Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy looks poised to be the party nominee to replace retiring Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman in November, adding the state Democratic endorsement to his growing list of endorsements and supporters.
Murphy is vying for the Democratic nomination against former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, who has been backed by EMILY’s List, a political group that supports pro-choice women candidates for office. However, the powerful leg up that an EMILY’s List endorsement usually supplies, especially among female supporters, has been blunted in this race as Murphy received endorsements not only from the National Organization for Women, but also from female Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Senator Patty Murray, who also serves as head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Connecticut’s Democratic primary is August 12th.
