Posted in Asia with tags Burma 2010 Election, China, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Mecchadihtti Than Shwe, UN Sanctions, Xi Jinping on December 26, 2009 by buffalohair

The ball is still in General Than Shwe’s court when it comes to beginning the process of reconciliation. The steps required have been well documented and the terms were quite simple according to the “Shwe-Gone-Daing” declaration;

1. Release all political prisoners
2. Review the 2008 Constitution
3. Reopen NLD and ethnic nationalities offices
4. Recognize 1990 election result
5. Establish political dialogue

At the very minimum the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the political prisoners to establish a true dialogue would show that the junta was sincere. Anything short of this spells just another round of rhetoric and excuses from the regime. It would also mean the dialogue that has already transpired from world leaders was nothing more than feel good lip service buying critical time Than Shwe needed to pull off the bogus election in the first place. Is this all nothing but another elaborate scheme?

The notion the world is looking hopefully towards a positive outcome from the sham election indicates Than Shwe won the first critical battle in legitimizing his criminal regime. The world bought into the sham election, that is a given. In essence the world sided with Than Shwe in rejecting the will of the Burmese people by ignoring the election results of 1990, an election sponsored by Than Shwe yet not honored because he lost overwhelmingly.

The world as a whole has become enablers for a grotesquely barbaric criminal regime who continues to murder and rape its own citizens. With good reason since the world has blood on their hands as well. With major nations of the free would still vested in Burma the notion sanctions had a chance to succeed is simply preposterous. The United Nations has proven to be hopelessly corrupt with its merry band of thugs who pander to the whims of the World Trade Organization and Than Shwe. Ban Ki-moon and his Korean connection boasts about sanctions and types up letters of disdain yet his Korean business associates continue to prosper on the backs of an enslaved nation.

On a positive note *China did step up to the plate since China’s Vice President Xi Jinping was quoted telling Than Shwe China wanted “  political stability, economic development and national reconciliation”. Further VP Xi Jinping stated;

“China believes the Myanmar side would settle the relevant problems through peaceful ways such as dialogues and consultation so as to guarantee the stability in its border area with China,”

That would be real spiffy if China is sincere. Has China become an enabler for Than Shwe with critical lip service designed to show face to a world of consumers? After all, China’s Achilles Tendon is the international consumer for without them their economy would surely falter sending China spiraling downward. Their economy is much frailer than they allude to and internal strife is at the red dragon’s door step. China is also turning into a desert from mismanagement of its soil, another Achilles Tendon? With the consuming world more aware of China’s human rights violations their continued support for a wholesale butcher would be unlikely. China has become codependent and any disruption in commerce would be devastating.

The average consumer has become isolated from their leadership in a world that has begun colonizing via Globalization. Greed prevails where humanity once stood as profiteers find ways to skirt sanctions in Burma but it is still the consumer who holds the weapon of economic mass destruction, the all mighty dollar. As citizens of the world connect the dots and identify the common enemy, corrupt politicians, China will undoubtedly be in the crosshairs as well since jobs and industries were handed to China by these politicos to the chagrin of the consumers around the planet. The end result will be sanctions imposed by the consuming public crippling China’s once bustling economy since governments have done nothing. Awareness of China’s total disregard for human rights is growing at a lightening pace. Burma and Than Shwe inadvertently placed China and her secrets under the microscope for all to see and discern. If China were to broker true reconciliation and dialogue in earnest this would ease some of the pressure from the purchasing public. If China is playing a charade to assist Than Shwe the price will be paid at the check out counter, were the true economical battle is being fought. Just remember that every dollar not spent on Chinese goods by individuals will make a difference. This axiom will work on international corporations who also leech off the public.

With commercial properties pending foreclosure around the world the dynamic of this financial disaster will far out shadow the mortgage crisis, there is no question. The next financial disaster is looming just around the corner and this will be China’s death nil since it will be easy to write Chinese goods off for a host of valid reason. Burma will just be the last straw. If all the facts were known, China has caused great harm to Indigenous populations around the globe as it is. Thanks to Than Shwe China has become vulnerable since he opened the flood gates of public opinion and this will surely have negatively effect in China’s cash flow.

