Name: Spotty The 3-year-old German Shepherd black, with some brown on his tail is wearing a silver choke chain That was the mantra around Gloucester City yesterday as an army of police officers and volunteers searched for Scotty, a police dog that went missing early Sunday. Since then, around 100 people have helped search for the 3-year-old German shepherd, according to Police Chief William G. Crothers. The dog's handler, Patrolman Steve Burkhardt, was out searching yesterday. State troopers scanned the area in a helicopter. Volunteers were combing the area Sunday. Scotty is black with a little brown in his tail. He was wearing a silver choke chain collar when he disappeared between 3:30 and 7:30 a.m. Sunday from Burkhardt's home, where the dog lives. Scotty usually stays in a kennel, but ice had broken through the kennel roof and the dog was outside in his handler's yard, which is surrounded by a six-foot fence. Somehow, the chief said, the dog scaled the fence and disappeared. If anyone finds a nice shepherd who answers to the name Scotty and thinks he'd make a good personal pet, consider the following: If you put a dog like Scotty in a car and then try to take him out, he may think he's going to work, which makes him aggressive. "He may react in an agitated manner," Crothers said.

Geraldine McCarthy
POLICE are appealing for help to trace a 21-year-old woman from Luton who has been missing for more than two weeks. Geraldine McCarthy, who is known to have acquaintances in the Bolton area had been visiting her sister in West Hendon on March 3 and had intended to travel home by train. But she has not been in contact with her family since then and they are becoming increasingly worried for her welfare. Police say they are also concerned for Geraldine. Although she has been reported missing before she has always contacted her family to let them know she is safe. Geraldine is white, 5ft tall and stocky with shoulder length curly dark brown hair and speaks with an Irish accent.
