The Coalition for Equal Marriage has released a video designed to support the push for marriage equality in Britain.
Watch the video, entitled Homecoming, below:
“One day I would like to marry my partner of almost 5 years. And the celebration of our commitment should mean no more or less than any other straight couple. I made the film to promote change and also inspire others to use their creativity to support equality.”
The Coalition for Equal Marriage is a grassroots response to an organized and religious conservative-backed opposition group determined to derail the British Government’s push to legalize marriage equality.
Currently, there is an ongoing Government consultation on marriage equality, however ministers have been clear that this is to gather feedback on issues surrounding marriage equality and not on whether marriage equality should be law because that question has already been decided.
Marriage equality has received the full backing of Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron and while the Anglican church as a whole has acted against the move, a number of religious leaders have also said they support civil marriage equality as a matter of fairness.