Small wonder VP Xi Jinping smacked Than Shwe up side the head and told him to get his act together. There is more at stake than Than Shwe’s xenophobic ego. Than Shwe’s actions will directly affect China’s booming yet frail economy. I’ve already excluded over $500 in Chinese and select Korean goods in one month. And it was not hard since I bought better quality merchandise though a bit more spendy but you get what you pay for eh. Others are following suite and soon there will be more as People Power Sanctions snowballs around the globe. Its all about the money and it is time to fight fire with fire. If China is not careful their goods will rot on shelves in every store on the Earth. And China will have General Than Shwe to thank for the notoriety.

Monitoring the Falun Gong HumanRights Crisis in China

China Opinion

As we continue to pretend China has evolved from its brutal past atrocities continue with greater zeal than ever before. Slave labor within China’s elaborate Gulag program has made China an economic giant. This racers edge makes it all but impossible for other nations and industries to compete since slave labor is illegal for the most part. With slaves at the helm it’s no surprise China’s good’s continue to have quality issues such as date rape drugs in children’s toys, defective drywall that has already made hundreds of thousands of homes in the US defective and unlivable. But it’s all about the money and corporate interests who’ve continued to import these bogus products  and continue to get fabulously wealthy at the expense of US citizens. China is not held accountable like the rest of the world and we continue to allow for their flawed goods to enter this country.

But what is shameful is the fact the free world continues to pander to this criminal regime while millions of her own citizens are tortured, raped and used for body parts. US and other industries have allied themselves with tyranny and wholesale genocide for the corporate bottom line. Sadly this makes the consumer a party to murder and rape as we continue to buy goods made from the blood of innocent people. We, the free world, have become the enemy of humanity in favor of the corporate bottom line and discount prices from China. Small wonder the world is thrust into economical chaos.

The Falun Gong sect along with Christians are subjegated continually enduring false imprisonment, torture, rape and forced disection for human body part “donations”.  The mainstream media all but ignored the atrocities and human rights violations with this reprehensible and barbaric regime since their parent companies are deply invested in all that is wrong with China. And we the people let it happen.

10 Nov 2009 News from Inside China News from outside China FDIC: Mr. Huang Lizhong Tortured to Death in Panjin City Prison
Oct 29: Mr. Huang Lizhong was arrested on February 25, 2008 at his home. He was subsequently sentenced in a show-trial to nine years in prison by the Lianshan District Court, and in September 2008 was taken to Panjin City Prison. On April 20, 2009, a guard named Wang Jianjun shocked Mr. Huang extensively with electric batons to the point that his internal organs were damaged.
At around 2 p.m. on October 20, 2009, Mr. Huang was helped into the visitation room by another prisoner to see his wife. Mrs. Huang hardly recognized him. His face looked very dry, he was as thin as a skeleton, his teeth were deformed, he had no energy to talk, and his whole body shivered. Over a period of only five months, Mr. Huang, a perfectly healthy 47-year-old had his physical condition deteriorate significantly. Only five days later, at 9:30 p.m. on October 25, 2009, the prison authorities notified Mrs. Huang that Mr. Huang Lizhong had died in custody. For the full case details, see: http://faluninfo.net/article/922/?cid=6 NTDTV: Shanghai Falun Gong Practitioner Sues Police for Torture
Oct 28: “Plain-clothed police from the Shanghai Cangning Bureau of Public Security kidnapped 39-year-old Zhang Ying on September 8th outside her home. Her mother says Zhang was taken away because she practices Falun Gong.
[Ms. Cu, Zhang Ying’s Mother]  : ‘The police illegally arrested her and beat her. Zhang Ying was hung up and beaten by three people until she fainted. Now we can’t see her. It’s been over a month, nearly two months now…. We can’t even fall sleep at night.’ [Zhang Chuanli, Zhang Ying’s Lawyer]  : ‘Around September 22, at the Shanghai Prison Hospital where I saw Zhang Ying, she needed people to help her walk. She could not walk by herself and was extremely weak. She said police tortured her to get a confession, so now I’ve filed a law suit on her behalf.’” To view the full story, see: http://english.ntdtv.com/ntdtv_en/ns_china/2009-10-28/153176823490.html The Washington Times: Chinese lawyers want Obama to push for Beijing rights

