Are the Republicans Poised To Take the Senate in 2012?

60 comments Are the Republicans Poised To Take the Senate in 2012?

In a recent fundraising beg to fellow democrats, Vice President Joe Biden invokes a frightening image — that of a Senate majority lost to the Republican Party.

Via The Hill:

Vice President Joe Biden sought campaign cash for Senate Democrats on Tuesday by reminding supporters of how close Republicans are to winning a majority in 2012.

Biden, in an e-mail on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, noted the 23 seats Senate Democrats must defend in 2012, sought donations ahead of the end-of-March fundraising deadline.

“Democrats are defending 23 seats in 2012, five of which are open. Republicans only need to pick up four to take control of the Senate,” Biden wrote in a fundraising e-mail.

The vice president called the Senate the “firewall” for Democrats against Republican inroads and called the 2012 Senate elections “the toughest electoral climate we’ve seen in a long time.”

Is it just the usual rallying of the troops that people always do to raise funds (after all, who ever said “It’s cool, we’ve got this” in a fundraising plea) or is the Senate really in danger of flipping over?  With so many open seats happening in 2012, it’s no doubt both sides see majority momentum on their side.  In the end, the real deal maker will be who’s presidential candidate has the best coat tails.

1. 2010 mid-term changed one house; perhaps 2012 would be another one. Obama administration or the democratic party did something good but not enough on the core problem. Instead to fix the real Wall Street issue and unemployment issue, they build another entitlement. This is not very wise decision, perhaps, it is the party due not the public due agenda. Don’t get me wrong, national health case is good but this current way. The election will tell the truth. The Public sometime seams fool or manipulated by two groups of smart people, but at the end the voters would be able figure out…However never trust any party or people, we don’t need politicians but an individual who could lead the nation – someone a step closer to John F. Kennedy – a sinner but faithful to this nation.

I really hope this will not happen. And I'm not even living in US.

The Regressives have become masters at stealing elections, so it could happen. Keep an eye on Karl Rove.

US is so stupid it would elect these lying, ignoramuses.

The Tea Party Republicans can be poised all they want.
If I wasn't fully convinced a month ago, that the Democrats would be successful in 2012, it is incontrovertible, now.

The GOP is the party, _that just keeps giving_.
Their egocentrism is 'doing them in'. They became too cocky and over-played their hands.
Now, they will pay the price.

The Republican'ts can't run on the merits of their ideas, certainly not their accomplishments so far in the House. From the constant refrains of pre-election king-size issues such as jobs, the budget, and TARP, they now sing the teeny chump change tunes of DOMA, NPR and Planned Parenthood. To me, this is a tacit admission that they have NO credible plan or ability to create jobs, stop outsourcing, fix our roads, et al. Everything is a giveaway to their patrons, even if it means the public's food, air and water are more tainted through unfunded, negligent regulation.
In '12 they will once again rely on the Hail to the Doofus Rove-and-Beck Republican't fascist-o-tron smears-and-lies machine that generates cold bull but spurs just enough red voters to believe it's gold bullion. It's not about making America better, it's just about them duping enough populi to vote against their own interests in the bait-and-switch game of doing America a favor by sticking it to the black guy in the White House. Save America, all you people: see red but vote blue.

Sending a Green Star is a simple way to say "Thank you".

You cannot currently send a star to James J because you have done so within the last week.

It will all come down to who votes and those who will vote will be those with the most to lose; the 40% of the country that's living off the other 60%. Thanks, Obama.

The current crop of Republican politicians are psychopathic, marching to the Koch Bros., big oil’s, Healthcare “Insurer’s” Fascist agenda. They covet possessions and power, they gain special pleasure in usurping and taking from others; what they can plagiarize, swindle, and extort are fruits far sweeter than those they can earn through honest labor.
