Burma Democratic Concerns, UK http://www.bdcburma.org/ Burma’s Counter Offensive

mmnld2

With yet another bogus election planed in 2010 the Burmese people face yet more torment as a criminal and illegal regime paints a false face of democracy. Than Shwe and his band of criminals from both Burma and abroad are trying to make the world think the people of Burma want this election. The fact remains the duly elected leader of Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi has repeatedly stated these elections are not the will of the people and must be boycotted as all costs. Aung San Suu Kyi is being held in bondage as of this writing by the criminal Than Shwe.

In an effort to have a positive election next year Than Shwe has begun a systematic process of secret arrests and convictions of everyone who opposes his regime. From award winning laureates, entertainers, educators, students and people from all tribes within Burma are being taken to secret jungle prisons. Torture and rape of women are the main stay of this criminal regime. Teenagers are being tortured and placed in jail for 60 or more years for simply being at a pro democracy rally. Some people are being killed secretly while telling the families they died of natural causes.

The people of Burma oppose this election but their voices are silenced or they face the same consequences as those who’ve voiced their opinions. Only from clandestine messages from within Burma is the truth coming out. Refugees tell a much grimmer tale of death and survival at the hands of this criminal regime. Men women and children are being tortured and beaten while in prison for their opinion and having the courage to speak. And this is happening right now.

In an effort to educate the world about the true state of affairs within Burma the organizations around the world are launching a counter offensive in an effort to educate the world about their plight. Burma Democratic Concerns UK is asking for your help. Actors, singers and anyone who can produce videos and Pod-casts are needed for this world wide assault on tyranny. It is advisable that anyone interested contact Myo Thein at Burma Democratic Concerns so we can coordinate this concerted effort to save a Nation.

People from all countries are invited to join the growing numbers of human beings who want to make a difference and participate in this world wide effort. Contact them today and learn how you can make a difference. With a coordinated effort you will not only help in swaying the politics of the world but you will also let the people of Burma know the world has not forgotten them.

Free Burma, Free Aung San Suu Kyi

Pheonixradio Rising

I managed to  get myself involved in an independent online radio station called Pheonixradio. With pocket change, robbed piggy banks, rolls of Duct Tape and people with a vision on two continents we managed to create Pheonixradio. The sole purpose of this station is to air and promote unsigned, unlabeled, indie and unknown artists. From the Maori to the Macedonians and from the Celtic to the Cheyenne, we are on the air worldwide.

It's always been my contention that Native artists should not be place in some small restrictive corner. Our people should be mainstream and playing alone side other talented artists. How could we possibly hope to hit the big time and have a wide audience when we place ourselves in this artificially restrictive position? Why settle for less when there is a world filled with potential fans who would love to hear your tunes if only they heard you perform.

We have literally thousands of artists world wide including Native artists from all genres. From blues, rock, classical, Hip Hop and a myriad of different beats and of course traditional music as well. With affiliates around the world we give exposure on a grand scale that is sure to develop a fan base never before thought possible. No more do we have to settle for less since the world is at our finger tips. I thought it was bitchen since so many talented artists of all races never seem to have an equal playing field against the all powerful established recording companies. Artists don't have the freedom to follow their art since their contracts are very restrictive. I've talked with many entertainers who share this common complaint.

For my sins I have a show now. It airs on Friday and Saturday from 9pm to 12midnight (EST) I play smooth music from jazz to classical with a rich mix of Native and Non Native unsigned artists that surely are world class entertainers. And now I have the privilege of playing and promoting these fine entertainers on a grand scale, world wide. So drop on by and take a listen to or sign up for a world wide experience and expand your horizons. Let the world have a chance to hear your music, tell your jokes or do your thing since all genres are welcome.

THE METIS OF BLACK TICKLE, LABRADOR a culture under siege.

Why is it all to familiar the needs of Aboriginal people always take a back burner by the conquering people? Such is the case of this impoverished fishing village of about 250 residents. Predominantly Metis, they do not have clean and clear drinking water and no sewage system what so ever. They use “Honey buckets” for their personal needs and use other buckets to fetch drinking water from polluted wells that contain e-coli bacteria. Boy that sounds all to familiar since this is more common than not in Native enclaves across the America’s.

Is the Canadian government learning lessons in ambivalence from their neighbor to the south? Yea never know eh. But any hope for economical growth has been effectively silenced since Canada turned a deaf eat to their cries for autonomy and equality. They just wanted a small piece of the pie Canadian oil is bringing. If only they had a link to the Trans-Labrador Highway. If only they had a chance at the brass ring for its isolated location would make a wondrous tourist destination. And possibly they could have running clean water and flushing toilets. The kids who graduate high school would come back home after college.

The ambivalence of government officials is all too apparent to the residence in Black Tickle as Canada looks the other way. Many elderly residences say they have nowhere to go and are too old to relocate so they will most likely die unnoticed by the rest of the world. And another aboriginal community simply dies a slow and agonizing death. The governments excuse for not giving these people access to the Trans-Labrador Highway is because there is no infrastructure. Well as one local resident Livenda Keefe said, “How can we develop an infrastructure if we are not given a chance to make our way and find our place in the world, why can’t we have bed and breakfasts and tourism like Newfoundland and Labrador are promoting?” This is their home, this is where they come from and they don’t have anywhere else to go.

Like the Native’s of Alaska suffering the direct effects of global warming, the Canadian government is simply letting these people fend for themselves in the face of adversity. This is a primary fishing grounds with a rich bounty of sports fishing and crabbing. This had the makings of a great tourist industry if they were allowed access to this highway. Then there would be infrastructure since sports fisherman and tourists would come from all points of the globe to fish and play in this potentially fabulous community.

I would hate to think this is intentional like many of the residence believe. They said the government is slowly removing and vestige of hope and economical growth. They believe the government is slowly placing a strangle hold on this community so they will eventually move away.

If this was happening in the USA it would be obvious that this was intentional. Whence the impoverished people were finally gone then developers with the big bucks would open up the link to the trans-Labrador Highway and develop the hell out of Black Tickle and turn this once humble fishing village into a fabulous resort and possible make this a port of call for the luxury lines filled with big spending tourist.

Oh Canada, why are you allowing this to happen? Have you actually turned into the 51st State and are now following George W. Bush’s lead in embracing Corporations within the tourist industry at the expense of the people you are supposed to serve? It would be terrible to think this was actually a conspiracy.

Oh Canada, this story is going world wide and the eyes of the world are upon you.

And let it be known to the good people of Dark Tickle of all cultures,

We hear your pleas for help and you are not voiceless anymore.