Mr. Jiang , for example, has been placed several times under house arrest and lost his license to practice law in June. ‘I defended more than 20 cases involving Falun Gong practitioners,’ he said… ‘Physical torture was quite common. After their arrest, they were often beaten to the point of being paralyzed or . Nov 3: “On behalf of Amnesty International USA, I urge you to candidly address grave human rights concerns in the People’s Republic of China during your upcoming first official visit to China and press the President of China to make substantive improvements…
The scale of China’s human rights violations is staggering…. Thousands are suffering from brutal religious persecution and political repression. Religious persecution has led to the detention and repression of thousands of Tibetans, Uighurs, “unofficial church” members, and Falun Gong practitioners… I further request that you establish the following benchmarks to assess improvements : … A lifting of all restrictions and obstacles to freedom of worship. Thousands are detained for their religious activities. Sincerely,

The Government also continued to restrict severely the activities of groups…including several Christian groups and Falun Gong…. There were widespread reports that employers, both Chinese and foreign, were discouraged from hiring members of Falun Gong.
Overseas Falun Gong organizations alleged a surge in arrests and deaths of Falun Gong practitioners… In April 2009, Zhang Xingwu, a retired physics professor from Shandong Province, was sentenced to seven years in prison after police found Falun Gong literature in his apartment. In November 2009, a Shanghai court sentenced Liu Jin to three and a half years in prison for downloading from the Internet and distributing to others information about Falun Gong. In December 2009, Bu Dongwei left the country after serving two and a half years at a re-education through labor facility; he maintained that he was tortured because of his Falun Gong activities. Before his arrest, he worked for The Asia Foundation, a U.S.-based organization. On August 8, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Cao Changling disappeared while riding his bicycle. Two days later, his family was summoned to the Tenth Wuhan City Hospital, where they found him unconscious, with broken bones and bruises. Cao died on August 15 without regaining consciousness; his family maintained that the circumstances of the death were suspicious. On January 26, 2008, Beijing police stopped musician Yu Zhou and his wife, poet Xu Na, for speeding. Police found Falun Gong materials in their car and detained the couple. Yu died in custody 11 days later. He was reportedly tortured; police refused to allow an autopsy. His wife was sentenced to three years in prison. Taipei Times: “Activists Call for Release of Falun Gong Practitioners”
Nov 5: “A number of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP  ) legislators, human rights activists and family members of two Falun Gong practitioners yesterday urged China to release the pair ahead of the fourth round of cross-strait talks.
At a press conference at the legislature, DPP Legislator Tien Chiu-chin said the two practitioners — 63-year-old Li Yaohua (李燿華  ) and her daughter Zhang Yibo (張軼博  ) — were arrested by police at their residence in Shanghai without any warrant in the middle of the night on June 4 because they distributed 30 Falun Gong flyers to their neighbors’ mailboxes. Tien said Li, a Hong Kong citizen whose father is a Taiwanese national, and Zhang, a Chinese national, had been detained for more than five months without bail even though Li had been suffering from a chronic illness. Li’s son Zhang Yi-yuan said government agencies in Taiwan, including the Ministry of Justice and the Mainland Affairs Council, had sent letters to their Chinese counterparts urging the Chinese authorities to allow family members to visit Li and Zhang Yibo, but to no avail. Pan said the DPP is also considering launching a legislative proposal to ban Chinese officials suspected of having persecuted Falun Gong practitioners from entering Taiwan.” To read more: http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2009/11/05/2003457689

Obama Passes on Dalai Lama Visit

Posted in Asia with tags Barack Obama, China, Dalai Lama, Tibet on October 5, 2009 by buffalohair

Lama Obama copy President Barack Obama passes on a visit with the Dalai Lama outraging many human rights supporters around the world. Interestingly enough in the *Dalai Lama Camp they are not as miffed, in fact they welcome the warming of U.S. China relations. Top aid and negotiator for the Dalai Lama, Lodi Gyari defended Obama’s “snub” and embraced this action noting that the Dali Lama was always supportive of U.S. engagement with China.

According to Gyari the Tibetan people took a “broader long-term perspective” on this turn of events. In a statement Gyari said;

“Our hope is that the cooperative US-Chinese relationship that President Obama’s administration seeks will create conditions that support the resolution of the legitimate grievances of the Tibetan people,”

With all that said it would behoove others not to second guess the Dalai Lama since it is clear President Obama has his blessings. It would appear the Dalai Lama is looking at the bigger picture in establishing a qualitative and productive dialogue with China. Open discussing rather than pointed barbs does yield better results where showing face is an equal part of any negotiations in Asia. Does President Obama get a “  pass” on this issue? No, on the contrary this places Obama under the microscope of worldwide public opinion since now there are billions of witnesses.

