800,000 American families lost their homes in the last year alone due to foreclosure.

Whale Wars Wins Academy Award for Television with a Conscience
On Thursday April 30th, Sea Shepherd Founder and Executive Director Captain Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd Director of Shark Conservation Kim McCoy attended the 2nd Annual Award Ceremony hosted by the Academy of Television Arts and Science.
The event was a red carpet affair held at the Beverly Hills Hotel to honor television programs that have made a valuable contribution to society.
Hosted by Dana Delaney of Desperate Housewives, the awards were presented to eight television shows considered by the Academy to be "television with a conscience."
"Whale Wars" was one of the eight shows honored along with "30 Days," produced by Morgan Spurlock.
The Award was presented to Animal Planet President Marjorie Kaplan by the legendary actress Tippi Hendron, who starred in the classic Alfred Hitchcock presentation "The Birds."
Academy chairman and CEO John Shaffner said the second annual ceremony highlighted TV's valuable contributions to society in a range of genres, including reality programs.
The Academy graciously provided vegan meals for Captain Watson and Kim McCoy.
"It is an honor for us to be a part of a program that is raising global awareness of the illegal killing of whales on the high seas," said Captain Watson. "Many of the Academy members told me that Whale Wars has a very good chance of winning an Emmy in September."
Season Two of Whale Wars begins on June 5th in the United States. Season One is presently airing in Latin America, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and will air soon across the rest of Europe starting May 9 on Animal Planet.
Last update: 6:25 a.m. EDT May 5, 2009 STRASBOURG, France, May 5, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Humane Society International congratulated the European Parliament for voting overwhelmingly in favour of a strong ban on trade in seal products. "Today's vote in the European Parliament marks a historic victory in the campaign to stop the commercial slaughter of seals around the world," said Mark Glover, director of Humane Society International/UK. "The European Union has acted on behalf of its citizens, and its decision will save millions of seals from a horrible fate." "The European Union has made history by ending its trade in seal products," said Rebecca Aldworth, director of Humane Society International/Canada. "This ban spells the beginning of the end of Canada's globally condemned seal slaughter." The Parliament voted for a strong Regulation that will eliminate the placing of seal products on the EU market, closing a primary market for Canada's commercial seal hunt. The Council and Commission have already agreed to the text, making Tuesday's plenary vote the final step in achieving the regulation. In light of the overwhelming vote in favour of the agreed upon regulation by the Parliament, the regulation will go into effect in 2010. The EU has been a primary market for the Canadian sealing industry, accounting for about one-third of reported seal skin exports. Globally, the EU accounts for one-quarter of the world trade in seal products. In recent years, 11 countries have banned their trade in seal products or announced their intentions to do so. They join the United States, which prohibited seal product trade in 1972.
Each year, over 100 million sharks are killed. In 2000, the United States enacted the Shark Finning Prohibition Act, a positive step towards protecting sharks. The intent of this law was to stop the practice of finning sharks, but finning still occurred through some technicalities.
The Shark Conservation Act of 2009 (S. 850) aims to end shark finning once and for all. The act would require sharks be landed with their fins attached, thus providing a true shark finning ban as was originally intended. This bill has already passed the House of Representatives and is awaiting action in the Senate.
There is still time to conserve sharks, but we need to act now.
Polar bears are feeling it. So is the small, rabbit-like pika. It’s global warming -- the biggest conservation challenge of our time. But for the last eight years, the Bush Administration has virtually ignored the problem as Arctic sea ice dwindles and temperatures rise.
With a new administration comes a new opportunity to tackle the impacts that global warming is having on our wildlife and wild places. Defenders’ new report Beyond Global Warming offers concrete recommendations for swift action to ensure our wildlife and wild places continue to survive in a warming world.
