In a span of ten days, over 550 dead penguins have washed up on Brazilian beaches. And scientists still don’t know why.

Autopsies suggest the penguins may have starved to death because their stomachs were empty. Then again, strong currents and colder temperatures may be to blame. It could be pollution causing the deaths. Or maybe overfishing is the culprit …

Overfishing needs to be addressed NOW. Humans simply waste too much food and encroach on too much habitat making survival of these beautiful animals difficult, if not impossible. Governments please take note and enact tougher guidelines before it's too late.

Amen Ann P. I totally agree and I also believe there's alot more oil spills happening than we're aware of, that big oil has been allowed to "run rogue" to quote a certain Alaskan bimbo and this whole planet is totally fucked.....it's just a matter of time.......... and it's gonna be a long, slow death.

I have a feeling they already know what went wrong, and just don't want the blame to be able to be pegged where it goes. We definately are destructive to our planet, but I suspect the oil spill is much more far reaching than they like to claim, especially since everything in nature is an extension. There are very possibly currents that took the oil effects further, causong ocean life to suffer in other areas, causing the penguins more issues than they already face. Our current ppl in office are big on shushing everything that goes on, and giving watered down answers to issues...I believe the oil spill was an added stress that directly caused this death poll.

I sincerely regret it. I think penguins are extraordinary birds. They fly, they swim, they hatch, they travel for months to reproduce and to survive. Beautiful!
