Care2′s 2016 Giving Guide

The year is winding down and the holiday season is fast approaching. For some, that means standing in shopping lines and crossing off items on gift lists. But in the holiday giving frenzy, it’s worth pausing and considering how we can support those who are making the world better.

With so many charities, we know it’s hard to figure out where to start. To help ease your holiday giving worries, we’ve listed some of our favorite nonprofits grouped by the causes they fight for: animal welfare, cancer and disease research, children and education, environment and human rights.

Over time, our new fitness gadgets and e-reader gifts will become obsolete and landfill-bound, but nonprofits around the world will still be working hard to fight for important causes.

ANIMAL WELFARE

African Wildlife Foundation

What’s on the wish list for Africa’s elephants? An end to poaching. Gorillas asked for a chance to live peacefully. Lions want room to roam. Your holiday gift to African Wildlife Foundation saves endangered species with proven wildlife-protection programs. You make the donation … we’ll do the gift-wrapping.African Wildlife Foundation

Humane Society International

From fighting the cruel dog meat trade to helping animals on factory farms, Humane Society International is your partner in the fight to defend and protect all animals around the world. Donate now to help rescue and protect animals in desperate need.Humane Society International

The Humane Society of the United States

The Humane Society of the United States, together with our affiliates, provides direct care to more than 100,000 animals and help millions more through our advocacy work.

Your donation helps drive transformational change in the U.S. and around the world by combating large-scale animal cruelties such as puppy mills, animal fighting, factory farming, horse cruelty, captive hunts and the wildlife trade.

thanks 4 the list. 90% of my donation go animal causes. I would never have never donated a penny to any hospitals/cancer research 4 the majority torture/kill defenseless animals 4 their damn research. I also go outta my way to educate as many as i can about cancer research how barbaric it is.

I'm surprised that they didn't mention those other wonderful groups, such as Environmental Defense Fund, Defenders of Wildlife, or Center for Biological Diversity!
