Pres. Obama's Administration is a considerable improvement over the Bush Administration and, overall, the Democratic members of Congress are a big improvement over the Republican members of Congress. Note that the sum total of the voting by Republicans shows that they refuse to even participate in any positive way in helping the American people. Is Pres. Obama disappointing? Of course he is. If you recall the nominating process in the Democratic Party, it was more democratic (small "d") than what amounted to the vetting process by the Mass Media. On TV Obama and Clinton sat center stage and were asked the most questions while the other candidates, some of them clearly superior to either Obama or Clinton, were at the sides and asked few questions. In addition the various TV channels and the major newspapers kept saying that those two were the "main" candidates, in their own cute and clever ways, of course. They managed to "funnel" the voters in the direction of "O" and "C". Then, during the election our only alternative was a man who was totally unacceptable from the Party that had become totally unacceptable. As for his Nobel Prize, he didn't deserve it any more than the previous Presidents who received it. Theodore Roosevelt's claim to fame is the conquest of Central America (remember the Panama Canal?) and Cuba, then crossing the Pacific to conquer the Phillippines. How's that for the winner of the Nobel Prize? President Wilson, another winner was a man who approved of

I agree with what Lon and Pat said:

"I would have been embaressed to go and collect a "PEACE PRIZE", and he just gave the order to "ESCALATE" this unwinable ... war"

Obama is a great disappointment. He could stand up for peace in a whole new way, acknowledging America's dirty past and cleaning up our present and future, instead, he talks about evil in the world - what about the evil we have done? To Palestine by paying for Israel's evil, to Iran, by taking their legal government away and giving them a brutal Shah, to Chile, by killing their legally elected government and helping in a military dictator, and on and on. No, sadly it's looking like Obama is just another lying politician, nothing more."

I listened to some of his speech, but couldn't continue as his extreme arrogance made me sick

I agree with many of you. For me, Obama is a great disappointment. No, sadly it's looking like Obama is just another lying politician, nothing more.

All I can say is, "I would have been embaressed to go and collect a "PEACE PRIZE", and he just gave the order to "ESCALATE" this unwinable disgraceful war he should be working to end!

I'm GLAD Nobel Laureate President Barack Who's Sane Obama was awarded the Peace Prize. I LOVED his speech ... it moved me greatly, and I believe he meant the words he spoke. In sum, I believe in this man.

And I'd rather be me, naive or not, than be someone all filled with anger and displaying such hatred whenever Obama's name is even mentioned.

I'm glad I'm filled with hope and trust rather than filled with rage and sputtering self-righteousness.

I won't bother disliking those who dislike Obama ... I'll get even with them by praying for them. That'll teach 'em!

Why is everyone up set? Ralph Nader was right and is still right...There is no difference between the Rs & the Ds. They both feed from the same master. Obama is just another of a long line of talking heads. Clinton moved the working people to the brink of poverty with NAFTA, GAT and the WTO. Bush gave us two wars and Obama continues the slide. They do have one thing in common; they all have helped increase and protect the wealth of the rich. Even in these band economic times the wealthiest 1% owns as much wealth as the bottom 90%! That is what a "just war" is about. Giving Obama the Peace Prize has cheapened it to a "Cracker Jack" award!

What hypocrisy! We have another War President with 'Peace Prize window dressing' and slick rhetoric! How tragic for the world. There is no 'hope' for the victims or those desperately in need of utilization of resources to serve human needs instead of robbing us of half our national treasury for war. While he luxturiates in Washington, others are bombed, suffer from lack of health care, unemployment, loss of homes, and impacts of climate change. The price of American gullibility and corporate greed and domination will be lives, ours and other animals, the degradation of the environment and the demise of the planet!
