As our dog companions age, many suffer hearing loss just like humans. Sadly, dogs didn’t have many options to help them hear better, unlike their human counterparts. Researcher Pete Scheifele from the University of Cincinnati was inspired when his own dog of 17 years starting losing his hearing and created a prototype hearing aid for him.
A team of researchers hope to have a commercial hearing aid for dogs available by the end of the year. The hearing aids will only help dogs that have hearing loss acquired through age or other factors, not for dogs that are deaf.
This is great news for anyone who loves a dog with hearing loss. It should not only improve the overall quality of the dogs’ lives, but one of the greatest challenges to having a dog with hearing loss is the concern for safety.

My 10 year old corgi, has recently become deaf, and I am looking for any options to help him. He has lots of life ahead of him and I want him to have the very best quality of life.
Dogs and animals deserve to hear like us. It's a great opportunity to help our little buddies.

Even in humans, hearing loss is often neurologically-based and is not the result of actual components within the ear being inoperative.
As our pets Guardians, we we spare no expense to make them comfortable. We would buy them a hearing aid if needed.
