Cat Survives Kicks to the Face
posted by: Aimee Gertsch 79 days ago

The ASPCA special agents do wonderful work. They have to deal with incredible cruelty, with the hopes of bringing those who abuse animals to justice. Earlier this month, a cat survived repeated kicks to the face with a steel-toed boot.
ASPCA Special Agent Adam Gankiewicz arrested the suspect and charged him with felony animal cruelty. The cat belonged to the suspects mother. Meow, was found by her owner hiding under the son's bed, with her face in terrible shape. The woman confronted her son, who laughed before finally admitting what he had done.
Meow was taken to the ASPCA Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital, where she was treated for injuries, and where her eye had to be removed. Meow returned home where she is now recuperating. The suspect now has a restraining order against him and is facing trail. If convicted he could face up to two years in jail and a $2000 fine. It hardly seems enough for such a crime.
Stacy Wolf, Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel for ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement, said “Inflicting such severe injury on a helpless cat signals the potential for violence directed at other vulnerable victims, including human family members. Serious criminal sanctions are a vital tool in the fight against these vicious crimes.”
It is very important to report animal cruelty. To report animal cruelty in New York City, call the ASPCA’s tip line at (877) THE-ASPCA, and in other cities please visit the ASPCA website.

This person is a creep. Abusing a animal what a toughie!!! I would love to see this person in jail (like Alan S) witha pet-friendly con and get the same treatment.
But then after thinking about it any form of abuse is evil. People must be given harser penatlies and jail. Education is the key. I have a 16 month old and he started to think it was ok to throw things at our cat and dog, he knows that this is not ok and he is shown daily how to interact with our buddies. It has stopped now.

I am completly appalled by such behaviour. Just can't understand how how a person can do such atrocious things to an annimal, to any living being. A Human will probably be the next to suffer under this dispicable persons boots or hands, probably a child who also cant retaliate. I am against violence, but when I read such things, my gall boils and I would really like to make in dent in this guy.I am just too shaken up for words, and these types of behaviour can be read every day somewhere. I agree with Alan S and Dian W, a hard Sentance in Jail and perhaps getting showed what its like to be on the recieving side for a change - I taught my children love and kindness, what was right and wrong, respect, manners and many other things that dont seem to count nowdays. I am proud of my children, how they have grown up. Nobody s perfect, least of all us. We never had much, and we didnt have it easy, but my lads, were, and always have been decent. They would never abuse anything or anyone. There is so much wrong in this world. It makes me cry and cry and cry, such atrocites............

What this guy did is so terrible. I don't understand, nor do I think I will ever be able to, how anyone can inflict this kind of cruelty. It is beyond me to even imagine how some monster could hurt an animal in such a vicious manner. I just don't understand these people. It almost makes me want to pity them to think what must be going on in their heads to justify their actions.

ble women. Cruelty is inherent in human nature and we have to be educated out of it. Most cultures do their best but there will always be poorly socialised people, either through nature or nurture, who fail to socialise and develop minimum levels of empathy and compassion.
The only remedy is the maximum levels of sanctions against animal abusers. The harsher the better. The effect of this will be not to eliminate animal cruelty but to deter, and thereby to keep levels of abuse down as low as possible. Animal abusers have no conscience by definition and some may well attack people as well if they think they can get away with it. There is no room in a compassionate society for lack of firmness. A compassionate society deals firmly with offenders, in order to ensure that compassion is not sidelined in society.

I think when a mean person is an adult, it´s nothing to do, except if there are laws wich protect and defend the animals. BUT we can change the future if we TEACH CHILDREN to love, care the animals and teach them to respect all animals from that age.

This is the main reason that my friend Camille Marino & I have put up a petition to add Humane Education into the schools` curriculums, it`s called "Florida State Humane Education Curriculum" & it`s on this site if anyone would like to see it.
Humane education is actually mandatory in several states, but schools aren`t adhearing to it.
It`s not fair to the animals or the kids.
Children need to learn from an early age how to respect all life or these kind of acts will just likely continue

So much anger within all of us. I've always found our justice system to be laughable when we say the punishment for killing someone is we will kill you! And we scream for retribution for the kitten, but how many of us are actively involved in creating affordable spaying and neutering, or would call if we saw our neighbor/or family member being cruel to an animal, or help educate people about puppy mills and pet shop animals? Rather than waste time and effort on a 33 yr old still living at home with a mom who is probably terrified of him, how about watching your elderly neighbors to see if they are dealing with abuse and DOING something to help them - and their pets? It's time for a change of attitude and it starts with each of us in our own universe.

He is NOT a kid. He is 33 yrs old and still lives at home... must have been bored!
I agree with Debbie Young and Andrea S.
Previously, I would have agreed with Ott D; however, NO MORE! You cannot cut any slack for sleezeballs like this.
MAX TIME in a MAX Security Prison in the same cell with "Bubba, the ANimal Lover" and there is NOT enough money for the amt of the fine. I am OK with putting this HUMAN down. THIS WOULD SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE.
Until you get STIFF sentences with HUGE fines, this type of behavior will continue!
