8 Rich Jerks Who Want Your Love and Respect

  • 2 of 2

5. “The millionaires and billionaires who choose to invest in Australia are actually those who most help the poor and our young. This secret needs to be spread widely.”

- Gina Rinehart, the world’s richest woman, finally reveals the “secret” that rich people are actually the most generous. She also reveals the secret to becoming rich: “If you’re jealous of those with more money, don’t just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself – spend less time drinking or smoking and socializing, and more time working.” Notably, Rinehart worked very hard for her large fortune: she inherited it.

6. “I think this notion that it’s the population of the U.S. against the big companies is just wrong. It’s just wrong-minded and when I walk through a factory with you or anybody, you know, our employees basically like us. The root for us, they want us to win. I don’t know why you don’t… I want you to say, ‘Win, G.E.!’”

- Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of General Electrics, wishes the people would cheer support at his company rather than deriding it. Why can’t we be more like his own employees who “basically” like him?

7. “I could slit my wrists and people would cheer.”

Goldman Sachs executive Lloyd Blankfein believes it’s unfair that people hate him for hoarding wealth. When asked why he and fellow Wall street execs shouldn’t have their salaries capped, he claimed they were “doing God’s work.” After all, how can you criticize a man who is doing the work of God?

8. “The richest Americans may not ‘need’ a break on their taxes, but they sure don’t need being vilified, either. They need our gratitude. So let’s get busy on that shiny monument [for rich people] in our nation’s capital. And let’s get some unemployed people out there building it. It’s the least they can do for those nice rich people who have been keeping them afloat.”

- Wealthy conservative pundit Bernard Goldberg wants America to be more grateful for rich people, starting with a physical monument. His article would probably read as tongue-in-cheek if it weren’t in line with his politics.

Poor rich people. All of the money in the world isn’t going to buy them the adoration they crave.

I believe that Respect has to be Earned, not inherited...not gained by illegal activites, such as bilking people out of their hard earned money...not having been paid over inflated salaries gotten from not providing basic medical for their employees, not gotten by underpaying employees...then there's the over inflated ego of Jay Z, so very glad I don't contribute to his millions by buying anything that would remotely get back to him as profits.

Sorry, but don't have money to rent, let alone buy, any violins to play, no tears to shed, for these egocentric, windbags (can't used censored words here). Too bad they won't spend week in a women's shelter, in a soup kitchen, at an animal rescue center, out on the Sea Shepard watching the Japanese slaughter whales and sharks, at a food shelf handing out food, delivering meals on Wheels to the elderly and disabled, eating food only bought with SNAP for a week...know I missed a few here, but you get the idea. These people and others in the 1% are so out of reality when it come to how the 99% are forced to live - and they like it that way.

Jamie Dimon, ygbfkm?? This is the guy who is responsible for the biggest white-collar crime in human history. We should never hear anything from him, ever. He is lucky he's not in Federal prison, or hanging from a sign on 5th Ave. He should not even complain about a pimple on his ass, not even a whimper, not if he's dying of cancer.

He is walking free and he still has hundreds of millions of dollars that belong to investors and employees.

Maybe not on this site, but in reality this is a pretty thin slice of the worlds population.

Poor guys...

History will not look all that kindly on Barack Obama. He had a chance to cut these people back down to size, and he didn't take it. Had he stripped these people of their wealth and imprisoned some of them, there would be no Tea Party. Doing it strictly through violations of security and banking law would have been next to impossible; these people cover their asses beautifully, but the Patriot Act was twisted to send Martha Stewart to jail, and I'm sure it could have been made to work in some fashion for most of the people on this list. What they have done was definitely unpatriotic.

Ah, yes, and all the employees doing 99.9% of the work for these jerks have nothing to do with their success. . .
