Green Party, Jill Stein for Prez: Urgent: Midnight tonight, 10-17-12, 3:26 PM: Our last FEC deadline is at midnight tonight and every dollar will make a difference. After last night, it’s more clear than ever before -- we must show the establishment the mounting demand for a Green New Deal.

Can you pitch in $50-100 today?

https://jillstein.nationbuilder.com/donate?utm_campaign=fec_midnight&recruiter_id=55518&utm_medium=email&utm_source=jillstein

Our arrests at the Commission on Presidential Debates’ (CPD) event last night has gone completely viral but we need the resources to keep up. Most Americans are fed up with politics as usual and with your support we will get out the message that there is an alternative to the two establishment parties.

Please dig deep. This is our final FEC deadline before election night.

https://jillstein.nationbuilder.com/donate?utm_campaign=fec_midnight&recruiter_id=55518&utm_medium=email&utm_source=jillstein

It’s great to be back on the campaign trail and I am so moved by the wave of support we’ve received from every corner of the nation. None of this would be possible without you. Thank you.

~ Jill Stein

p.s. - A first-time donor has pledged to contribute up to $1000 in matching funds for anyone in Massachusetts who gives up to $200 (more than ten times any donation he’s made to a candidate before!). Please forward to anyone you know in the state.

Latest from Jill Stein: A few days ago, I let you know how our campaign is breaking through into the national debate (see below). Just hours after I finished writing that letter, the Washington Post printed an article revealing that our campaign has still not received 80% of the public financing we have earned. I want you to know that everything we've accomplished so far we have achieved despite this unfair obstacle. :

Tell Colbert, Maddow & Stewart that Jill Stein deserves air time, and to be in the debates!:

Sample email: Hello, as a viewer I greatly appreciate your shows, and watch you throughout the multi media industry, whenever possible. Jill Stein's presidential campaign is getting nothing, in terms of media coverage, compared to what Obama and Romney are getting; not surprisingly since they have enormous advertising budgets and since mainstream media is owned by the same corporations that own the two major parties- yet, you know this corporatist and oligarchic influence and control of the media is contrary to any and all democratic processes. For transparency, an educated polity, etc., the Green Party's message, and Jill Stein's presidential campaign, etc., should get more acceptance on your shows to ensure the citizens of the United States are given the opportunity to hear from a candidate who has real solutions for moving this country forward; as well as inclusion in the debates- i.m.h.o.. Thanx. Ciao, for now.

My latest twig of related poetree:

house of God, cards, idolatry

This vernal equinox's storms poignant past
Still lashing at the gash, can't undo the flourish
May day masked, evidencing nature's pause,
Diurnal flare, a pre-mother's day charge
To be done with care, madreporal.

Without which any mother's son wouldn't reef,
House, millions of lives wouldn't rise; saturnine.
Not forgetting, intellect can't lead, for, the life
doesn't follow, and, even though necessity is the
mother of invention, its father is the evolution.

While your sons think with spooned nose, speak,
With forked tongue, will, "we,...", be undone?
Though motherless, born of truth, weaned on
Nature's motherese, independents be, Satyagrahi.
Walkedabout, socratic, a motherland, beaconing.

As machinations of travailing winds, miraging,
Veil and mirror narcissistic nihilistic false-ego,
As self, rights, lefts, exercised, unwithering,
Leading to what, when, how, where, who, why,
Forever unanswered, we evince to be!

Copy, share, as you will. jmn

A Special Opportunity for Teachers:
I'm writing to announce a special opportunity for K-12 teachers from the Favorite Poem Project. If you're not a teacher, but would like to help us spread the word, please forward this email to an educator you know.

Former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, in cooperation with the Boston University School of Education, is accepting applications from teachers and teacher/administrator teams across grade level for a remarkable week of poetry in Boston, July 16-20. Participants will read and discuss poems with renowned practitioners of the art, five award-winning American poets. Past faculty include Frank Bidart, Mark Doty, Carl Phillips, Louise Glück and Heather McHugh. Teachers will work in groups to develop lesson plans to share with each other and bring back to their classrooms.

Visit the Favorite Poem Project website (link below) to learn more, or to request an application.

http://www.favoritepoem.org/forTeachers.html

Best wishes,

Maggie Dietz
Director, Favorite Poem Project

House passes CISPA: The House passed CISPA yesterday, and we want to make a splash as the focus shifts to the Senate.

More than 70,000 of you have emailed the Senate since yesterday, admonishing them to reject CISPA and protect our privacy and civil liberties.

If you haven't yet, please click here to email your Senators right away.

http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/cispa_passes/?akid=1332.388004.ux5vaf&rd=1&t=2

And please ask your friends to get involved right away.

Email to forward to your friends:

We pushed them to the brink, but House Republicans rammed through CISPA yesterday afternoon, ahead of schedule.

Let's make sure it dies in the Senate: Please click here to email your Senators right away.

Our hundreds of thousands of emails and tens of thousands of phone calls have had a real impact:

Amendments were adopted that made CISPA (marginally) better.
Earlier this month CISPA was supposed to sail through, but we helped foment real opposition, and the vote was far closer than anybody could have imagined even a couple of weeks ago.
Most Democrats held firm in opposition, and more than two dozen libertarian-leaning Republicans defied their leadership and vote no.
Most importantly, President Obama has threatened to veto CISPA.
The Senate will consider cyber security legislation in the coming weeks.  Let's turn up the heat right away:

Click here to tell the Senate to reject CISPA and any and all legislation that doesn't respect privacy and civil liberties.

Message of Hope and Continuity for the Sisterhood of the Guild:
Hello and Happy Spring to you!

I am grateful for the communication I have received from so many of you. Your candid remarks and thoughtful responses to questions we asked have proved to be very illuminating to me. The IWWG Board and I have listened to you, and because you wanted the Guild's activities--The Spring Big Apple and the Summer Conference--to continue, the Board voted unanimously to move forward with the planning and preparation of both activities. And now, here we are with only a few days away from this season's BIG APPLE CONFERENCE, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, April 14-15. We have also begun planning and organizing the Summer Conference at Yale (Friday-Tuesday, June 22-26)!!

I am delighted to announce that Marj Hahne, longtime Guild member and teacher, poet, and friend to so many of you, will bring her expertise and incredible integrity and focus to the Summer Conference planning. Marj has accepted my invitation to work as our Summer Conference Coordinator. We are working now to determine the new structure of our four-day conference. We ask that you save those dates (June 22-26) and watch for updates which will be coming shortly! We promise to send the details of costs, specific programs, and workshop directors very soon. Thanks for your patience.

We all share the vision to create and nurture an enlivening, enduring community of women writers. The MAGIC of the International Women's Writing Guild continues, thanks to all you incredible women.

We invite you to join us in continuing the magic at this weekend's Spring Big Apple, an incredible two days of three amazing speakers, a Meet and Pitch to the Agents, and an IWWG Members' Book Fair!

Warmly,
Cynthia

To the poet, the human community is like the community of birds to a bird, singing to each other. Love is one of the reasons we are singing to one another, love of language itself, love of sound, love of singing itself, and love of the other birds.
