She has had congestive heart failure for a while now, but she has been diagnosed with cancer.  She had breast cancer before, but now she has it again & it's spreading into her bones.  I don't blame her for refusing chemo, radiation, & to move to a nursing home.  She's very independent & will not sit on her ass (like my mom) LOL!  She also will not let you know how much pain she is really in. As her brother (my grandfather) calls her, she IS a "tough old bird".  My mom (who is also the executrix of her will) is currently at her house helping her out (she lives in PA, which is a bit far from us & she refuses to move in with anyone).  She also has nurses coming in. I just wish I met her sooner.  I didn't meet her until my grandmother's wake & funeral in 1998 (we stayed over her house, because my grandmother's plot is in PA).  She's such a great lady, with a great sense of humor! Please pray for her & send her healing light & positive energy.  This situation does not look good-I know her wish is to die with some dignity.  It would be great if you lit a candle for her...she always did that for me & my family (we joke around with her that she has gypsy magic or something, because everytime she lit a candle, her prayer came true). Thank you so much! Peace & Love,
Denise

Sorry for such a late update!

Brandy is a very sweet girl that listens very well!  She's a Shepherd mix & I think she also is part Great Dane.  She's huge!  She's 90 lbs (about 15lbs. overweight-the areas that the shelter is in has a law that requires you to keep the dog food bowls filled all the time-which I think is kind of cruel too.  The poor girl has arthritic front legs & was doomed to a cage, cement, & barely any exercise) & gets along very well with Kali (except at 1st, she was trying to dominate by humping her, which we weren't gonna let happen since she'd crush my 50-lb. Kali).  Most importantly, she loves my grandfather...Kali is afraid of men,so she doesn't dig Pop too much.

Last week she started coughing, which really freaked us out.  She sounded like Dudley when he got congestive heart failure.  The vet said that it looks like an upper-respiratory infection & that we were to separate her from Kali, wsh their toys, etc. until everything clears up.  So far she hasn't coughed too much (just some huffing) since she has been put on meds.  I feel so bad keeping them separated because they give me these looks like "Why am I punished?" (especially Brandy).  I just hope she gets better & that Kali didn't get the bug already, so they can play together again & Brandy can get her shots.  They've been delayed because of her sickness, so that also means no license & no groomers (ugh, she smells like the most pungent cheese-poor girl can't help it).  She's too big & arthritic to bathe in our tub & it's still too chilly outside to bathe her in our backyard.

She's so much like Dudley, personality-wise...she even makes sounds like him...it would rally kill me to see another dog go through what Dud went through.  Things are looking up, but it's still a worry in my family & it's a major possibility for Brandy (as the vet said at her first visit).  And my grandfather is really attached to her...one night he said "Please don't go on me yeat, Brandy"...it ripped me apart.  he also said, when we 1st got her, "We're gonna grow old together, right, Brandy?"

Please pray that she gets better soon & that she definitely does not have congestive heart failure.  It would kill us to have her 2nd chance end in such pain...we only had her for a little over a week.  She was stuck in the shelter for almost a year because she was part of an SPCA case, where the previous owner wanted her back.  Thank God he didn't get what he wanted-that a**hole neglected her in his garage!  She deserves a really great 2nd chance & we want to be able to give that to her.

Thank you from me & my family (including the furbabies)!

Peace & Love,
Denise

Ever since I saw that horrific pic of the bricks pelting ''Windstar'' the beautiful white horse, I can't get it out of my mind. To think a group of people--or maybe it was an individual!--would actually do something like that totally blows my min...
