An enraged, barking chihuahua succeeded in foiling a robbery attempt by two armed men at Ace Gifts and Tobacco, in Altadena, California.
You read that right! The attempted robbery took place around 7:30 pm on July 7.
Last Monday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials released the surveillance video of the event, in the hopes of catching the two assailants. It shows two hooded men, one armed with a rifle, running into the store and demanding money.
Thieves Intimidated By A Tiny Paco
It also shows Paco the chihuahua running up to the men and barking fiercely, as they beat a hasty retreat, taking less money than they might have. Paco then chases the thieves down the street, nipping at their ankles as they run. (You can watch the video below.)
Neither the owner nor the dog was injured in the incident.
Rescued From A Pound Five Years Ago
It turns out that the store’s owner, Erik Knight, rescued Paco from a pound five years ago. Since then, the 15-pound dog has become a neighborhood mascot, taking daily walks from store to store, visiting his friends. And it looks like he’s also part of the neighborhood watch program.
As first reported by KABC: “He was rescued, so I suggest everybody rescue a dog from the pound,” said Knight. “You never know when you’re going to need him.”
Never underestimate a chihuahua!
