Molly and Paddy the donkeys have gone to a good home-and now they have a pony, alpacas, calves, doves, cows, chickens, and two children to keep them company.
Napier, NZ residents, Judie and Mick Stones made an appeal in the local free weekly newspaper, for anyone who could provide the lovable quadrupeds a happy home. They needed the donkey paddock to make room for accomodation units and all they asked in exchange was that a donation be made to the local Medical Rescue helicopter.
"We were really surprised by the number of inquiries and people ringing with suggestions for what we could do with them. We had about 20 phone calls," Judie says.
In the end, the Stones, chose a lifestyle block out of Napier as the new home for the pair-funnily enough, owned by the man building their accommodation units.
Carl and Caron Wezel own a lifestyle block, and say the donkeys are attracting plenty of attention.
It's already become a common sight to see cars parked by the paddock, people are stopping to feed them apples or just giving them a pat. We love them," Caron says.

I am just a baby, can't you see,
All three foot of me.

I love to growl, and I love to play,
But most of all, I love to pose this way.

I am  a polar  bear, fierce and strong,
And if you mess with me, I'll hide behind my mom.

This is my baby polar bear rap, you see,
Next time, won't you rap with me?

Upon the mountain of the world
the snow leopard
she grew, she grew
sick with the hatred that
spread through the air.
The mountain once lush
knew naught but bareness
decrepid, decrepid
no more a land of beauty,
no more a land of love.

The leopard she climbed
to the roof of the world
and pleaded with sky
to help, to help.
"Please, Lady help us.
Please, we are dying."
The sky, the sky,
the gracious lady sky
opened her eyes, and
said, "I shall."

"Leopard, dear Leopard,
please take my smile and
share it with all
the children," said
the sky.
The leopard she took
the smile and it
spread, shards and
shards across
the land.

Deep blue smiles
for each child
the leopard brought love
and hope to the land.
Laughter and fruit
returned to the mountain
because hope
was never lost.

Glenn Beamsley of Napier, New Zealand, went out to catch some fish for his father's dinner, but found himself with bigger fish to fry after spotting a 15 metre humpback whale frolicking in the waters just a couple of kilometres off Napier last week.
The 49-year-old dental process worker took his brother Shane and nephew Adrian to an area known as the Northern Buoy, about 5 kms off the coast. However, neither luck nor fish seemed to be going their way, so about 3pm they stowed their meagre catch of gurnard and Glenn began pulling up the anchor. It was then that he saw a big splash!
"We shot over for a closer look," Glenn says.
Shane took the wheel while Glenn grabbed his camera and began firing off shots as fast as he could while the whale leapt in the air, dived and resurfaced around them. After about 20 minutes several other boats arrived on the scene and the whale began moving around.
Several children on a large yacht watched spellbound as the giant leapt out of the water and rolled on it's side, slapping it's flippers on the surface and splashing water on the children.

Picking blackberries in the early sun
I wish I could lift you as easily
as the soft fruit that falls into my fingers
from the briars that hold them
so that you drop, like them, into my hands

This is a tribute to a great man, and a great actor, who will be sadly missed, by his legion of fans, from all over the world! Charlton Heston, starred in so many great movies, even I couldn't keep up!  Two of my favourites were 'The Ten Commandments' and 'Ben Hur', and I don't think anyone will forget his part in the movie, 'Planet of the Apes'. He was an active supporter of Martin Luther King, and was always campaigning to seek equal rights, for all peoples. He was a loving father and husband, and one of the greatest actors of all time, starring alongside such Hollywood greats as Yul Brynner, Jack Lemmon, Cornell Wilde, and Deborah Kerr. He even starred in the movie, 'The Traitor' with his wife, Lydia. Charlton Heston was one of the best, his powerful voice resonating over the screen, making everyone amazed by the power, with which he could make a role, so believable! I, for one shall miss him! Thank you Charlton, for entertaining me and thousands of other people in your lifetime!!
