Chihuahua Chases Armed Robbers Out Of California Store — VIDEO

Chihuahua Chases Armed Robbers Out Of California Store — VIDEO

An enraged, barking chihuahua succeeded in foiling a robbery attempt by two armed men at Ace Gifts and Tobacco, in Altadena, California.

You read that right! The attempted robbery took place around 7:30 pm on July 7.

Last Monday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials released the surveillance video of the event, in the hopes of catching the two assailants. It shows two hooded men, one armed with a rifle, running into the store and demanding money.

Thieves Intimidated By A Tiny Paco

It also shows Paco the chihuahua running up to the men and barking fiercely, as they beat a hasty retreat, taking less money than they might have. Paco then chases the thieves down the street, nipping at their ankles as they run. (You can watch the video below.)

Neither the owner nor the dog was injured in the incident.

Rescued From A Pound Five Years Ago

It turns out that the store’s owner, Erik Knight, rescued Paco from a pound five years ago. Since then, the 15-pound dog has become a neighborhood mascot, taking daily walks from store to store, visiting his friends. And it looks like he’s also part of the neighborhood watch program.

As first reported by KABC: “He was rescued, so I suggest everybody rescue a dog from the pound,” said Knight. “You never know when you’re going to need him.”

Never underestimate a chihuahua!

what a shame the video is not available, as a chihuahua lover I can assure you, they have the courage of a lion and I have no doubt this little guy took care of the problem!

I forgot to say, "Thank YOU!" to Erik Knight for rescuing Paco and giving him a loving home.

I have rescued hundreds of Chihuahuas and they are very protective. Some of them that come from horrible places like puppy mills or abusive homes. Sometimes they bite and sometimes they just wait to see how you will approach them. A dog the size of a 15 pound Chihuahua can bite deeply enough to injure or destroy a persons hamstring. You won't be walking much less running.

For those who think a Chihuahua can't chase off intruders: I hope you never encounter a 15 pound aggressive dog of any breed. They can give very nasty bites which are much larger and deeper than you can imagine. I once encountered a 12 pound mixed breed dog that would launch herself at an intruders throat and not quit until called off. Thankfully she was extremely well trained and never offered to bite any person who was not threatening her owner, house or car if the dog was in the car.

Good for him! Don't under estimate the little ones, they are usually the toughest.

Fantastic that this little guy could scare off 2 grown men. Good for Erik Knight for saving him - it looks like he has pretty much returned the favour!
