No One Is Illegal- Toronto: SUMMER YOUTH LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

No One Is Illegal-Toronto is a group of immigrants, refugees, trade unionists and allies who fight for the rights of all migrants to live with dignity and respect. We oppose Canada?s elitist immigration and citizenship policies that discriminate against communities of colour and poor and working people. We fight against all policies that put corporate greed and political interests above people?s humanitarian needs. At the same time, we recognize that Canada?s immigration system is part of the same colonial system that has stolen this land from indigenous peoples.

We are hiring eight immigrant, refugee, non-status and Aboriginal youth to participate in a youth leadership program. The program requires a full time commitment of 40 hours per week in the summer months and 1 day per week in September and October.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must identify as an immigrant, refugee, non-status or Aboriginal youth
- Ability to work on-call

ASSETS:
- Second language (Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic,
Malayalam, Portuguese, Patois, Farsi, or others)
- Experience organising in new immigrant and refugee communities
- Demonstrated knowledge of immigration issues and experience
working with grassroots community groups
- Experience organising and/or participating in pickets, rallies
and demonstrations
- Community advocacy skills
- Ability to network with diverse community groups, organizations
and trade unions

Honorarium: $400/week
Hours Required: Approximately 40 hrs/ week
