You may have heard about Nora, the piano playing cat. She is a YouTube phenomenon with eight videos, which includes CATcerto.
A tabby who tickled the world when she tickled the ivories, Nora’s performance in CATcerto is surreal! Lithuanian composer, Mindaugas Piecaitis wrote the score just for Nora.
Nora — named after the surrealist painter Leonora Carrington – lives as the alpha cat along with four feline siblings. She was adopted from a New Jersey shelter by Betsey Alexander, a music teacher, and her artist husband, Burnell Yow.
She was awarded ASPCA’s Cat of the Year in 2009 for her amazing abilities. It was Alexander who first noticed Nora’s natural abilities and encouraged her to practice, spawning her own web site and YouTube fame.
A DVD has been produced of all eight of her videos including CATcerto.