Outrage, disappointment and anger prevail throughout the globe by this “snub” and have placed the US president on the same level as pond scum with many ardent human rights activists and Dalai Lama supporters. The ramifications of this action have rippled throughout the diplomatic communities around the world as well, especially nations who’ve already engaged his holiness the Dalai Lama. More hinges on what transpires on Obama’s visit to China then he may realize for his credibility is at stake. And if Obama can pull off a positive Tibetan solution he will stop the downward spiral of his popularity. If this visit is all about money the downward plunge will continue with a vengeance as he alienates more of his core supporters.

Like they say, “the opera ain’t over till the fat lady sings”. Whether I agree with this latest presidential action or not is of no consequence since it is still the Dalai Lama’s call. His camp has embraced this engagement with China with promise and great hopes for the future. I look at this turn of events with great skepticism but I will follow the Dalai Lama’s lead and bite a hole in my tongue. I will not hold my breath though. And I pray that my gut feeling on this turn of events is nothing more than gas.

More Dark Secrets from China

Posted in Asia with tags China, Falun Gong, Racism, Uyghur People, Xingjiang Riots on July 7, 2009 by buffalohair

Hillary and Ugyhur

Predictably China is coming loose at the seams these days. It would appear they are having trouble silencing the Uyghur people in Xingjiang. Racism is the key issue since China has treated them like second class citizens. Accounts of being forced to work for poor pay and horrific working conditions has circulated for years. During a peaceful demonstration the paranoid Chinese government took drastic measures killing scores of innocent people and arresting thousands. The death toll is rising as the mounting violence continues. Sadly the government has given Chinese civilians a green light to harass this persecuted ethnic group.

What will be interesting to see are the international corporations who’ve capitalized on these people. China already has a dismal track record with their Gulag System or slave labor camps. The Falun Gong sect has been targeted for years with harsh and inhuman treatment. Members have been tortured to death, forced into slave labor camps and ultimately used like cattle in the organ transplant industry. This has proven to be a goldmine for the corporations that relocated to China. Small wonder Walmart and other corporate turn coats are profiteering in China. How could anyone else compete with no labor laws and an endless supply of slave labor? Bill Clinton’s “Favored Nation Status” has really given China the racers edge for sure. Maybe Hillary will “hurt” her other elbow so she does not have to address this issue either. That would be “   provocative” of her.

You really have to thank Gen. Than Shwe of Burma and Kim Jong II of North Korea for giving Asia the proper attention it needed though. Now we can appreciate China’s dark secrets and possibly focus on the international corporations who capitalize on slave labor. Chances are these corporations will also be involved in other acts of tyranny around the world as well. Notorious for padding the pockets of tin horn dictators throughout Africa and South America, corporations have been the root cause of wars and civil unrest in the third world for years. Now they are coming to a country near you. Small wonder China did not want to impose any sanctions on Burma, they were as guilty as Than Shwe for the wholesale murder of ethnic minorities, the Uyghur people being one of them.

But it’s not over for China by a long shot. I saw this one coming and I see other groups readying their assault. Wonder how these international corporate executives would feel knowing they are in mortal danger from the very people they’ve enslaved and allowed China to torture. They may have hid all this from the US press but there are millions of witnesses to the atrocities they have committed. China will undoubtedly lower the boom on these Uyghur demonstrators but others will soon be popping up. The cat is out of the bag though and China will be under the microscope like Burma is. Compound the fact natural disaster will soon paint a different financial picture on China’s corporate bottom line and China’s future looks dismal at best. Maybe Chinese officials are using the same astrologer as Than Shwe.

The Xingjiang riots themselves show China’s racial bias if anyone was paying attention. When the Uyghur people were peacefully demonstrating the Chinese government killed scores of them while making mass arrests. But when the Han Chinese, armed with bats, lead pipes and shovels marched down the Uyghur district towards a mosque beating people and destroying shops the Chinese military only pleaded with them to cease and desist. It’s an old fashioned race riot and it’s only the beginning since China will soon be powerless to stop them. Racial inequities prevail throughout China. Soon it will not be safe for any foreign investors. Just so we get those discount prices is all that matter anyway.
